To find the legislator representing your county, go to www.ibrg.biz and click on “Your Legislators” tab. The Legislative Vote Analysis is a complete record of a legislator’s voting record on business issues, and a copy of the analysis is available by contacting the Lakeshore Chamber Office at 219 931 1000. VIA Marketing was recently honored with an APEX Award of Excellence for the “Kids Alive Gift Catalog 2006-2007, a 24-page, full color project. VIA created the catalog for Kids Alive International, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to rescue suffering children in crisis. Julie Olthoff noted that the assignment incorporated dozens of photos of children from all over the world. The total capacity of current, and under construction facilities that when they become fully operational, the total capacity in Indiana will be approximately 1.65 Billion gallons per year! “VIVA LOS TIEMPOS” DEBUTS IN JULY: The former publishers of the successful bilingual newspaper, “QUE PASA, INDIANA”, have another weekly publication coming to the area via the Times newspaper. Lisette Guillen and her sister Lorraine Guillen-Wentz, recently joined the Times to develop VIVA LOS TIEMPOS, providing news and advertising opportunities to the area’s Hispanic community. Along with expert translation provided by Maria Guillen, VIVA will be a weekly newspaper providing local, state, and national news, as well as providing a calendar of events and personal profiles to the area’s Hispanic population. STATE’S IEDC REPORT REFLECTS THOUSANDS OF NEW JOBS AND MAJOR INVESTMENT IN FIRST HALF OF ’07: The IEDC (Indiana Economic Development Corp) released numbers of new Hoosier jobs and investment landed in Indiana so far this year at 78 competitive projects, 10,200 new jobs, and approx $2billion in new capital investment. These competitive projects represent companies choosing Indiana over competing states, thus creating new jobs as well as the influx of new capital investment to Indiana (note: BP’s $3Billion dollar project was listed in 2006 by the State of Indiana, and not reflected in these totals). The average wage of jobs committed to Indiana so far in ’07 is $44,600, or approximately $21.45 per hour. This is nearly $5 an hour higher than the state’s average of $16.10.
