Rules & Information
Welcome
Welcome to the Saturday Night Alive Silent Auction
BID HIGH! BID OFTEN! Anything you bid over the listed value is tax
deductible and helps bring the arts to Colorado kids.
Before bidding, read each description carefully. Pay close attention to all
restrictions and limitations. Values are based on retail prices as provided by
each donor. All items are nonexchangeable and non-refundable. Appropriate
sales tax will be added to your bid at the end of the evening. All hotels and air
transportation are subject to availability and blackout dates may apply. Hotel
nights must be consecutive unless otherwise stated. Expiration dates cannot
be extended.
Computer bidding devices are located throughout the auction area to
help you place your winning bid. Bidding on the same item can take place
simultaneously at more than one terminal. Warning: if you wait until the last
minute, you may not find an available computer!
You also may enter a Maximum Bid. With a Maximum Bid, when you’re
outbid, the system will automatically increase your bid up to your maximum
bid amount. We only increase your bid by increments necessary to maintain
your position as highest bidder. Volunteers are available to help you with the
bidding process. Bids for items valued in excess of $5,000 must be increased
by a minimum of $500. Bids for items valued between $2,500 and $4,999
must be increased by a minimum of $250. All other bids must be increased by
a minimum of $100.
Bidding will begin at the Patron Party at the Westin Denver Downtown on
February 18 and continue at Saturday Night Alive. Bidding will take place
in the Helen Bonfils lobby from 6pm to 7:30pm and continue in the Seawell
Grand Ballroom during dinner between 7:30pm and 9:15pm. The computers
will automatically shut down at 9:15pm. The last fully completed bid at that
time will determine the winning bid. Computers get very crowded during
dinner, so bid high early in the evening.
Please pay for your item(s) in the lobby after the performance. Payment may
be made by cash, check or credit card (American Express, MasterCard, Visa
or Discover). Items purchased must be removed at the end of the evening
unless other arrangements have been made.
Thank you for your generosity!

What a special honor it is to be Auction Chair for the
35th anniversary of Saturday Night Alive!
The National Endowment for the Arts’ recent study
correlates adult theatre ticket sales to exposure to
the arts in childhood. Your participation secures
the steady flow of canary yellow buses, unloading
thousands of students squealing with delight as they
prepare to attend the theatre, some for the very first
Claudia Miller
time. Who knows what will be born of their time here:
perhaps the next Robin Williams or Meryl Streep; the
genius of a playwright like Eugene O’Neill or Tennessee Williams; future drama
teachers to stir the creative spirit of students; or a life-long relationship with
the theatre viewed from beyond the footlights in a cozy theatre seat, as the
light dims, and the curtain opens to the magic of a story unfolding. Laughter,
tears, recognition, understanding. It is all there in the theatre. And it begins
here!
Please open your hearts and wallets as others have done! We salute The Salah
Foundation’s matching grant of $125,000; look for their logo on many items in
the catalog and your bid will be matched up to $125,000. We salute our loyal
partners United Airlines and The Westin Denver Downtown and its Starwood
partners for donating anew the exciting travel destinations for which we are
well known; Colorado State Bank and Trust, our Silent Auction sponsor; and
welcome our new Surprise Box partner, Cherry Creek North. Please join all of
them in our support for the DCPA’s Arts in Education programs.
Special thanks go to Susan Stiff, our Saturday Night Alive Event Chair, for her
tireless support of the arts.
And, finally, please salute my fellow Denver Center Alliance members of the
Saturday Night Alive Auction Committee whose zeal is legendary. The auction
generates almost a quarter of a million dollars due, in large part, to their
relationship to local, national and international contacts who are retailers,
hoteliers, restaurateurs, artists and more!
With deep appreciation,

It’s a great opportunity to spend a fantastic
evening with friends and associates, enjoy
great food and entertainment, and contribute to the cultural
enrichment of our children, as well. As you know, funds raised tonight
benefit the arts in education programs offered by the Denver Center
for the Performing Arts. These programs benefit thousands of metro
area children.
Last year, the DCPA provided more than 600 school interactions
offering a broad range of theatre-based experiences. Participation in
DCPA Education programs was up 20%, reaching more than 68,000
students and theatre enthusiasts. Exposure to the arts is shown to
improve literacy rates, math aptitude, critical thinking and problemsolving skills, essential traits for future leaders. Thanks to the DCPA
for providing these experiences and thanks to all of you for helping
to make them possible.
A note of appreciation, too, to the staff and volunteers including
Claudia Miller, who organized the auction this year, and to the many
local merchants who contributed. Given the fantastic array of luxury
auction items, I’m confident in our ability to help take the arts to
even more schools in 2015.
I encourage you to put those checkbooks and credit cards to good
use and have a wonderful evening.

President and CEO

Take the Challenge!
Salah Foundation Challenge
Saturday Night Alive is the grateful recipient of a
