BATHrOOM
Even in the period of 3000 year B.C. the water had
a strong religious value and was considered a healing element for the soul and body. While the Greek
heroes bathed in hot water to restore their strength,
romans built a large thermal baths for public relaxation and rejuvenation.
In the past, bathroom was considered a sanctuary and
has long been an important role in our lives. Its design is
much more developed now, there is a richer selection of
materials and lighting effects are fascinating, which makes
it easier to facilitate this space for relaxation.

you need to know the dimensions of sanitary elements and
evaluate the capacity of your bathroom. If the room is comfortable, you’ll have no trouble to put all the desired details,
from shelves to decorative floor vases, while the space of
only several square meters can present a problem. To design your bathroom most appropriately, you have to follow
the rules that determine the required dimensions for installation and use of bathroom equipment.

Corian and his upcoming Hotel “O” opening in Paris in
December 2010.
At the age of 20, Ora-Ito was thrown into the international spotlight when he successfully generated fake
publicity around the fake products he designed for
real luxury brands. Almost instantly, there was a
high demand for these nonexistent products — without
producing a single object, he became an instant design
icon. Soon after, he began to design real objects and successful brand collaborations grew in numbers. Today, at
the age of 33, Ora-Ito is recognized worldwide both as
a visionary designer and a transversal design brand. He
tackles each product with an innovative eye by putting
aside established codes.
And whether he is designing for his brand, a co-branding
partnership or another brand altogether, his creations are
marked with his concept, ‘Simplexity’ — the art of making
a complex object look simple.

PrINT IS
TrENDY
At the annual interior design fair in London, which is
organized every fall, the central place beside furniture, lighting
and accessories is textile. More than a half of 260 exhibitors
presented new trends in textile design. New technologies,
patterns, fabric types and colors are impressive.
Meble stoff (furniture fabric) is a term that has emerged from the combination of a French word Meuble – furniture, garniture and German
word Stoff - woolen fabric. It is accepted in everyday speech and
represents a changing textile - upholstery of furniture.
Furniture fabric manufacturers have found the right recipe to bring
together the beauty and usefulness; they did not subordinate the art
to comfort and utility. New trends in print are above all light color patterns, unstressed and subtle and range from pleasant floral, striped
and zigzag patterns. Flamboyant baroque patterns, smaller and more
moderate than in previous years, retro style prints of the 70s and the
80s, digital print and animal print, they are all also present.
SABA - LaCarmen
Design: Giuseppe Viganò. It is very interesting because of its “clamshell” backrest,
which when lifted, gives the impression of comfortable, intimate nest, and when the
backrest is down we have an informal, elegant chair. The structure is made of wood,
and a polyurethane foam filling, different density, which prevents distortion.

When we talk about interior lighting, of all the rooms in
the house the least importance is given to bathroom.
The average person makes humble investments in
the bathroom, because he directs them in the other
rooms which are busier, for instance the living room,
so it often happens that the bathroom is lightened with
only one lamp above the mirror.
As the bathroom suddenly became a place for relaxation and
“recharging batteries”, with elements such as modern shower and a bathtub, lighting requires further thought. Lighting
is now planned to fit with other elements of the bathroom,
because it becomes a very important segment of the interior.
After all, we start and finish our day in the bathroom.

enables the use of various lighting designing ideas, both
in the interior and the bathroom. LEDs, as point light
sources are widely used to emphasize certain details of
the bathroom. The shower, in which LED is installed, or
faucet and shelves, with hidden diodes, create a discreet
effect, which gives an overall picture of the space. An
interesting effect is created by installing of special point
LEDs in the conjunction between tiles.
Fiber optics or a starry sky, in lighting have various use
and often serve as additional decorative lighting and provide scattered dots in the ceiling. This effect becomes
more important especially in the bathroom, because
bathrooms are usually covered with a smooth reflective
material, so the effect of a starry sky can be reflected on
the space or the water. The most beautiful and unusual
reflection starry sky reflects on the basin beneath it, or
on the big glass window where you literally get a third
dimension.
The appearance of so called RGB LEDs, which have the
ability to change colors, is a growing trend in the design of lighting that has established itself, and it is one
of the reasons why scientists and medical practitioners
by examining the colors and the mood of people claim
that there is a strong link between these two terms - the
colors affect our emotional mood and therapeutically effect people.

impressive views…
The French architect was commissioned to design the façade, the penthouse and
the twelfth floor, which boasts twelve suites. In the
latter space he blends photography (lining the walls
with images of women and flowers) and architecture
to achieve a highly provocative space ideal for “experiencing exceptional moments”.
The terrace and bar prevail on the hotel’s penthouse
floor, as do a special small pool and spa. But there is
no doubt that this floor’s true standout is its impressive views of Madrid. This is one of the reasons it is
worth going up to the top of the hotel to enjoy these
services. The views of the cityscape and the Madrid
mountains are simply spectacular, the perfect place
to enjoy a drink and relax after a day spent working or
visiting museums. Nouvel has also designed a glass
walkway that connects the different spaces, although
it is not recommended for vertigo sufferers! A semicircle with a glass floor, it reveals the whole façade of
the hotel right down to the ground.
On the façade, Nouvel plays with the premise of freedom, the cornerstone of the project, by displaying the
poem Freedom by Éluard in various languages and in
large letters printed on coloured awnings in red, yellow,
orange and other colours, totally covering the Hotel

Sinuous lines, fluid spaces…
“The Client allowed us full autonomy,
the brief – to design a floor of a hotel
comprising 30 rooms and all common parts. The objective,
to ensure a dynamic and customized project. We took the
opportunity to create a new domestic language of architecture, driven by new developments in digital design and
enhanced manufacturing capabilities. This new dialogue
emphasises the complex and continuous nature of the design and the merging of disparate forms and texture. In the
rooms floor, wall and furniture are all one continuous surface
or skin, making them pieces of art. Every single element – the
walls, bedroom door with its LED signs, sliding door to the
bathroom, bathtub and vanity unit, bed, shelves, chair and
a cantilevered bench by the window which doubles up as a
table - is rounded in a single curved sweep.”
Zaha Hadid
Zaha Hadid is one of the most famous contemporary architects. The first woman to win a Pritzker Prize has designed
the first floor, a space that stands out for its fluidity and interplay of daring lines. The rooms almost seem to be liquid
rather than space, where the choice of innovative materials
is yet another outstanding feature. Her search for an aesthetic vision includes all fields of design, from large exteriors
to interiors and furniture. Her style is clearly defined by thin,
projected, pointy volumes set in unified groups around eccentric centres. Lobby and hallway is a white, clean, provocative space with excellent lighting. First we notice a slim,
sinuously shaped lamp christened with the name Vortex
to the brightness furnished by white. Everything seems to is-

FASHION WEEK
Fashion Week event lovers will enjoy the 27th Belgrade Fashion Week from 19th to 25th of April.
Fashion Week is once more held by sponsorship of the Belgrade Parliament at the most attractive city locations, with the central place at the EXPO XXI. Fashion studio “Click”, as the organizer of this prestigious event,
will try to make the program as attractive and interesting as it’s been every year so far. Taking into account
that at the global level, one of the most significant events during 2010 is the FIFA World Cup, and that football
is the most important secondary thing for most men, as fashion is for most women, the organizers decided
to combine these two phenomena! In the opening ceremony of the most important national event, famous
fashion designers will present models inspired by football, and urban dance groups will show their vision of the
theme by choreographic miniatures, dressed in attractive NIKE models! We are used to enjoy presentations of
renowned local designer names in Fashion Week, and that will also be the case at this 27th edition - Dragana
Ognjenović, Irena Grahovac, Bata Spasojević, Tamara Radivojević, Viktorija Džimrevska, Tijana and Mila Popović, Jovana Marković, Ksenija Marković, designers gathered around the brand Dressing, and many others.
One of the main missions of Belgrade Fashion Week is the revelation and recognition of young talents, so this
time too, the significant part of the program will be dedicated to young and still non-established designers.
All these years the organizer has been trying to acquire the status of a serious business for fashion, as it is in
developed countries. In that context, the global fashion brands, represented in our market will show their latest collections. The most famous among them certainly are: Hugo Boss, Replay, Guess, N fashion, Monsoon,
Accessorize, Attrattivo... The part of the program is also dedicated to the most important fashion houses such
as Ivković, Bugatti, Martini News…
The closing ceremony will be marked by the show of one of the most popular designers Darko Kostić, who
will be celebrating 10 years in fashion. Because of all this, we are looking forward to the start of yet another
fashion week…

LrX in concept form for the first time was
presented at last year’s salon in Detroit and
Geneva. With dynamic design and very
attractive, Land rover’s LrX concept
collected many compliments, and for the
first time it was confirmed that the car will
be available in production.
Design of the serial version will be practically calmer version of LRX. It has a concept of an attractive car with
a high side line, which rises from the front of the vehicle towards the rear. Very small rear glass, wide fender
arches and a dynamic look of a front part of the vehicle
with narrow front lights, characterizes the perfection of
this model.
The concept vehicle Land Rover LRX had a new two-liter
hybrid engine that spent only 4.7 L per 100 KM using biodiesel fuel. Other elements of the conceptual version will
probably be retained in the serial model, too, such as panels of carbon fiber and stop-start systems. New concept
vehicle Land Rover LRX will also be specific because it will
have iPhone integration and navigation.

BArOLO
gianni gagliardo winEry
The Gianni Gagliardo winery is located in La Morra, in front of a breathtaking view. The winery was born when two
men fell across by chance. In 1973 in fact Gianni Gagliardo, native of the roero area, moved to the Langhe and
started to work with Paolo Colla, his father-in-law. Paolo Colla was a farmer devoted to quality and deeply in love
with Barolo, and Gianni was a ready and willing young man with a good entrepreneurial vocation. This was the start
of a sort of “alliance”, a collaboration in which the farmer culture was going to join the business attitude.
In 1986 the decision was taken to continue the business under the brand Gianni
Gagliardo and from then on the evolution has been substantial. For example, the first
specialized vineyard of Favorita grapes was planted, taking the wood from the collection of the University of Turin.
Later on, was the slow and steady development of the vineyards in Barolo, through
the acquisition of small plots in some of the best exposures in La Morra, Barolo, Serralunga and Monforte.
Today the Nebbiolo vineyards are 11 and make the winery one of the best interpreters
of this varietal. The balance and the utmost respect of the plants and the land are key
points in the vineyards care. The cellar has then followed the same path with the building
of new premises totally underground, in order to limit as much as possible the impact on
the environment and to take advantage of the gravity force. The result is an extraordinary
round up of Nebbiolos that starts from Roero and ideally go through the Barolo area.
Stefano Gagliardo, Gianni’s first born, has been involved in the winery project since his
youth and today the style of the wines is under his responsibility. Together with him, his
brother Alberto is mainly taking care of the vineyards.
With the Brand Villa M the family produces the aromatic sweet wines of Piedmont,
such as Moscato Bianco and Brachetto.
