GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC)
Minutes – March 18, 2015
President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Twenty-eight
members were in attendance.
ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUESTS
 Freddie thanked the Club for the beautiful flowers and to other members who
sent her cards after her surgery. They meant so much to her.
 She also thanked Judy Smith for helping Jay Robinson in hosting the dinner
out to Treasure Island. The turnout was great along with good food and
service.
SECRETARY’S REPORT
 Tom Murph moved the minutes from the February meeting be accepted as
written. Seconded by Bob Haugh.
TREASURER’S REPORT
 Herbie Smith provided the report.
VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT
 Freddie called for the following committee reports:
SOCIAL:
 Tom Brooks recapped the following:
 April 4: Dinner out at Wellington Grille in Beavercreek. Tom and Star
Brooks are hosting. Thirty people are required to have a private room. If
you want to attend, contact Tom.
 April 11: CANCELLED. Trip to AuburnCordDusenberg Auto Museum in
Auburn IN.
 May TBD: Dinner out hosted by Eric Mundy. More information to follow.
 May 2: Kentucky Derby Party (race starts at 6:30 p.m.) to be held at the
VFW in Huber Heights. More information to follow.
 May 9: Bud’s annual Corvette Car Show.
 May 20: Monthly meeting at Giovanni’s.
 June 6: Trip to Church Hill Downs hosted by Gary Stiens. If less than 24
sign up the cost is $37.00. If more than 24 sign up, the cost is $35.00.
Cost includes entrance to Church Hill Downs for races and a buffet.
 June 14: Giovanni’s Street Fair.
 June 17: Monthly meeting at Giovanni’s.
 June 25-27: Bloomington Gold, Indianapolis IN. Dean Tavener is leading
a caravan on June 27. If interested in attending, let Dean know.
 July 4: Centerville’s 41st Americana Parade. Freddie has not received any
information on this event.
 July 15: Monthly Meeting at Giovanni’s.
 July 19: Dayton Dragon’s game with GDCC Corvettes on display.
 August 1: Progressive dinner south of town. Appetizers will be at the
home of Jerry and Jill Schlatter and soup and salad at the home of Russ
and Gail Hodge. Host/hostess for the main course and dessert are
needed. A sign–up sheet will be circulated at the next few meetings for
persons to sign up for dishes to be provided for the various courses.
MEMBERSHIP:
 Carol reported that we have 99 members.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
 Tom Brooks stated that we have 168 likes on our Facebook page.
 He also asked members to provide pictures to post on Facebook.
EDITOR/ WEBMASTER
 Mike Jones had no report.
NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR
 Jerry Schlatter said there is a NCM raffle on April 25 for a 2015 Stingray
Convertible. Tickets are $100.00. One of Jerry’s friends in Arizona recently
won a white 2015 Z06.
 NCM is hosting their annual Museum Bash from April 23-25.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
 Freddie received an invitation from the assistant general manager at
Applebee’s on Wilmington Pike to participate in a car show in May on a
Monday or Tuesday evening. She will find a date that will be convenient for
the majority of members.
 Freddie also stated that 21 members of GDCC went on the western
Caribbean cruise. Everyone had a wonderful time. Four couples who had
never cruised are already discussing taking another.
Old Business
 Judy indicated that Walt Barner will be the DJ at Giovanni’s street fair in June.
 Carol is working on getting pictures for the Club pictorial to provide to new
members.
 Bob Haugh is working on the pricing of name tags for members and pricing of
colored copies of the pictorial.
New Business
 Bob and Anita Stephens have ordered a new 2015 Z06 (automatic) Torch
Red convertible.
 Butch Hanson said the Club is welcome to use the VFW in Huber Heights for
parties (i.e. the Kentucky Derby). Club members can have a carry in for food.
Drinks are available for purchase from the VFW. Let Mike know if the Club
plans to use the VFW for any event.
George Frymyer conducted the 50/50 drawing which was won by Jill Schlatter:
$41.00.
Mike Jones moved the meeting adjourn; seconded by Judy Smith. Meeting
adjourned.
Thanks to Pat Frymyer and Freddie for providing notes to the meeting (in my
absence) so the minutes could be prepared.
