Textbook Information Textbooks are required for many of the classes and may be purchased in the campus bookstores. If you need to contact the campus bookstores, call the Macon Cove Campus Bookstore at (901) 333-4227 or the Union Avenue Campus Bookstore at (901) 333-5452. If the course description is not specific as to whether you need to purchase a textbook, please call (901) 333-4207. Do not write in or unwrap your books until the first class meeting. Be sure to keep your receipt and familiarize yourself with bookstore policies. Textbooks for most one- or two-day computer classes are included in the price of the class and will be issued on the first day of class. Parking Parking is free to Corporate Training & Continuing Education students enrolled in non-credit classes on all Southwest campuses/centers and sites. Students may cut out the temporary parking permit on this page or print a copy from our website to display on their windshield. Students should park only in areas designated for students (white lined areas). Red lines are reserved for faculty/staff and green areas are reserved for visitors. Cancellations and Changes We reserve the right to cancel, postpone, limit enrollment, split or combine classes, or change instructors and class locations when necessary. Posted non-credit course fees are subject to change. Inclement Weather Inclement weather sometimes requires that classes be rescheduled. Southwest notifies the public of closings via the college’s Website http://www.southwest.tn.edu and the local broadcast news media. If the college is closed, our classes will not be held. Returned Check Fee If a check presented for registration is returned by the bank, a $30 penalty is assessed. The student will be withdrawn from school if the check is not redeemed and the $30 penalty paid (in cash) within 10 days. All other returned checks are also subject to a $30 penalty. Transcripts For transcripts of non-credit courses taken prior to the Fall 2009 term, please request a transcript from the college’s admission and records office. This class is designed for those that have prerequisite fundamental knowledge and experience with air conditioning systems and are trying to prepare for the Master Unlimited Air Conditioning License Exam. There are several books required in order to sit for the open book exam and most of these books will be required for this course. Required books will be available in the Macon Cove Campus bookstore. Students will practice using sample questions and not actual test questions. Prerequisites: Air Conditioning Principles I and Air Conditioning Principles II and/or adequate training and work experience in the industry. Topics include high pressure and low pressure boiler operations, piping design, safety, steam traps, code compliance, and prevention of explosions. Learning will be facilitated through practice on required calculations. (4.5 C.E.U.s) The OSHA 10-Hour for general industry is a shorter presentation of the topics covered in the 30-Hour. Workers engaged in the hands on work of production, distribution and warehousing, service delivery and retail will receive practical instruction in the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards as wells as workers’ rights and employer responsibilities.
