A18 WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2011 THE EPHRATA REVIEW Rec Retro Connection Biggest Loser 12 information meeting Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The Rec will kick off its 12th session of Biggest Loser with an information meeting on Tuesday, August 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rec Center. The 10-week program will run from September 11 through November 20. In its brief three-year history, the Rec’s BL program has seen over 750 registrants lose just shy of 15,000 pounds (7½ tons). The numbers alone could speak for the success of this program, but what the numbers don’t tell are of the personal triumphs, friendships, and life changing moments that occur during a Biggest Loser session. Many of these have been expressed by BL participants themselves in the Biggest Loser Corner on The Ephrata Review sports page. And professional staff along with superior facilities make the Rec’s Biggest Loser program a cut above similar programs. In addition to twice weekly workouts with their trainers, BL participants get seve day/week access (over 100 hours) to the Rec’s 42,000 sq. ft. facility that includes indoor pool, gymnasium, whirlpool, saunas, steam rooms and state-of-the art Wellness Center. The Wellness Center features a cardio studio equipped with Octane elliptical trainers, Cybex ARC trainers, treadmills, stationary bikes and Cardiovision entertainment system. Also, a complete 14 machine strength training circuit and free weights, everything needed for those serious about a lifestyle makeover. For more information on BL12 contact Natalie Wilde at 738-1167 (ext. 110). Keith McClure, assistant director of the Ephrata Recreation Center, presented Rec Slow-Pitch Softball League trophies to regular season champion Hill Top and tournament champion Bob’s in August of 1972. The recipients included (left to right): Bruce Frymyer, captain of Hill Top; Leon Summers, manager; Mike Miller, Bob’s manager; and Neil Steffy, captain of Bob’s.
