Warren’s creative community is a diverse collection of well-established
artists who have made this historic waterfront town their home. Working
from one of many refurbished mills, commercial properties and their
homes, Warren artists thrive in the casual, yet industrious, town atmosphere that has easy access to Providence and Boston, the East Bay Bike
Path, and is one of nine “Tax-Free Arts Districts” in Rhode Island. Known
locally as the smallest town in the smallest county in the smallest state in
the U.S., Warren’s tree-lined village streets are an easy stroll to explore
galleries, restaurants, theatre, independently owned shops and one of the
last working waterfronts in New England.

The oldest 4th of July celebration in America is likely the first thing that
most folks identify with historic Bristol. Today’s Bristol is more than that,
with a vibrant cultural base to support the arts with its many galleries and
studios. Roger Williams University and its Performing Arts Center is host
to many exciting events. Bristol's charm is rooted in its historic architecture, great shops and restaurants, its walkable waterfront, and museums
such as Linden Place, Herreshoff Marine, and Blithewold, all public venues
for education and recreation. Visitors may be accommodated by a
waterfront hotel or some quaint B&B’s.

Tom Culora holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts in New York. His
most recent work explores the reconciliation between post-modernism
and the historical line of art that existed in the late 19th to the mid-20th
century. He accomplishes this work through examining psychology of
posting personal video streams on the web with the reciprocal psychology
of viewing these images. He then appropriates images through a highly
selective process that results in large two-dimensional works painted on
framed hardboard using traditional oils. The frames are often an integral
element of the work. His most recent exhibition was a collaborative show
at The Royal Institution in London, titled AUTOCATALYSIS. 619.995.2050,

The sounds of nature almost come alive when viewing Pat Warwick’s
art. With delicate precision and fine craftsmanship, Warwick creates
every ceramic piece by hand – one-of-a-kind wall hangings, mirrors,
coffee tables, or backsplashes for kitchens and bathrooms. Each
installation is custom designed to suit the unique space and color
requirements of her client. A graduate of the RISD, Warwick has spent
thirty years finding inspiration from the natural world near her home by the
sea and from her travels. Her commissioned work is part of private and
corporate collections around the globe, as well as galleries and fine craft
exhibitions in the United States. patwarwick.com,

Ed McAloon is a stained glass artist and sculptor whose interest in
stained glass began while working in the architectural salvage industry,
which lead to studies at RISD with local glass artists. His inspiration
comes from his seaside surroundings as well as vintage graphic design,
such as record cover art and abstract concepts. He utilizes traditional
kiln-fired glass staining techniques in much of his work. Numerous
commissioned pieces have been completed for clients to their individual
specifications. McAloon also creates kiln-formed pieces that are
assembled into sculptural works in conjunction with wood and various
metals. Other works have utilized steam-bent wood, as well as cold-bent
and welded steel. [email protected], 401.595.8405,

Syndhi Daniels
Syndhi Daniels’ current work, “Portraits of Nature,” portrays the
character and emotional qualities a particular scene personifies. “When
I’m held captive by a painting, when it’s done with me,” she says, “I am
sometimes surprised by the direction taken and the mercurial aspects of
the final image.” Heraclitus said, “You can’t step into the same river twice.”
Daniels adds, “nor can you look upon the same scene twice – subtle
changes occur with the movements of the sun, wind, shadow, and with
the observer’s varying tuning/reception.” Ultimately, her paintings show a
universe parallel to the obvious, a metaphysical moment where one enters
into the unfamiliar to receive the teaching Nature offers. cadaniels.com,

JUNE 28 500 MAIN STREET, WARREN
Adam Tracy holds a degree in Art Education and a studio concentration in
painting from Rhode Island College. Though he concentrated on painting in
college, with a preference for acrylics, he enjoys working with most
mediums. Recently he returned to printmaking, a process he first worked
with in high school. While at Mt. Hope and in college, Adam designed and
printed shirts for his clothing line, Dubs Deep. He still prints wearable art,
but has swapped the t-shirt for heavy weight paper that hangs on the wall.
The subject of his art changes based on current interests, with pieces
centered on favorite musicians, beautiful women, shoes, and song lyrics.

William Schaff
Warren artist William Schaff is a mess. Much of his art deals with debt and
loss, as well as the consequences of, and responses to, human violence.
Stories from the Old Testament and scenes from the Holocaust are recurrent
in his art. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, Schaff has
exhibited and lectured at the United States Air Force Academy, Rhode
Island School of Design, Amherst College, and East Carolina University. He
has created artwork for private commissions, gallery exhibits, authors, and
notable independent musicians such as Okkervil River, Godspeed You! Black

Deborah Baronas
Deborah Baronas graduated from RISD in Textile Design and has worked in
the textile industry since 1979. Currently, she works as an artist and
designer out of her studio in Warren, which has produced product lines for
home and apparel and, more recently, a serious pursuit of painting. Her
layered paintings are the dominant subject of her investigations. The
historical mills of New England hold the essence of her own experience with
the memories of past lives in the textile industry, layered with the lush
landscapes in which she grew up. This is depicted in these new works and
represents a culmination of the life of a visual artist in these two worlds.

John Paul Fernandes is a Rhode Island native and award-winning artist
who studied art at Roger Williams University, jewelry design at RISD, and
Porcelain Antique Doll Reproduction at Seeley’s Doll Artisans School of
Doll Making, N.Y. His recent works are abstract expressionist pieces that

John Boland / Deb Diemente
John Boland’s artistic roots are grounded in the Pacific Northwest, where
he studied ceramics with Robert Sperry, and in Mexico, where he
apprenticed with Jorge Wilmot. Today, Boland combines these influences
to produce handmade ceramics for contemporary interiors. Each piece is a
unique art object, designed with function for home, garden or office in mind.

Deb Diemente creates stoneware and porcelain, functional and decorative
vessels. In the early eighties, she met Makoto Yabe, a Japanese master who
taught her to strive to make pots with life and energy, pots that stay
connected to their roots in the amazing material that is clay. Diemente thinks
of him every time she sits at the wheel or wedge. [email protected]

Historic coastal towns Bristol and Warren, RI, have joined forces to offer
nine “Art Nights” throughout 2012, on the last Thursday of every month
from March through November. Think gallery stroll with a twist as “Art
Night” provides access to the inner workings of artists’ studios. Each
monthly event features two local artists who open their studio doors for
an up-close and personal look at where their work is created. A trolley
service runs between galleries and studios in the two towns, and local
shops and restaurants are offering special incentives. These East Bay
towns have a long history of attracting creative people, and “Art Night”
organizers have put together an exciting lineup for 2012.

Virginia Delgado is a street photographer in the classical tradition. She
works exclusively with black and white film and produces her own prints.
She has photographed scenes from everyday life around the world for the
past ten years. Her images have been called “timeless,” with scenes from
Naples, Buenos Aires, London, Montevideo, and New York, among others.
Most recently, she photographed the youth of Occupy Boston during a
protest on Halloween 2011. Fundamentally, she is drawn to the human
spirit in all its forms. In Providence, Delgado’s work has been shown at
Gallery Z and Capriccio restaurant; she is featured in the spring of 2012 at
the Bank Rhode Island Art Gallery. [email protected]
Debbie Gonville Miller
Debbie Gonville Miller earned a BFA from RISD and has worked as a
freelance artist, decorative painter, teacher, and master painter at a folk art
company. In 2006 she made the transition back to her first love: oil
painting, bringing to her art a bold palette, strong composition, and a
colorful, illustrative style. Still calling Rhode Island home with her husband
and their three boys, the Ocean State’s beaches and the people who visit
them are a constant source of inspiration. Gonville Miller’s paintings reside
in private collections in England, Germany, Norway, and throughout the
United States. debbiemillerpainting.com, [email protected]

NOVEMBER 29 STUDIO #225, 30 CUTLER STREET, WARREN
David Ferro is a designer who finely crafts weathervanes using traditional
techniques of forming and raising to create one-of-a-kind copper
sculptures. What makes a Ferro weathervane so exceptional is the
attention to personality. Features that are essential to the character of a
subject are not ignored; Ferro embosses facial features, musculature, and
surface texture to capture a subject’s essence and is a pioneer in
introducing new materials to weathervane design. Ferro, whose weathervane designs have been shipped around the world, studied art at RISD,
where he discovered the rich history, proud craft, and dying art of making
weathervanes. ferroweathervanes.com, 401.297.9560
