Through the years, the Nursing Service Division (NSD) has been celebrating the
National Nurses Week during the 3rd week of October. With this year’s theme:
“Filipino Nurses Responding to the Demands and Challenges of Health Care in
the ASEAN”, the NSD Socio-Cultural Committee spearheaded the celebration
with various activities which aims to enhance professional and personal growth
and establish camaraderie among each other.
Last October 14, guest speaker Ms. Lizelle E. Villanueva, officer-In-Charge of the
Professional Development Center of the Manila Tytana Colleges, talked about
the ABC’s of Personal Image. The one hundred and four (104) total number of
attendees participated in the discussion on building self-esteem, developing
personal and projecting effective professional image. This was followed by a
thorough discussion of Dr. Francisca Roa, MDH Dermatologist, on “Skin Care:
How and Why?” After the seminar, the participants enjoyed the traditional Bingo
Social and Raffle draw of prizes wherein appliances and cash prizes were given
to lucky winners.
Large crowd witnessed the coronation of the 2015 MR. and MS. NSD held last
October 16, 2015. The pageant is the most awaited event as it is being held only
every two years. 16 candidates representing the different units of the division
showcased their beauty, confidence and astuteness especially in answering the
tough questions from the prestigious board of judges composed of Dr. Glenda
Arquiza, Professional Regulation Commission Board of Nursing, Atty. Glen
Luansing, lawyer, nurse and board reviewer, Honorable Yul Servo, Councillor of
Manila, and our very own Mr. Florencio Tenorio of the Finance Directorate. The
very talented men and women of NSD performed in between the competition
proper. “The Voice” 1st runner-up, Ms. Alisah Bonaobra was our special guest.
Mr. Reuben Cui and Ms. Laura De Leon were hailed as that night as they both
bagged two Special Awards: Best in Formal Wear / Evening Gown; Mr. and Ms.
Photogenic and were ultimately crowned as 2015 MR. and MS. NSD
respectively.
All candidates including the people involved in the success of
the activities, found that merely participating is an enriching and
interesting experience, strength building and confidence boosting.
Face and beauty alone cannot launch a thousand ships... but thru
unity and cooperation of each and every one, as proven once again
by the Nursing Service Division. Kudos to all!!!
In behalf of the Nursing Service Division, I congratulate and thank
all who supported the affair and to the Socio-Cultural Committee
chaired by our Deputy Assistant Nurse Manager, Ms. Reynalyn Elena
D. Alarcio for all the time and efforts to make the event a success.
