Looking forward, GIVING BACK How do you give? 2014-15 SCCP Char it y Dir ec tor y 1 2014-15 SCCP Charity Directory www.gasccp.org Why Give Through SCCP? Each year the State Charitable Contributions Program has over 1000 charitable organizations available for employees to support through the workplace giving campaign. The participants in the campaign undergo a rigorous application process that evaluates each application against the highest standards of fiscal and ethical accountability. This charity listing represents the independent organizations and federations of charities that were approved to participate by the State Personnel Board of Georgia. The campaign provides a convenient, simple and trustworthy way to support the cause of your choice. Together, we enrich our communities and make a real impact on the world. Georgia’s employees are looking forward and giving back in a big way. Visit WWW.GASCCP.ORG to pledge! IT’S SIMPLE • Everything you need to make an educated decision is available online or through your easily accessible local SCCP coordinator. IT’S YOUR CHOICE • Choose from over 1,300 eligible charities covering health, welfare, environmental and educational services. • Charities are screened annually through a rigorous application process which requires tax forms, audits and administrative costs below 25% of overall revenues. • Select from payroll deduction or one-time payment by check or credit card (online only). IT’S CONVENIENT • Search through this document by charity name or online at gasccp.org by keyword. • Budget for next year’s contribution today – deductions are for the 2015 calendar year. IT’S EFFICIENT • Overall administrative expenses are low (12%) which is below what most charities spend on fundraising and administrative costs which saves them money too. • No state money is used to run the SCCP campaign. • Charities receive quarterly payments from SCCP which means they can spread their money around the entire year. IT’S TRADITION • Established in 1982, employees have been giving to SCCP for over 30 years. TABLE OF CONTENTS WHY GIVE THROUGH SCCP? SCCP charity. WHO MANAGES SCCP? IS IT A UNITED WAY CAMPAIGN? SCCP is managed by state employees. It is not a United Way campaign. The fiscal agent for the SCCP is EarthShare, a registered 501(c)(3). The campaign is managed administratively out of the Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Administration. WHAT DO THE ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES GO TOWARDS? Administrative expenses for SCCP were 12% for the 2014 annual campaign. Every effort is made to ensure administrative expenses are kept to a minimum. Administrative expenses include: personnel, marketing materials, charity events and contract costs for fiscal management. Gross expenses were reduced significantly from 2013 to 2014 to compensate for reduction in pledges. •SCCP’s 12% administrative cost is lower than most charities’ own fundraising and administrative expenses, which they would otherwise incur to raise and acknowledge these gifts directly. •Charities receive a portion of all undesignated contributions. [Each gift through the SCCP helps to increase their proportionate share of undesignated gifts.] •State employees can often donate more generously with the option of payroll deduction. •They receive payments efficiently (quarterly) for all SCCP donors without needing to invoice individual donors. •They are able to apply SCCP contributions toward areas where they are needed the most, stretching the value of their existing budget for programs and services. 3 2014-15 SCCP Charity Directory www.gasccp.org Independent Charities ANIMAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHARITIES 101412 Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption 102900 Athens area Humane Society of Clarke County and ASPCA 176000 Atlanta Humane Society 101414 Best Friends Animal Society 158000 Canine Assistants 101429 Georgia Natural Resources Foundation, Inc. 161000 Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation 103200 PAWS Atlanta, Inc. 101435 Wylde Center 150000 Zoo Atlanta HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICE CHARITIES 101401 Action Ministries, Inc. 101000 Adaptive Learning Center for Infants and Children 184000 Advo-Kids CASA, Inc. 168000 American Association of Adapted Sport Programs 103000 American Cancer Society 106000 American Lung Association in Georgia 182000 Angel Flight Soars, Inc. 109000 Atlanta Community Food Bank 101418 Atlanta Outreach Project, Inc. 101437 Attachment Parenting International 101413 Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy 102800 Bikers Battling Breast Cancer 101419 BlazeSports America 143000 Brain Tumor Foundation for Children, Inc. 101420 Cancer Coalition of South Georgia 102400 Cancer Foundation of Northeast Georgia 132000 Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (formerly EglestonScottish Rite) 173000 Christian City 187000 Clayton State University Foundation, Inc. 185000 Cobb Health futures Foundations, Inc. 101421 Covenant Community, Inc. 101422 Crisis Pregnancy Center for Coastal Georgia 136000 CURE Childhood Cancer 101423 DDD Foundation Inc. 101424 Disability Action Center of Georgia d.b.a. disability link 189000 Douglas Health futures Foundation, Inc. 101425 Dress for Success Atlanta 103400 Feed the Hungry Foundation 101415 Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy 101426 Fragile Kids Foundation 101101 Georgia 4-H Foundation 101402 Georgia Center for Oncology Research and Education Inc. 101428 Georgia College and State University Foundation 102200 Georgia Foundation for Public Education 101500 Georgia Justice Project 141000 Georgia Lions’ Camp for the Blind 177000 Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation, Inc. 156000 Georgia Public Broadcasting 101403 Georgia Radio Reading Service 174000 Georgia Right to Life Committee -
