Always a step ahead – Company History
It all started in 1984 with the formation of ASO GmbH acting as a
provider of innovative products and services for various customer
requirements. At present ASO Safety Solutions in Salzkotten/Germany
develops, produces and distributes safety contact elements such as
safety contact edges, mats, bumpers and controls. The company prides
itself by working on world wide customized customer solutions
together with more than 75 employees.
The products are installed in every possible industry such as
safeguard at doors while entering trains and buses. They provide safety
at crushing and shearing points of automatic doors and gates as
well as protection for service personnel handling equipment.
In order to ensure maximized sustainability a quality management
system was introduced in 2006. The processes and procedures
are supervised and certified by an independent authority at regular
intervals. Continuing product innovation and consistent
process optimization are the basis for the ongoing economic success
when it comes to ASO GmbH.
Our mission
Regardless if it is a machine or door manufacturer or even stage
constructor the requirements with regard to safety and protection of end-users
and operators increase steadily. Furthermore ever changing guidelines
and standards impede the development of non-compliant engineering design.
ASO Safety Solutions as your partner and specialist provides exactly
those solutions which are necessary in this particular case. Solutions which
meet the individual requirements of the customer take centre
stage besides standardized solutions such as standard sizes for safety
contact mats.
Intelligent functions are our solution
The basis for these safety systems is represented by constant monitoring.
If required several safety contact elements can be wired in a serial connection.
The last safety contact edge is fitted with a terminal resistor which
is continuously monitored by an electronic evaluation unit. On the one hand a
short circuit or wire break can be prevented due to this particular
design; on the other hand once the contactor has been actuated the change in
the value of resistance can be recognized by the electronic evaluation
unit for the purpose of preventing a dangerous movement.

ASO-Safety contact edges
The safety contact edges of ASO Safety Solutions are
pressure-sensitive sensors applied to ensure the safety of
closing edges at possible crushing or shearing points which are
prone to accidents. They may be installed when it
comes to automatic gates, machines and other facilities for
handling equipment in order to protect individuals
from bodily harm.
Different systems and materials as
well as products made to the customers’
individual specifications enable
ASO GmbH to cover any imaginable
requests in which protection may
be needed.
The innovative design warrants the necessary braking and run out paths by taking legal rules and
regulations into account as a matter of course. Due to moulded wiring and adapted end caps self-assembly
of GE- and GE F-Safety contact edges is possible.
Inside all systems there are two conductive switching surfaces in which a copper wire has been installed.
The moulded plugs insure a permanent contact of the conductive layers of the switching unit.
For additional water protection, the contacted SKL is also sealed with end caps using a special contact
elastic glue to cover any gaps.
ASO-Safety contact edges are provided in various heights
and widths, with reverted edge seals and different possibilities for
mounting. Various braking and run out paths, and extensive
protection against susceptibility to damage can be established in this
manner by meeting your requirements flexibly. If the requested
profile is not available we will be glad to make a product to your exact
specifications.

ASO-Safety contact edges SKL Bending Angles and Radii
ASO-Safety contact edges adjust to any shape and form.
The closing edge to be safeguarded at different types
of equipment and facilities is very often not straight but follows
the shape of the equipment. In this case mounting profiles
are made to customers’ specifications by adapting them to the
desired shape. Based upon optimized production
processes these special orders can be manufactured rapidly,
just like standard profiles.

ASO -Safety contact bumper
Safety contact bumpers – also called bumpers –
are safety installations attached to transport vehicles,
AGV vehicles, high rack storage areas and flexible systems.
They are used in any given situation where safety facilities
require an overtravel distance.
Safety contact bumper ASB
The ASO-Safety bumper ASB consists of a
foam core glued to an aluminium
bracket section covered with cross-linked
polyurethane or NBR material
which in turn protects it from damage
and moisture.
Safety stop
A safety contact strip is located in the interior of the bumper which
is activated as soon as the bumper has been compressed.
This information is processed by the evaluation electronic unit and
therefore causes all movements to be brought to an immediate stop.
Due to the fact that the appropriate size for the safety contact bumper
is selected when it comes having the bumper activated as son as even
very low pressure is applied the safe stalling function is ensured.
Flexible and individual
ASO-Safety contact bumpers can be made to customers’ specifications
in various shapes, colours and sizes. When activated the short
response time of the bumper ensures an immediate control command
to stop the device. A soft foam core provides a long overtravel
distance, therefore offers sufficient protection to bring the
machine to a halt.

ASO-Safety contact mats
Safety contact mats are laminar sections which
are used to safeguard the entire industrial and production
automation. Stepping on the mat triggers an
immediate “stop” signal in order to prevent endangering
movements.
The ASO-Safety contact mats consist of a surface
area switch which has been encased in polyurethane to
ensure impermeability to water. This technique causes
the mat to be especially sturdy and resistant against
water, dust and other damaging factors.
The mats produced in series are provided
with a slip resistant surface.
This guarantees that by stepping
on the mat no slipping by the individual
ensues. Special areas of application
may also feature a surface made of
aluminium or stainless steel which in
turn respond very well to special
challenges with respect to the surface.
ASO Safety Solutions offers special shapes, sizes and colours
and several safety switch areas in one mat besides the cost efficient
standard mats in which the ramp rail has already been
integrated. This high flexibility enables ASO-Safety contact mats to
meet the requirements of the individual machine that
it is applied to.
Areas of application: Machines and
equipment
The running time and processes are constantly
optimized and accelerated. This results in
faster, more endangering movements
for individuals and material. Contact mats

mounting systems, heating elements or special
shapes assist in adapting the contact mat
optimally to the circumstances of its surroundings.
Area of application: Elevators and/or Lifts
New building constructions and increased
requirements for space ask for new concepts
with regard to elevators. Due to this
fact important space for survival in the
elevator well is lost. In order to prevent
injuries the ASO-Safety contact mat is used.
The mat can also prevent an unauthorized
individual from stepping on top of the roof of
the elevator.

ASO-Signal transmission systems
On moving doors and gates ASO-Signal transmission systems
take over the task to transmit the signal from the
moving safety contact edge maintenance- and wear free
to the control unit. This control unit guarantees a high level of
safety by being redundancy.
ASO-Signal transmission systems
For the signal transmissions there
are different ways available.
All ASO-Signal transmission systems are tested according to the
actual safety norms and standards. During the production process the
systems will be tested several times to ensure a high quality and
safety for the user.
The signal transmission system ISK solves the problem of
connecting mobile signal transmitters with stationary evaluation
without mechanical load, i.e. on an inductive basis. For this
purpose the monitoring electronic system induces a certain frequency
on a coil core which is integrated into a closed conductor loop.
Signal transmission system ISK
The second coil core to which the
mobile signal transmitters have been
connected receives this frequency.
In case of a cable break or activation of
the signal transmitter the respective
analyzable feedback is sent to
the evaluation electronic system.

ASO-Gate controls
Progress is a matter of course regardless of rolling shutter
gates, sliding or sectional gates. This is due to the fact
that efficient and comfortable operation of the particular gate
has to be ensured. On the other hand long opening cycles
downgrade the energy efficiency of the gate.
ASO-Gate controls
In future there will be three different
ASO controls for the optimum control of
gates. One of these systems will
also be a frequency converter control.
All controls feature a compact design and high flexibility.
Various communication ways between the control and the gate are possible.
Furthermore the control has been optimized for all latest safety
transfers. An additional safety orientated evaluation has been omitted.
ASO-Gate controls
are compact controls being
used for various types of
gates.
