Whether they are new pointers or reminders for you, we encourage you to consider all of the following: Outfits matter! We guarantee that she wants to feel her best when you ask the big question. Think about how she will dress. Whether you will be taking her to a fancy outing or on a scenic hike, get her prepared enough for photos. You can have her dressing appropriately and without suspicion by creating a rouse to get her to your set proposal location. Suggest going out to dinner together and then casually drive to the proposal location instead of a restaurant. Have her best friend help by saying she wants to go out and have a girls day. © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Choosing Your Outfit: 1. Wear an outfit that matches your decor. If you are having red florals, where a red shirt to fit with your theme. 2. Feel comfortable, but classy. You can wear jeans, but pair it with a more dressy shirt. 3. Be yourself. If you re not the type of guy to wear a full suit, then don t change that! You don t want to set off any alarm bells. Capture the moment! If you re hiring a photographer or videographer to capture your special moment (we highly recommend having one or the other, if not both), then make sure to stay down on one knee for at least 15 seconds when you re asking the question so that the photographer can make sure to snap the shot! Note: photographers are typically more budget friendly than videographers. Cost effective dates! If your budget is tight then consider proposing on a weeknight (after work) instead of on a Saturday or Sunday. Venues are less expensive and have more availability Monday through Thursday! If you can t do it after work but still need to keep costs down, then think about a weekend early afternoon instead of an evening proposal. © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Beware when traveling! Although you are nervous and want to pop the question as soon as possible during your vacation, don t do it the first day you arrive. Seriously! Between delayed plane flights, luggage issues, and just wanting to shower after a day of travel it s not ideal for her or you. To avoid any hiccups plan it for the second or third day of vacation. Day Of Planner! The last thing you want that day of is the photographer, venue, florist, etc texting and calling you all day while setting off alarm bells with your future fiancée. It s best to hire a proposal planner to handle those phone calls. If you can t afford to hire a professional, then ask a reliable friend. © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Weather! If she is super cold, hot, or sweaty she probably won t enjoy the moment as much as should could. Check the weather forecasts a week before your proposal before you finalize all the details! Have a rain plan too. What you say matters! Think through what you re going to say during your iconic down on one knee speech! No matter how silly it feels, practice saying it out loud to yourself a couple of times to calm those day of jitters. Furthermore, the majority of women would like for their full names to be used, so say, (first name) (middlename) (last name), will you marry me? ! Resource: A Perfect Marriage Proposal Speech Timing Counts! Has your lady been dropping hints that she wants to get married on Thanksgiving weekend? Then you probably don t want to propose on the first of December. The average engagement in the United States is nine months long, so think about when you re proposing and when she has mentioned she wants to get married. If she has told you repeatedly that she wants a yearlong engagement, and wants to get married in during summer then just keep that in mind. © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Insure her ring! Even though your jeweler told you to get the ring insured, we are going to say it again. The sooner that piece of jewelry gets insured the better! Sadly we ve heard of stories where the ring is too big and it slips off in the midst of everyday life. You ll want it insured so any damages are covered right away! Pinterest! This lovely social media platform can be your own secret weapon. Look through her Wedding Pinterest Board because while you might think her favorite flower is a pink rose, her Pinterest board might reflect that her favorite is actually a pink peony! Her board can also help you pick out personalized décor and even rings that she likes! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. What about some of these… Favorite Holiday Hand her an ornament that says “will you marry me” while you decorate the Christmas tree together. Jigsaw Puzzle Pops the Question Invite your immediate families over for dinner. When your mom arrives she brings a new puzzle she found at a store and wants to do it while dinner is cooking. As your girlfriend and families start to complete the puzzle she will realize that it is a picture of you on one knee, but the center piece where the ring would be in your hands is missing. You walk up and hand her the last piece then get down and propose. Favorite Activity Scavenger Hunt Go indoor rock climbing together and write “will you marry me” on one of the rocks towards the top of the wall. Then when she climbs up to it she will see your special message and turn around to see you down on one knee. Have her mom wake her up in the morning and take her to coffee. At coffee her best friend shows up and hands her a note from you. Then they go all around town to places that are significant to your relationship. At each location is another friend or family member waiting with her next clue. *During Sporting Event As youʼre walking in from the parking lot your girlfriend spots a sign that a random fan is holding, then another sign, then another sign. The signs each have one word that describes her personality – witty, brave, bubbly, beautiful, etc. Right before you reach the entrance gate another fan holds a sign up that reads “Will you marry me?” and you get down on one knee. * Please Note: We HIGHLY discourage scoreboard proposals. There are so many elements that can go wrong (like she misses it while she is grabbing a beer or not paying attention to the screen) and they are very expensive. Also, if you love sports or a specific team, but your lady only loves them because she loves you, then a sporting event proposal probably isnʼt the best way to go. © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. For this couple, they loved telling each other, “For Me, It’s You” so we had those words cut into 3D wooden pieces and painted the soon-to-be-bride’s favorite color! Then we threw in some flowers, a beautiful backdrop and some more love notes! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Beach Picnic Proposal If you and your loved one enjoy spending time at the beach, think about “upping” the traditional beach picnic with a private catered dinner on the sand! Add in flowers in her favorite color and even a gift on her chair for her to open to really wow her! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Prom Throw-back This proposal is perfect for that “high school sweetheart” couple, or for the girlfriend that is constantly reminding you how terrible her prom was. Recreate the moment (if it was a great night for her, then tell her it’s to add onto the emotions from that evening; if it wasn’t the best night in her history, tell her you want to make up for it because everyone deserves a special prom night)! You can even find one of her old yearbooks and write a proposal note in the back of it! Read through your notes, look at old pictures, and then pop the question! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Professional Stadium Tour Are you and your loved one mega-fans of a professional sports team? Plan a private tour of your favorite team’s stadium and then have the final location of the tour be decorated just for your proposal! You can do bases that read “Will you marry me?” for baseball, or roses made out of soccer balls, or even personalized football jerseys with your gal’s new last name! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. Frame all your gal’s favorite pictures of the two of you and display them with all her favorite flowers and colors. You can even add one last frame that says something to the effect of “Time to make another memory” like we did for this couple! Your proposal picture will be her favorite one yet! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Receiving Gifts Proposal If your gal LOVES getting random, and thoughtful gifts from you then play into that! Get her gifts that draw from your past together, your current favorite things, and your future dreams! For this couple, one of their favorite activities is having coffee together in the morning, so we had these cute coffee mugs made for them! They also have dreams of starting a family and raising them in the Christian faith, so a new monogramed bible and children’s nativity book were also part of the gifts! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Fairytale Love Story Proposal If your love story is worthy of a wonderful fairytale book, then make it happen! Write your love story, add in pictures from along the way, and then have it professionally bound together! For this couple, we even hired a sketch artist to create little doodles of their relationship so that they can read it to their future children as a bed-time story! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Framed Characteristics Proposal Your lady has so many facets and characteristics. So elevate your favorites by framing them and displaying them in a cool way! With this couple, she was very into the rustic-charm design so we found these tree trunks and had beautiful florals created inside of pumpkins! Then we printed her characteristics on burlap and framed them. © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Bucket List Proposal Every couple has a dream. Bring your “couple bucket list” to life literally! Paint buckets in her favorite color and then write notes about all the things you want to do together. From skydiving, to buying a home, to getting married! Once she reads the last note you’ll have the perfect moment to drop to one knee! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events. All Rights Reserved. Private Concert Is your lady super into a specific singer or band? Have a private performance by a impersonator! For this couple, their favorite song was “Making Memories of Us” by Keith Urban so we added in some signs with their best memories and, voila! © Copyright 2015 The Yes Girls Events.
