Coaxial relays
Series R
The coaxial relays of the series R and T-R
are characterized through excellent
RF-specifications and an enormous
type variety. More than 100 000 different
models can be selected.
A short overview of the existing models
is shown in the following chapter in this
catalogue.
Configurations
Within the one-way and multi-way relays
up to seven different basic configurations
are available:
쮿 Without any supply voltage the contacts
can be normally open (NO), terminated or
connected to ground.
쮿 One contact can be normally closed,
all others are open, terminated or
connected to ground as desired.
쮿 All inputs and/or outputs are normally
terminated.
We also offer coaxial transfer and bypass
relays with similar configurations.
The codes used are:
쮿 RX for transfer relays
쮿 RY for bypass relays
Switch configuration
Available are coaxial 1-way-switches (SPST)
to coaxial 12-way-switches (SP12T) as well as
coaxial transfer and bypass switches
(specials on request).

Coaxial connectors
Following coaxial connectors are available:

Coil and supply voltage
The coil voltage (control input F, G, C, X)
is optional +5 V DC, +12 V DC or +24 V DC.
Supply voltage for control inputs L and Z
is +5 V DC.
Control inputs
The control input and the coil voltage are
connected by means of DC-feedthrough
filters or SUB-D connectors on request.

Coaxial relay modules with IEEE-488- and RS-232-C-interface
Series KRM
Cassettes of the type "KRM" can be used to
switch various signals and represent a cheap
alternative to relay switching units (KRE).
The mounted relay is controlled via the
IEEE-488- and/or the RS-232-C-interface.
The IEEE-488-device-address must be adjusted
internally via a DIP-switch. A lower priced
alternative is the type which is controlled
only via a RS-232-C-interface.
A LED at the front panel shows the status
of the cassette. Three different standard
types of relays are available (others on
request).
Mostly all the standard types are deliverable
at short notice.

Controller card BK517 for
mounting in units
The BK517 is presented as a card in
Euro-board format. It can be used as a
stand-alone unit as well as in combination
with additional cards offered from
MTS Systemtechnik. The card is based
on the microcontroller C517A-LN.
The interface is based on the ECB-bus.
Generally there are integrated
two serial interfaces, 9 x 8 I/O-ports,
one IEEE-488-interface and maximal eight
analogue inputs.
Also available are the interrupt lines 0 - 5.
The firmware is stored on a flash module
which is plugged on a PLCC-socket.
You can use standard 64 K- or 128 K-EPROMs,
EEPROMs or FLASH-EPROMs according to the
JEDEC-standard as well.
It is possible to contact a module for
manual operation (e. g. a keyboard and a
display or a touchpanel) according to
MTS-standards. It is necessary to purchase the
firmware from MTS to use the card features.
Depending on the configuration of the card,
MTS does develop special firmware.
The controller card BK517 is able to cope with
a heavy workload. MTS uses the card in
various units, e. g. relay switching units (KRE).
Interface modul
RS232/RS485
This card module changes via the RS232- or
RS485-interfacing 16 open-collector-outputs.
It is available as stand-alone component or
as unit in combination with other modules
(e. g. relays, attenuators, etc.).

The signal dividers of the series RS are
resistive dividers which offer very good
linearity over the entire frequency range.
These dividers can be used also at low
frequencies or DC.
Isolation and insertion loss depend on
the number of outputs. Therefore
resistive dividers are suitable for
measuring applications.
In any case it is important to terminate
all inputs and outputs inclusive the unused
outputs with the nominal impedance
of the splitter.
The dividers are generally based on
a resistive PI-element and can be used as
signal combiners too.
Customized signal dividers are available
on request (e. g. Y connected dividers with
other technical data)
(At Y connected dividers each connector
can be used as input or output.).

At RF-technology often it is necessary to
attenuate a RF-signal defined with a digital
control signal. For that applications we
offer the types of the series PAS.
For the frequency range DC to 2500 MHz
switchable attenuators are available
with steps of 0,5, 1 or 2 dB.
A RS232- or a RS485-interface was integrated
to control the units via PC.
The controlling is realized via ASCII-strings.
The attenuators are available in 50-Ω- and in
75-Ω−technology. Precision relays are used
as switching elements in the PAS-series.
These relays enable to work up RF-signals
with DC voltage parts.
RF-connectors are alternatively SMA-, BNC-,
N-, or TNC-types (all female).
SMB, SMC or other connectors are
possible on request.

Series PAH
The attenuator named PAH-4000/93-5440 is
based on semiconductor devices. It is
developed for the use between 200 and
4000 MHz.
The frequency tapes from GSM, DECT,
UMTS, bluetooth (ISM), etc. are in this
frequency range. The attenuation of the
unit is adjustable continuously and without
breaks from 0 to 93 dB. The PAH 4000 can
be used very flexible because of its compact
style and the controlling via I2C-bus, e. g.
with MTS controller card BK 517 or with any
PC with the fitting interface.

Series DGL
In the series DGL we offer fixed
attenuators combined with all saleable
coaxial connectors (jack or plug).
The operator doesn´t need expensive
adapters and prevents measuring errors as
result of bad impedance matching between
the adapter and the attenuator.
The coaxial attenuator series DGL is designed
to meet specifications within a frequency
range from DC to 1000 MHz. Some models
are designed for single hole front panel
mounting.
Various types are available with standard
attenuation values of 1 dB, 3 dB, 6 dB, 10 dB
or 20 dB ex stock in Donauwörth.

Generally our aircirculation ventilation units
are made as 19"units from a height
of 1HU (1 HU = 43,6 mm).
The customer can choose between
1, 2 or 3 raws of ventilators in the depth.
We offer the 230 V AC units with the
types of ventilators named A, B or C, the
12 V DC versions with the types named D or
E and the 24 V DC versions with the types
F or G (see page 41).
The ventilation units series LE are
open at the bottom side.
We can offer finger protectors or

The front sucking ventilation units are
available with 2 HU front panels
(2 HU = 88 mm).
The customer can select between
1, 2 or 3 raws of ventilators in the depth.
We offer the 230 V AC units with the
types of ventilators named A, B or C, the
12 V DC versions with the types named D or
E and the 24 V DC versions with the types
F or G (see page 41).
The exact ordering designation
is described at page 40.
Generally the front sucking ventilation
units are equipped with a large dust filter
at the side of the air suction.
This dust filter is mounted horizontally
below the fans. With this construction you
reach a homogeneous contamination
and a very long life cycle of the filter.
Air flow direction
The unit sucks in the air at its front side,
filters it and blows it upwards.
