"The class is becoming more focused as we go
along," said Gail Vicars, oneohhestudenlS in the
class. "We'll make it work anywaywe can, We're
finding ways thai are working beller."
At least one student says she thinks the class is
also teaching them how to work with each other.
campoverdewouid like to send two students to
the national conference and IWO students 10 the
international conferences but she said they need
about S4 thousand to send them and the depanment does not ha~ the money.
V"tcars said thai several students admitted at
first that thedass may have been too much, but as
they learn more about the project, they're foellog
better abOut the projea and many are prepared to
conti.oue their wort on the project even after the
class ends in April.
"We're loosened up, relamd and VI'C're going to

Students should
not be denied
long distance
Anyone who has lived in the dorms from 1985 to the
present has experienced it The utter frustration associated with waiting in line to use your OWlt phone!
With four people on relatively the same schedule, phone
time can be the cause of some very heated discussions.
Scratch that It's war! Everyone has their own ideas
about which phone conversation is the most important.
Everyone bas "just got to talk with- their boyfriend,
mother, drinking buddy, etc. and soon it turns into a
selfish game of "Me First This whole problem could be
eradicated by one of two possible solutions.
First, the Housing Department could issue each suite
one small handgun to be placed on the counter next to
the phone jack. The gun would be immediately put to
use by the speaker whenever rudely intenupted by a
nagging roommate. The one on the phone could simply,
shall we say, silenu the disturbance.
The second, and obviously more rational solution
would be for the Housing Department to merely follow
through on a promise made to the donn students five
years ago. Get us a real phone system!
As if it weren't bad enough to have so few phones for
so many people while four other jacks laydonnant in our
rooms, still another problem exists. Not only is our time
wasted in having to wait our tum to use the phone, but
our money is wasted also when it comes to long distance.
Perhaps it would be better to say "lack of long distance".
It is totally unbelievable that the school expects the
resident students to be able to afford a 95 cent service
charge on every call made using an AT&T calling card
after every other fee we're slapped with during the
.
course of an average semester.
We've had enough with empty promises. Let's some
action with AT&T...A.S.AP!

The Dow Jones Average gained

remain sluggish. Interest rate pressures
should ease as tbe economy adjusu for
slower growth and weaker inflationary
pressures. Look for depressed stocks
with above average dividend yields and
low price earning ratios. This way, when
we get an upturn in the economy, these
cyclical stocks outperform the market

International Mutual Funds
In 1992, all trade barriers within
Western Europe will be removed.
European companies will be able to

From here on, tbe movie

special effects utilized in this
movie add greatly to the plot, and
give the audience the foeting that
they ue trapped inside a surreal

(Jive Barker himsell has done
an eu:eUent job of building up I
