Dedication Ceremonies
Letter From Zvi Kanor
Dear Friends:
I wish to extend my best wishes to you and your families for the upcoming
Passover holiday and to thank you for your ongoing partnership with the Tel
Aviv-Yafo Foundation. Your support continues to make a significant and
lasting impact on the lives of our many residents. One of our main areas of
focus this year is Success for Every Student! In collaboration with the Tel
Aviv-Yafo Municipal Department of Education, we are striving to provide
every child from infancy onward, with a high quality beginning toward a
lifelong education.
In order to accommodate the significant influx of young families who have moved into Tel Aviv-Yafo
neighborhoods, we are actively involved in building new day cares for infants and toddlers and new
kindergartens for children between the ages of 3-5. Each day requests are made to provide new
neighborhoods of young and growing families with the facilities they need. These educational facilities
enable strong academic beginnings for our children and provide a safe haven while parents are at work.
Because of partnerships with our valued donors, K-12 educational facilities throughout Tel Aviv-Yafo are
receiving fully-equipped library and resource centers, science laboratories, access to technology, and
school gymnasiums. Special needs students often require distinctive support for their unique needs, and
the Foundation works to provide the infrastructure for these children to reach their highest potential. At
the same time, to ensure that Israel’s next generation remains on the cutting edge of scientific discovery
and hi-tech innovation, we have enlarged and enriched the world class Hemda Center for Science
Education, which academically supports gifted students from every sector of the city. These very talented
individuals are receiving the training they will need to become our future scientists, professors, military
specialists and entrepreneurs.
The Academic College of Tel Aviv-Yafo, built by the Foundation, was created as part of a nationwide drive
to increase accessibility to higher education. The College now offers undergraduate degrees in computer
science, economics, business management, behavioral sciences, and government as well as graduate
degrees in computer science and psychology. Students in these programs have consistently demonstrated
a high standard of academic excellence in relation to graduates from comparable institutions of higher
learning in Israel. Alongside its academic commitments, the College uses its resources and knowhow to
upgrade and improve Yafo and other southern Tel Aviv neighborhoods.
These Foundation-Donor partnerships which have fuelled our past successes will be the engines of all our
future accomplishments. Together, we will turn educational needs into realities.
I wish you all a happy Passover and extend my personal invitation to you and your families to visit Tel Aviv
in the near future.
Chag Sameach!
Sincerely,
Zvi Kanor
Director General, The Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation
An Interview with Dafna Lev
Dafna Lev, the Executive Director of Education, Culture and Sports
Authority for the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo, recently took time to
talk about the special relationship that exists between the Tel AvivYafo Foundation and the Municipal Department of Education.
DAFNA LEV
Executive Director of Education,
Culture and Sports Authority
Over 60,000 youngsters in grades K-12 attend school in Tel Aviv-Yafo.
These students come from a very diverse demographic and
represent every level on the socio-economic spectrum. There are
gifted and talented students and students with special needs. There
are children who have parents capable of supporting educational
enrichment at home and children with parents who cannot. We
serve new immigrant and refugee children, children from religious
and secular homes, children who are both Jewish and Arab.
Our goal is, “Success for Every Student”. This means providing our young generation with the tools
they will need to become productive and educated members of society. Yes, we are a big school
system, but we think about every child and how best to meet each individual’s needs.
Our communities are very diverse. Our challenges are many. We must bridge the educational gap that
exists between the fortunate and the less fortunate and provide enrichment activities suitable for all.
Schools and community centers offer after-school activities that include: homework clubs, sports
activities, games, scout groups for different ages, and ecology projects that encourage environmental
awareness. It is very important that we keep these activities going, for they are helping to prepare the
next generation of Israelis. It is also important that we ensure that every child be technologicallysavvy. Many of our students in the southern neighborhoods of the city do not have computers in their
homes. The school and the community centers are their only access to technology.
The Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation has been instrumental in providing this access to technology by building
modern resource centers and computer labs in our schools. It has also been instrumental in upgrading
educational services by providing our schools with much needed libraries, gymnasiums, playgrounds,
and kindergartens. These contributions have been vital, especially since, in recent years, we have
experienced an influx of new students.
It is absolutely essential that we continue our partnership. Only by working together can we ensure
that our students receive the kind of education that will enable them to meet the challenges of the
21st century.

Yad Hanadiv - The Rothschild Foundation, Judy and Josh Weston, The Catherine Lewis Charitable
Trust, Jaime Brener and The Archie Sherman Charitable Trust financed this addition.
At the inauguration, which was attended by such
notables as Josh Weston, Chairman of the
American Committee for the Tel Aviv Foundation
and Prof. Haim Harari, former President of the
Weizmann Institute and founder of Hemda, Mayor
Huldai stated that Hemda is "the crown jewel in
the educational system of Tel Aviv-Yafo and a
meaningful part of our destiny." Mayor Huldai
thanked Josh Weston for the key role he played in
financing the third floor and then went on to laud
Weston for the host of other projects he has
established in Israel and the USA.

The dedication ceremony of Neve Eliezer’s
Shorashim Park took place on July 3, 2012. The
park was established by the Ken Jewish
Community of San Diego in recognition of the
common and permanent roots shared by Jews
around the world. At the ceremony, which was
attended by 23 young members of the Ken
Jewish Community’s Aluma Group as well as
their counselors, Mayor Huldai stated that the
Shorashim Park "is a wonderful playground for
children and a beautiful recreational area for
families.”
He noted that the park provides a safe space for children in the neighborhood to run and play and
an "outdoor living room" for families to enjoy in the evenings. Gifting Shorashim Park to Neve
Eliezer will upgrade and improve the neighborhood and ensure that the bond between Israel and
the Diaspora remains strong.

appreciation from Mayor Huldai
Mr. and Mrs. Harman with Dr. Meggie Navon
On January 30, 2012 the new library and media center at the Ironi Chet (Reshit) Religious Boys
High School was dedicated. The Library was established through the generous support of the
Gottesman Fund in loving memory of Milton M. Gottesman Z"L. Over 90% of the school’s
population comes from south Tel Aviv neighborhoods where access to technology and books is
limited. This exceptional facility will provide the students with an opportunity to access resources
not normally available to them. The event was enhanced by the beautiful voices of the school's
choir and the moving mezuzah placement ceremony conducted by the school principal.
The Dedication Ceremony of the
Gabi Weisfeld and Family Early Education Center
On May 23, 2012 The Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo
and the Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation dedicated
the New Wing of the Gabi Weisfeld and Family
Early Education Center in Yafo. The Weisfeld
Education Center was one of the first coexistence
schools ever to be built in Tel Aviv. The moving
ceremony took place in the presence of Gabi
Weisfeld of Toronto, Canada, her son Gilad, her
daughter-in-law Tracey and her grandchildren.
During the ceremony Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai
thanked Gabi for being one of the few, who from
the beginning, understood his vision for
coexistence between Arabs and Jews and
supported his mission to make high quality
education available to all.
Addressing Gabi, Mayor Huldai said: "When I first met you, I saw that you were a woman with a sharp
mind, a huge heart and endless enthusiasm for strengthening our nation. I knew that you were a
person who cared deeply about the destiny of the Jewish people and about improving the situation in
Israel. Today, we can both take pride in the fact that Arabs and Jews study side by side at this
wonderful school, and that the education system in Yafo has been vastly improved.
Gabi Weisfeld and Family, Mayor Ron Huldai, and Dr. Meggie Navon
Today, we can both take pride in the fact that Yafo has become a place where people choose to live
and educate their children." The dedication of the first wing of the Lewis and Gabi Weisfeld Young
Division took place 10 years ago when there were only 50 children at this school and when the idea of
coexistence was only a hope. Since then, the number of pupils has doubled.

Summer Camp for the Blind & Vision Impaired
Inspired and driven by Rabbi David Greenberg, each year, members of Temple Shaaray Tefila
together with the Weinstein Family of New York generously contribute to a unique summer camp
for blind and vision-impaired children in Tel Aviv. This past summer, over 50 children attended
the camp where they participated in a wide range of programs that included arts and crafts
workshops, enrichment classes, field trips and visits to cultural institutions.
A blind child who attended shared his gratitude by saying: “At camp, they gave me the feeling that
I could do everything-I painted, created, ran and enjoyed life…. Our special counselors understood
that we couldn’t see and took the time to describe and explain what others were looking at.” The
project which also connects blind and/or vision- impaired children with sighted children of blind
parents encourages camaraderie amongst the children and sensitizes each group to the needs of
the other.
It Doesn’t Take A Major Gift To
Make An Impact
In December, the Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation was privileged to add Daniel Yadegar to its list of new
supporters. Daniel chose to donate his Bar Mitzvah money to The Tel Aviv Educational Farm
Gardening and Animal Therapy Program. Each week, over 700 special-needs children from all
over Tel Aviv come to the educational farm in order to participate in therapeutic programming
that includes: the study of herbs and plants, work in the olive orchard, the cultivation of a
vegetable garden and the care of animals. Each of these activities is geared towards helping
children progress physically, emotionally and psychologically. Mayor Huldai joins the children and
staff of the Tel Aviv Educational Farm in thanking Daniel for his generosity. He has shown that it
does not take a major gift to make a significant impact.

Dear Daniel,
I want to wish you MAZAL TOV on you Bar
Mitzvah.
Thank you so much for your donation which
made me very happy.
I was afraid of dogs and now I am not, because
I am in the animal treatment class. My mother
said that when I grow older I will have a dog
that will help me and be my friend.
Thank you
Shlomi

Alexander Greenbaum and Family
MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
A new addition to the Yachdav School for Special Education will be established thanks
to a generous donation from Alexander Greenbaum and his family. The Yachdav School
was Israel’s first educational facility for children with autism. The new, state-of-the-art
addition will contain a library and media center, teaching and therapy areas, as well as
a theater and mini-cinema. Alexander Greenbaum is also a noted donor to and
volunteer at the NOAR’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Family
Unification Program- a municipal program that strives to improve communication and
re-build severed family relationships. The staff at the NOAR Center joins us in thanking
Alexander, for his time and generous support.
The David Berg Foundation
An illustrated portrait
We would like to extend our gratitude to The
David Berg Foundation for agreeing to
underwrite the salary of a full-time attorney
for the Glickman Center in Tel Aviv-Yafo. This
donation makes a vital impact on a very fragile
and at-risk community. The Glickman Center
provides assistance, a safe haven and home
away from home to women and children who
are victims of domestic violence. Prior to this
donation, access to legal aid at the Glickman
Center was extremely limited, for the parttime lawyer did not have the time to cope with
the heavy case load. Since the position was
made full- time, the wait list has declined and
more and more women are receiving the legal
aid they require.
Palm Beach/Boca Raton Friends Gala Dinner
Mayor Huldai and Meggie Navon
present a gift to Mr. & Mrs. Kossar
Mayor Huldai with co-chairs Reuven
and Natalie Blank
Friends and supporters of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation attended a gala dinner in honor of Mayor
Ron Huldai on February 4, 2012 in Palm Beach, Florida. Chairs Bernard and Carol Kossar, co-chairs
Reuven and Natalie Blank, and David and Dale Pratt were joined by over 100 guests, who enjoyed
delicious food, lively company, and the entertainment of noted comedian, Freddie Roman. The
event was designed to raise funds for the establishment of a new, extended-day kindergarten on
Yehuda Ha’nassi Blvd, which will provide state of the art educational and play equipment for 70
children between the ages of 3-6.
Comedian Freddie Roman entertains
the guests.
Mayor Huldai, co-chairs David and Dale Pratt,
Bernard Kossar, Meggie Navon, Valerie Kossar
The Kossars’ wonderful relationship with the Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation began in the early 1990’s
when Bernie built the Kossar-Karetzky Senior Citizen Center together with his brother in law and
then established the beautiful Park for the Two in Yafo. This relationship developed when the
Kossars founded the Palm Beach and Boca Raton Friends of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation and in
collaboration with this group funded an additional fifteen projects. At the event, Mayor Huldai
said: “The kindergarten that will be built as a result of your generosity will have an important
impact on our future...You will directly affect the lives of these children who, hopefully will one
day, become the new academic, technological, and scientific leaders of Israel… The responsibility
for the future of the Jewish people is shared amongst us all. Only through education will we be
able to succeed”. Mayor Huldai then personally thanked Bernie and Carol for their concentration
on Tel Aviv, noting how much the city has been blessed by their incredible dedication and
generosity. In response, Bernie Kossar said: “I have supported the Tel Aviv-Yafo Foundation for the
last 20 years because I trust the people there. I like the Municipality’s dollar for dollar matching
deal and like that I can choose the project I wish to support.”
Gladys Shukur
Gladys in front of the plaque for the Jim & Gladys Shukur
Resource Center
We would like to thank Gladys Shukur for contributing towards the advancement of education
in Tel Aviv. She and her family have created opportunities for generations to come. Gladys’
recent contribution to Yafo’s “A Place in the Heart” home environment center is particularly
noteworthy. “A Place in the Heart” provides after-school support to 6-9 year olds who because
of severe behavioral disorders have either been rejected or expelled from regular childcare
frameworks.
At this unique center, children receive hot meals, affection, academic tutoring, art therapy,
counseling and psychological treatment, as needed. Gladys’ contribution to Hemda, Tel Aviv’s
special science education center also holds great significance. With it, a large physics laboratory
has been funded.
Gladys is the sister of the late Francine Simon and the sister in law of the late Abdallah Simon.
Longtime friends of the Foundation, the Simons will be forever remembered for their deep love of
children, their kindness and many acts of charity. Of particular note are the Simons’ prekindergartens in south Tel Aviv and Yafo and their Kindergarten for Arts & Enrichment in Kiryat
Shalom.
MAZAL TOV TO DENISSE GALICOT
AND JAIME BRENER ON THE OCCASION
OF THEIR MARRIAGE!
The Happy Couple and their Family
Mayor Huldai and the entire Tel Aviv-Yafo
Foundation Family extend their heartfelt
congratulations to Denisse Galicot and Jaime
Brener on the occasion of their December
29, 2012 marriage. We wish them a life full
of health and happiness. The Galicot Family
has been instrumental in improving the
educational system in Tel Aviv for many
years now. Denisse’s parents Ana and Jose
Galicot have established many kindergartens
throughout the city as well as the new
) library and resource center at the Hamagen
Elementary School.
Jaime Brener donated a library and resource center to the David Yellin Elementary School and
generously contributed to the beautiful new kindergarten on Kitzis Street. We are fortunate to
have both the Galicots and the Breners as our partners and thank them for their continued
support.
In Loving Memory
Mayor Ron Huldai and the Tel Aviv-Yafo
Foundation staff and family mourn the loss of one
of its beloved leaders, board members and
friends, Gert Thaler Z"L. Gert was a long-time
supporter and friend of the Tel Aviv-Yafo
Foundation. She pioneered the Foundation's
activities in the San Diego area where she showed
incomparable dedication, commitment and
generosity. She is sorely missed by us all.
CANADA UPDATE
Erin Battat
David and Renette Berman generously
support CCTAF’s playground projects
Under the leadership of Erin Battat, a native Winnipegger who
grew up in Israel and now resides in Montreal, the Canadian
Committee for the Tel Aviv Foundation (CCTAF) has gone from
strength to strength. Over the past three years, Erin has
succeeded in putting CCTAF on the Canadian Jewish
philanthropic map by attracting new supporters and wooing
back former associates. One of the keys to Erin’s success has
been the establishment of an active board composed of Paul
Wynn, Mark Stein, Loretta Helman, Sandra Winston, Morli
Shemesh, Jay Lefton and Gilad Abrahami. Another has been
the striking of an advisory committee whose members include
Gabi Weisfeld, Renette Berman and Harry Bloomfield.
Under the expert guidance of legal counsel Cliff Goldfarb, these
two bodies have worked together to acquaint the Canadian
Jewish community with the organization’s mandate and to
explain why it is important that Tel Aviv remain a bastion of
democratic values in a very volatile and unpredictable Middle
East.
As CCTAF’s mandate is to establish charitable projects that
provide for Tel Aviv’s needy and encourage its talented, friend
and fund-raising efforts were centered on two major projects:
Bialik Rogozin, the Tel Aviv public school which is home to
refugee children from 48 different countries and Hemda, Tel
Aviv’s unique science education center. To showcase these two
projects, CCTAF invited Dr. Meggie Navon, the Tel Aviv-Yafo
Foundation’s VP for North America to Toronto and Montreal in
order to give presentations in synagogues and private homes.
In her presentations, Dr. Navon screened Strangers No Morethe Oscar-winning documentary about the African refugees at
the Bialik Rogozin School and then spoke about how vital
education in general and science education in particular is to
the Israel of tomorrow.
Gabi Weisfeld
As she noted: “Today, Hemda gives every gifted Tel Aviv student, regardless of religious
background or economic status, the opportunity to study physics, chemistry and computational
science at the highest level possible. It is these graduates who will ensure that Israel remains at
the vanguard of scientific innovation in the 21 st century and these graduates who will maintain
Israel’s status as the start-up nation”.
Attendees went away understanding what great emphasis Tel Aviv-Yafo Mayor Ron Huldai places
on providing essential services to all residents of his city regardless of race, creed or color, what
vital importance he places on education and how committed he is to equalizing opportunities for
all. Huldai’s Tel Aviv is an epicenter of business and culture, a city that is proud of its Zionist origins
and embracing of its contemporary cosmopolitanism.
The Canadian Committee for the Tel Aviv Foundation would like to extend its thanks to the many
people who contributed to CCTAF’s Bialik Rogozin Project, to Leslie Dan for renewing his
association with our organization and to Walter Arbib and David and Renette Berman for
undertaking to support CCTAF’s playground projects. These playgrounds will give underprivileged
and refugee children a place where they can grow and flourish. CCTAF would also like to thank
Gabi Weisfeld, Harry Bloomfield and Paul Wynn for understanding the vital role science education
plays in the future security of Israel. Their contributions have helped us fund ten classes at
Hemda!
This article would not be complete without acknowledging CCTAF’s Leave Out Violence project at
the Arab Jewish Community Center, the bar and bat mitzvah donations
made to the Levin Music Center by Julia Zinman and Josh Granovsky and
the work of Ruby Zimmerman and Avie Arenson, our supervisory agents in
Israel. Ruby and Avie are two special individuals who work tirelessly behind
the scenes to ensure that all CCTAF projects in Tel Aviv conform to Canada
Revenue standards.
CCTAF looks forward to an exciting year in 2013. Plans are underway to establish a music room for
autistic children at the Yachdav School for Special Education with a generous donation from Alan
Geenberg and to upgrade the orchestra at the Levin Music Center. Plans are also underway to
expand our supporter base in Montreal.

UK UPDATE:
Dear Friends,
Anke Adler-Slottke Chair, Tel Aviv Foundation, UK
The New Arab - Jewish Youth Center
While many British charities reported
reduced income in 2012, in the main due
to a weakening economy, I am happy to
report that TAF UK saw a healthy income
in excess of $1,700,000. The trustees of
TAF UK were delighted to welcome
Mayor Ron Huldai on his visit to London
in May 2012, accompanied by Nili
Lamden. Amongst various meetings was
a breakfast organized in his honour by
the British trustees and hosted by fellow
trustee Neville Eisenberg.
During the breakfast the Mayor
addressed a number of interested
supporters in his own inimitable way.
With Tel Aviv as the de facto commercial
and cultural capital of Israel he outlined
with passion the various challenges the
city faces. It felt good to be involved, to
increase the awareness of the
Foundation’s work and to be able to
channel funds to needed projects. The
main event cherished by all was the
inauguration of the Arab - Jewish Youth
Center in Jaffa
A fifty-fifty partnership with the municipality we, the British Friends of the Tel Aviv – Yafo
Foundation, saw the completion and inauguration of this complex in a wonderful ceremony in
October, led by Mayor Ron Huldai and Zvi Kanor, Director General. A completely refurbished

for some fifty 14 – 18 year olds, male and female, who are at risk from delinquency and
problematic family relationships. They are drawn from the pluralistic society of Jaffa and as
acknowledged in their speeches by the representatives of the different local communities, this
Center will fill a void in trying to equip these youngsters with training, counseling and education
to become in turn responsible adults. As far as 2013/14 is concerned the trustees of TAF UK have
chosen a new demanding project, concentrating again on Jaffa and its unique challenges.

GERMANY UPDATE:
Old friends, New Relations and Frankfurt’s New Mayor is on Board

Twin City Signing Ceremony
(Tel Aviv-Freiburg)
Old friends, New Relations and Frankfurt’s New Mayor is on Board
It was an exciting year for the Tel Aviv Foundation’s office in Germany. Former donors have been
re-energized in their support, new friends and foundation partnerships have been established, the
Foundation’s German web site was launched, and a new board was initiated with the goal of
establishing substantive German support for the diverse needs of the City of Tel Aviv.
One strategic approach taken by the German
office was to re-establish communication and
dialog Tel Aviv and its German twin cities –
Frankfurt, Essen, Cologne, Freiburg and Bonn.
The goal was to renew partnerships and
implement new projects together. In 1983,
the Frankfurt Parliament financed the “Beit
Frankfurt” Community Center to mark the
twinning of Frankfurt and Tel Aviv.
Monika Möller, Angela Spizig, Mayor Ron Huldai
and Frieder Wolff.
In 2009, Beit Frankfurt Today, Beit Frankfurt
serves a population of some 50,000
residents, offering activities in dance, sports,
theater, music and fine arts. Beit Frankfurt’s
Seniors Department has become well known
for the services it provides to Holocaust
survivors and elderly immigrants. This year,
Frankfurt and the Tel Aviv Foundation have
begun working together on new projects to
support the needs of the city. Uwe Becker,
Frankfurt’s municipal treasurer, visited
Mayor Huldai during Operation Pilar of
Defense, in a show of support and solidarity.
Ron Huldai and Petra Roth
Monika Möller, hands Mayor Ron
Huldai check for the Peace Daycare.
Monika Möller, the extraordinary head of
the “Friends of Tel Aviv” in Cologne,
dedicated a significant amount of time
supporting our Peace Daycare Center
initiative. The city of Cologne financed this
Jewish-Arab co-existence facility for
children 25 years ago, since then, the
building has dilapidated some and was in
urgent need of renovation and renewal.
Monika organized events and donations
toward the renovation of this unique
daycare.
Additionally,
members
of
Cologne’s municipality decided to help –
employees gave of their own money in the
amount of 17,000 € personally delivered to
Mayor Huldai.
Fostering new partnerships with Mayor Paß in
Essen, added to our blossoming German support
system. Ongoing meetings between the two cities
took place in Tel Aviv, Essen, and at the special
performance by the Tel Aviv Opera in Wiesbaden.
During Operation Pilar of Defense, when rocket
sirens were heard throughout Tel Aviv, Mayor Paß
sent encouraging words to the citizens of Tel Aviv
and Mayor Huldai. The Foundation is grateful for
the City of Essen’s commitment to the project

Gavrieli school.
Relations with the new mayor of Freiburg are still in their early stages, and a joint letter of intent
to work together was signed when a delegation from Freiburg was in Tel Aviv earlier this year.
Our new partner Regine Sixt, the owner of a global rent-a-car business, commitment to children
and Israel is legendary. Through her Drying Children’s Tears Foundation, the staff and students of
the Hashmonaim School were provided with a mobile computer lab. This school is in a
socioeconomically deprived neighborhood, where most children do not have home access to
technology. This donation provides them with equal opportunities as their well off peers.
At a recent meeting of the German Association of the Tel Aviv Foundation held in Frankfurt
German, the assembly members elected a new Board of Officers, according to German law. The
law states that officers be elected to a new board every other year. This newly elected Board of
Officers consists of three persons: Peter Feldmann, the Mayor of Frankfurt Germany was elected
as President of the Board of Directors, Ron Huldai, the Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo was re-elected as
Co-President of the Board, Nili Lamdan was elected for the first time as a member of the board in
the capacity of treasurer. These three persons will chair the German Association of the Tel AvivYafo Foundation. This fulfills the legal requirements to receive the tax deductible status in
Germany.

PROVIDING FOR PASSOVER
This Passover marks the 11th year that Tel AvivYafo Foundation board member Joseph BarNatan will host over 1,000 underprivileged
residents of Tel Aviv-Yafo at a Passover Seder.
This remarkable gift ensures that no one in the
Tel Aviv-Yafo area goes hungry or remains alone
on this special holiday. Joseph Bar-Natan also
works with the Foundation to distribute over 750
food baskets to families in need throughout the
city. Joseph’s generosity has touched the lives of
many families. We thank him for his generosity
and hope that he goes from strength to
strength!
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM DOUBLES IN SIZE!
Tel Aviv & Yafo Students lining up to receive
Tel Aviv Foundation Academic Scholarships
The Future Lies in Education!
This is a concept that we, the
Tel Aviv - Yafo Foundation
warmly embrace. Supporting
academic advancement of
students has become a top
priority. This year, we
doubled the number of
scholarship grants provided
to university and college
degree seeking students. In
addition to the academic
scholarships which award
tuition fees to financiallychallenged students, we also
implemented a 12 million
NIS three-year program
designed to encourage the
demographic revitalization of
disadvantaged
neighborhoods.
Offered to degree-seeking students at Tel Aviv University and the Academic College of Tel
Aviv-Yafo, this award covers yearly tuition (NIS 9,600 per year) to students willing to take
up residence in the low-income communities of Schunat Ha’Tikva, Neve Sha’anan and East
Yafo. Students who receive these scholarships also perform 100 hours of community
service in the neighborhoods where they live. 120 students received these residential
scholarships last year and 250 this year. Their new communities are already reaping the
rewards.
