Use of electrical loads with a power rating higher than installed or recommended by Nautech Electronics Ltd, or use
of inappropriate or inadequate wiring or circuit protection may cause this warranty to become void. Failure or destruction of the product resulting from abuse or unusual use and/or accidents is not covered by this warranty.

damages whether the loss is due to negligence or breach of warranty. Nautech Electronics Ltd makes no other express or implied warranty including, without limitation, warranties of fitness or merchantability, with respect to this

Product Returns
If a product must be returned for repair or replacement*, please contact Nautech Electronics Ltd to obtain a Return
Goods Authorisation Number (RGA number) (proof of purchase may be required) before you ship the product to
Nautech Electronics Ltd New Zealand. Write the RGA number clearly on the package near the mailing label. Be
sure you use sufficient packing materials to avoid damage to the product being returned whilst in transit.
*Nautech Electronics reserves the right to repair or replace at its discretion. Nautech Electronics assumes no responsibility or liability for expenses incurred for the removal and/or reinstallation of products requiring service and/or
repair, nor for the packaging, handling, and shipping; nor for the handling of products returned to sender after the

SLC (Siren Lights Controller)
The Nautech SLC4001 is an integral part of the Nautech emergency warning system. It controls
and synchronises the various emergency lighting systems and audible sirens. The SLC4001 also
provides wired outputs and accepts wired inputs. As part of the NAUBUS system, it utilises CAN
bus and acts as the Master unit within the network. Interconnect wiring is standard with all NAUBUS products making for simple plug and play installation.

a sedan and above the left rear wheel arch in a station wagon

PCU (Power Control Module)
The Nautech PCU is a power distribution unit designed to work stand alone or with the Naubus range of
products. The PCU replaces the conventional fuse box, controlling power to a range of equipment within
the vehicle.
As well as intelligent fusing, the PCU protects against overload and monitors the current draw of each
output. It also allows for staged shutdown of outputs when the battery is heavily discharged. User programmable output control, switch off timers and shutdown levels make the PCU a complete power management tool.
PCU is mounted in the boot on the gear plate, passenger side.

PCU Configuration and Monitoring
The PCU has been designed to be flexible but also straight forward to meet a variety of customers
needs. Nautech provide a user interface (GUI) for PCU configuration and channel monitoring.
The GUI can be downloaded form the Nautech Electronic website www.Nautech.com.au
For full instructions for downloading the gui refer to DOC00032.
To monitor PCU channels or change configuration setting the PCU needs to be connected to a PC via
the USB cable.
For full instructions for how to use the monitoring and configuration function refer to DOC00023
PCU Output Harness
The spare fused outputs from the PCU are terminated in a plug located in a sedan above the left hand
rear wheel arch and in a station wagon above the right hand wheel arch. The default configuration for
these outputs is listed in the table below.

The Nautech UGI is a gateway device which allows data to be read from the GM LAN whilst maintaining the vehicles integrity. GM LAN Data can then be used to control outputs which in turn can
control or provide signals to after market equipment. Data can also be made available via the USB
port to computers or MDT’s.

UGI vehicle connection
The UGI is connected to the vehicle via the Trailer Interface Connector (TIM). The TIM connector is
located in the left rear corner of the sedans and station wagons.
The UGI is connected in Utes via the diagnostics connector. The diagnostics connector is located
under the steering column area.

The Nautech IOM will act as a logic interface between NAUBUS and vehicle systems allowing more
customisable installations. The IOM will also provide inputs and outputs suitable for adding features
to NAUBUS such as driving extra LED modules, controlling Headlight Flasher units, ATIS output and
HFI interface. The IOM is compact in size and configurable allowing use in most modern vehicles.

Anti-Theft Ignition System (ATIS)
Allows a vehicle’s engine to continue to run when the vehicle’s key is removed from the ignition as long
as the vehicle is in park. The driver can leave the vehicle locked for increased security. ATIS will automatically be enabled when the RCH is in the ‘secondary’ or ‘primary’ mode and the gear selector is in
the park position or manually enabled by pressing the ATIS ENABLE button on the RCH. The unit will
beep when the system is activated and the key can be removed from the ignition.
The ATIS has an ‘engine kill’ feature that operates when the vehicle gear select lever is moved if the
key is not present. To resume operation of the vehicle re-insert the ignition key and turn on the ignition.
NOTE:
The vehicle transmission must be in either PARK or NEUTRAL for the ATIS to operate.
ATIS is part of the IOM
ATIS is activated by pressing the ATIS ENABLE button on the RCH (Remote Control Head). Or by activating the ‘Primary’ or ‘Secondary’ functions on the
RCH.

The Nautech RCH4000 provides control of all light and siren functions via NAUBUS communication.
The control panel’s tactile buttons and rotary switch provide the user a positive sensory feedback. LED’s
indicate which lights and functions are activated. The rotary switch also provides LED indication of the
current operational modes. Multicolour LED indicates IGN Bypass modes and fault conditions. Ignition
Bypass allows control of the lights and siren without the need to have the keys in the ignition. Wiring is
standard with all NAUBUS products making for simple plug and play installation.

windscreen lights and also activates the flashing grille lights (during
daytime driving).
Activates the rear RED/BLUE flashing lights in the light bar, rear windscreen and tail lights.
Gives one burst of the wail tone when the rotary knob is in any position.
If the ‘ALERT’ button has been pressed. The ’SIREN’ button will toggle the siren tone on and off.
Activates all lights and ‘WAIL’ tone. Siren tone can be changed by
pressing the horn pad on the steering wheel.
Activates the left alley light in the light bar.
Activates the right alley light in the light bar.
Activates the take down lights in the lightbar.
Activate the ATIS function if the vehicles ignition is on and the transmission is in the park position.

SLC Programming Instructions Via the RCH
The SLC has various functional modes which can be programmed via the RCH. To enter the SLC’s programming mode turn the rotary switch on the RCH to “SEC” mode, then press “FRONT FLASH” and
“ALERT” keys simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds.
The unit will issue a series of short beeps followed by a longer beep to signify programming mode has
been enabled. The Corresponding LED will indicate active functions. Pressing the designated keys will
toggle the SLC between the corresponding modes.

Battery Management System (BMS)
The BMS accurately monitors the battery voltage in dual battery applications and automatically manages charging and isolation of batteries to extend battery life and performance. The unit includes a
50A fuse for the “Auxiliary” output. An optional RS485 Interface is available for connection to monitoring equipment. The BMS Relay will parallel the two batteries once the primary battery voltage is
>13.7V, if the battery voltage drops below 12.8V for 2 minutes the relay will disengage, isolating the
batteries.

Solid LED indicates the relay is engaged.
GREEN
Once the Primary (Start) battery has reached 13.7V or greater the BMS relay will engage,
paralleling both batteries. The relay will stay engaged until the voltage drops to below 12.8V for a period of 2mins, indicated by Red LED
Once the BMS disengages (primary voltage below 12.5V) the LED will provide the status of both batteries by briefly flashing the LED twice approximately every 3 seconds.
The first flash = Start Battery >12.5V = Green, <12.5V = Red
The second flash = Aux Battery >12.5V = Green <12.5V = Red
Note: If the primary voltage drops below 11.5V, the relay will immediately disengage.
The BMS is mounted above the auxiliary battery.

The Hands Free Interface allows the Driver of the vehicle to use the VHF or UHF radio and Hands Free
Mic by pressing a button on the steering wheel to transmit instead of holding the hand held microphone.
The hands free microphone is located on the driver’s ‘A’ pillar.
