(June 12, 2013) – LivingHomes is introducing the next-generation version of the LivingHome C6 at Dwell on Design, June 21-23 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Curated by the editors of Dwell Magazine, the conference is the largest modern design show in the U.S. The 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom C6, decorated with sustainable furniture, art and fixtures, will be open for tours daily at Dwell on Design. In addition, the first LivingHome C6 to be completed will be open for scheduled Open House June 23 in Van Nuys. And although it’s a bit bigger in size, the price remains the same.” LivingHome C6 The C6 was designed in partnership with Make It Right, a nonprofit founded by Brad Pitt and renowned architect William McDonough to build 150 Cradle to Cradle inspired LEED Platinum homes in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each C6 helps support the efforts of the Make It Right Foundation. The new C6.1 is 1,288 square feet, slightly larger than the first C6.1 and well below the national average of 2,380 sf for new homes (NAHB, 2011). The new 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom C6.1 includes larger windows, larger bedrooms, and a new exterior cladding system and roof treatment. At Dwell, the showcase C6 includes a number of new options/features from sponsors including Nest, Western Window Systems, Autodesk, Armstrong Cabinets, Rejuvenation and Kohler: • • • • • • • • • • Combining technology and design, the Nest Learning Thermostat programs itself to help save energy in the C6. New window system from Western Window Systems including a two-panel slider which opens up nearly an entire wall in the living/dining/kitchen area. Armstrong Cabinet’s Origins Series, combining the durability of plywood construction with the environmental benefits of low emitting materials. Retro energy--efficient lighting by Rejuvenation. Kohler fixtures that combine design and functionality with water saving efficiency. Chairs, planters, plantings and garden accents from Potted.
