Sustainable Competitive Advantage
COMPANY OVERVIEW
1819 5th Avenue North, Suite 810 Birmingham, AL 35242 • telephone: 205.332.1800 • www.coyne-group.com
Company Background
The Coyne Group is a strategic management consulting firm focusing on the development of sustainable competitive advantage
for our clients. We are a boutique firm which targets counsel to the executive suite as this makes us more effective while adding the greatest value. From strategic consulting across the organization to one-on-one coaching to full LEED implementation,
our profit-driven model of social and environmental stewardship successfully helps clients improve financial performance, enhance market share, and better align the organization with its core values. Our clients range from large to small; from corporations to municipalities; from industry trade groups to professional services.
A Measure of Authenticity
There are many ways to measure a firm. We believe the best way is to see if that firm remains true to the values it professes
to hold.
We invite you to visit our website (www.coyne-group.com) to get a deeper perspective on our work. We encour-
age you to visit our offices, currently the only LEED CI certified offices in the State of Alabama. We hope you spend some time
getting to know us personally. Do we find a new way to look through the prism? Does the body of our work extend beyond
the boundaries of our clients to embrace our community? Are our thoughts original?
Do they expand the breadth of your
vision? Will we bring out the best in you, your organization and your project?

What Makes The Coyne Group Different from Other Firms?
“As the managing principle of a strategic management firm, Coyne and his team take a holistic approach to improve his clients’
market share. Coyne’s business methodology is an unapologetically profit driven sustainable business model addressing environmental and social stewardship which, he says, leads to better profits for his clients. Coyne notes that by not considering the
larger environmental issues, as a business, core strategies suffer. In this interview he says, “Just as there’s integrated design
within LEED, there’s integrated thought that should be a part of your business.” Coyne defines sustainability as indistinguishable
parts of a bigger whole, presenting a different way to look at business on a practical and implementable level.”
-- Taylor Huff, Co-Founder, Purely Green Communications, introducing her interview for the 2009 GreenBuilding Focus & Expo at which
Mr. Coyne was a featured speaker.

OVERVIEW
As both a senior executive and as a strategic management consultant to the executive suite, Colin has gained direct experience in almost every functional area of business organizations. Colin's varied background has helped
him develop strong skills in marketing; finance; strategy; and, general management, skills that he has applied across
multiple industry sectors, including real estate; investment and financial services; and retail. Colin has worked for
publicly traded and private enterprises; as an employee and -- as founder of two successful companies – as an employer, and he is equally comfortable in each of these situations. He has extensive experience in workout and

With work spanning eighteen countries and 25 years, Colin has been directly responsible for more than $1.7 billion of assets, within conventional sectors and niche segments, and it has included asset based organizations as well
as service driven companies. Colin graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Economics and Business Administration. He then earned his Masters in Management (MBA) degree with Dean’s
List Honors from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University with concentrations in marketing, finance, and international business. He is a published author of numerous articles, a contributing
author to the McGraw Hill book, “The Green Building Bottom Line”, and is regularly quoted in local and national
publications, as well as on local and national television and radio programs. Colin is a Lecturer of Social Enterprise
at the Kellogg School of Management where he teaches “Sustainable Strategy”; and an adjunct professor at
Samford University teaching “The Economics of Sustainability”.
