Getting to Know You by Donna Najewski ! The month of January is said to be the opposite of activity! The holiday season is over, spring is a long way off, it's the dead of winter, and our body and mind start behaving accordingly. As we face the One Five, let us not be confident in ourselves or our best plans or wishes, but in God who saved us and watches over us. (Philippians 1:6) Here are just a few tips for a positive New Year from Guideposts’, Jon Gordon:! ! Live with the 3 E's Energy, Enthusiasm, Empathy.! Focus on "Get to” vs. "Have to." Each day focus on what you get to do, not what you have to do. ! Life is a gift not an obligation.! At bedtime, complete the following statements: I am thankful for ______. Today I accomplished ______.! ! ! Our featured family this month really know how to make a celebration! Their holidays include their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren! Wanness and Linda Stoval have been attending STBT since the summer of 1996, and have both experienced spiritual growth since then. Wanness says, "I have not only grown in age, but also in my faith in God. I have learned humility and patience and developed a deeper love for God, as well as for my brothers and sisters in Christ.” Linda adds, "I share the gospel more with family and friends. My Bible reading has increased and I also enjoy watching televised preaching." Linda is involved in the nursery and cleaning ministries.! ! Wanness James Stovall was born on February 22, 1935, in Prinston, Alabama. He started at the Ford Motor Company as an apprentice and later earned a degree in maintenance engineering from Governors State University. He retired after 44 years and later worked as a consultant. Wa n n e s s s h a r e s h i s salvation testimony as this: "I was sa ved in Ju n e 1 9 7 3 , d u r i n g revival at Palmer Park Baptist Church in Dolton, Illinois. The church then moved to Midlothian, but I never felt like I belonged. We were looking for a new church home; and, when we visited STBT, we knew this was where we belonged!" In his younger days, Wanness was an avid b o w l e r, g o l f e r a n d played softball and tennis; but, today he enjoys trips to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Naples, Florida. One of the most adventurous things he has done was to fly in a private plane with his son as the pilot. You might be surprised to learn that Wanness is half Cherokee Indian and half Irish.! ! Linda Lou Springs was born on February 18, 1943, in Thompsonville, Illinois, and has 1 brother and 2 sisters, of which 1 is deceased. She attended college for food and sanitation services and later operated 2 service/gas stations, and is now retired. Linda shares the details of her salvation: "Pastor Sullivan led me to Christ when I was 13 years old. It was during revival at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, in Thompsonville." She met Wanness while working at the gas station, and they just celebrated 34 years of marriage on New Year's Eve! They have 6 children: John, Jill, Lorraine, Lisa, Guido and Scott. Linda enjoyed roller coasters and likes to stay up late, but her favorite vacation spot are the beaches and ocean in Naples, Florida. ! ! We conclude our interview with the Stovalls shared memory verse: John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosover believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Wanness adds, "I'm still amazed that Jesus loved me enough to die for my sins." Linda says, "This verse always reminded me of God's love." 2 Corinthians 1:20 ! “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” 3 Lores to the Ladies by Laurie Humbert Happy New Year! 1 Kings 8:56 ! “Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: ! We wake on the morning of Thursday, January 1st with a fresh start. Amen! You’ll face those first waking hours knowing that your New Year has begun full of promise and expectation – with no mistakes in it … yet. So, Ladies, let’s take to heart God’s loving guidance for this New Year as He says, “I will put a NEW spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh: That they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.” Ezekiel 11:19-20! ! As we begin our New Year in L.I.F.T., my prayer is that YOU will be active this year in this ministry. It will give you the opportunity to be actively involved in the lives of our missionaries, as well as building stronger friendships with the ladies of STBT as we serve the Lord together. Each meeting will always include an inspirational segment that will encourage us to ‘walk in Gods’ statutes, and to keep His ordinances’, and to do them.’ The LIFT officers have some exciting plans for the 2015 L.I.F.T. year and we want you to be a part of it. So plan to be at the January 19 th L.adies I.nspirational F.ellowship T.ime at 7:00 PM in the fellowship hall. Remember that there will be childcare provided.! there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.” Lindsay Garcia 1/3!
