The POCI convention will be here soon in the beautiful town of Louisville, Ky so if you can make it, please put it on your calendars! PREZ SEZ Hello GMC Truck Chapter members! I hope this month’s newsletter finds each and every one finally thawing out from this crazy Winter weather that has been going on all over the world! Our weather has warmed up nicely and of course here in Oklahoma with warm weather we get thunderstorms so now we have warnings popping up all the time! And with Spring comes the allergies because of all the new pollens and whatever blowing around. Also with Spring here comes the car shows! Kind a quiet this month but so there will be so many it will be hard to choose which one to go to and which one not! We are excited to show off our ‘57 GMC Napco with finally being finished! (Editors note: see “Best of Show” award photo above, congrats!) And our house finally getting built with a awesome shop behind!! Just a few notes about my rebuild of the GMC. First of all take a lot of pictures, it won’t matter how many you take it won’t be enough! And take them from different angles as I found out the hard way if I had looked at the part just a little different angle I might have been able to see exactly what I needed instead of something else being in the way. Check your parts that are needed and check them again before ordering new ones as I found out the hard way there are 3 sizes of bed lengths for ‘57 GMC trucks. I knew there was a short bed and a long bed but there are 2 sizes of long bed trucks 89” and a 97”. But all that is behind me and now I am having a lot of fun since getting the truck back on the road fun watching other people’s reactions to the truck. Paul is waiting on me again so I will close for now! I wish everyone a safe year and lets show off those GMC trucks!! David Bailey, GTC Prez. So it looks to be a busy year for us too! I want to thank Paul and Ron for taking care of the club business and the newsletter. If anyone makes a show please take Page 2 From the April 2015 edition of “Cruisin’ News” Please support our advertisers! Page 3 From The Driver’s Seat There is no doubt that things are getting much busier for everyone this time of year... and when you throw new grandchildren into the mix it’s EXTRA busy! I am encouraged to see some GMCs signing up for the Louisville convention. So far we have these coming: • 1957 Suburban • 1986 Pickup • 1987 Vandura • 1991 Syclone Our annual chapter meeting has been scheduled for Friday, July 24 from 9-10 am in the Perry Room of the Crowne Plaza (host hotel). Let Prez David know if you have any agenda items for the meeting. Now is the time to get registered and sign up for the convention activities! Until next issue... Keep on Truckin’! Paul Bergstrom, Editor 2015 POCI Convention Louisville, KY Louisville Fair and Expo Center July 21-25 On-line registration is available at poci.org. To add premium accommodations to the abundant power of the new 2015 Sierra Denali HD, we took our lead from a yacht. We put a comfortable, quiet and sophisticated cabin on top of the proven powertrain of the available Duramax 6.6L V-8 Turbo Diesel and Allison® transmission. Over 1 million of them are on the road with over 100 billion combined miles. Inside there’s burnished aluminum trim, a durable soft-touch instrument panel with contrasting stitching and leather-appointed perforated front seats with dual-firmness foam. Nearly two-thirds of the cab structure is made from high-strength steel, which contributes to its quiet cabin. All of this proves that Sierra HD is more than just a truck. It’s incredible thinking in the form of a heavy-duty truck. THE NEW GMC SIERRA DENALI HD. THAT’S PROFESSIONAL GRADE. T:7.5” *Available OnStar 4G LTE in vehicles produced starting fall 2014. I am not a member here but I collect photos of 1960-66 GM pickups, particularly GMCs. I’m trying to find as many factory photos (and just period photos) as I can. I’m especially interested in factory-correct trucks, not modified ones. Is there any way I could query your members to see if there are any GMC guys out there that have photos like this? I’m also on the hunt for a clean, unmolested, original 60-66 GMC pickup as well. I’m looking for one with low miles and original paint. I’m especially interested in a 4x4.
