Your host for the week will be Prince Angelo di Belmonte at his magnificent Residence Palazzo Belmonte. Our week will include three cultural trips, a yoga lessons on the terrace facing the sea with Capri rising in the distance, and four cooking lessons based on the famous Mediterranean Diet, with the use of local produce from the Licosa Estate. A visit to the magnificent Doric Temples of Paestum, the enchanting hill town of Padula with its wealth of historical buildings. The extraordinarily beautiful Amalfi Coast, including a visit to Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, combined with Pompeii. The Itinerary Day 1 Saturday - Arrival Fly by scheduled flight. Transfer to the Palazzo Belmonte (approximately two hours). Remainder of day at leisure. Welcome drink with Prince di Belmonte in his Private Library. Enjoy dinner this evening under the stars on the Belvedere’ Terrace. Day 2 Sunday - Leisure and Cooking Lesson Free morning. In the early afternoon a cooking lesson. Enjoy dinner this evening on the Belvedere Terrace with the food prepared by the guests. Day 3 Monday - Paestum - Mozzarella Farm & Leisure Morning guided excursion to the nearby ancient site of Paestum. Founded by the Greeks in 600 BC this well preserved and fascinating site was rediscovered in 1752. See the impressive Temple of Poseidon, the Basilica, Amphitheatre and Athenian. Later, spend some time in the museum, adjacent to the site . Visit to a well known Mozzarella Farm with a guided tour, tasting the famous mozzarella. Free afternoon. Enjoy dinner this evening on the Belvedere Terrace. Day 4 Tuesday - At leisure & Cooking Lesson Relax, acclimatize and explore the gardens, beach and the charming village of Santa Maria di Castellabate and the medieval hilltop village of Castellabate . You can walk for miles along the beach to nearby villages. In the afternoon a cooking lesson. Enjoy dinner this evening on the Belvedere Terrace with the food prepared by the guests. Day 5 Wednesday – Pompeii, Ravello & Amalfi Coast. Morning guided excursion to Pompeii. Because of Pompeii’s long and varied history of ownership, foreign influences - such as the practice of Egyptian religious rites and the use of Greek architecture are evident everywhere in the city. It held administrative control over the neighboring suburbs, and was a centre for trade of crops, wine, and olive oil. When Vesuvius erupted, much of Pompeii was still recovering from the great earthquake of A.D. 62. In the late morning visit to Ravello and Villa Rufolo and its beautiful gardens, whose beauty inspired the German composer Wagner for his ‘Parsifal’ and Villa Cimbrone with its spectacular view over the gulf, also called “terrace to the infinite” , it astonished for its beauty the British politician Winston Churchill, the American actress Greta Garbo and the English Writer Virginia Woolf. Lunch at Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, During the afternoon you reach Amalfi , with its charming history, climb the steep steps to the impressive Duomo of Sant’Andrea and explore the narrow alleyways and lanes which cling to the cliff side. Return to the Palazzo and enjoy dinner this evening on the ‘Belvedere Terrace’ Day 6 Thursday - Visit to Oil Mill and Fig Production and Cooking Lesson Morning guided visit to a famous Oil Mill in the Cilento area, tasting various types of oil . Enjoy a typical brunch of this area .In the early afternoon visit to Santomiele, a well known fig farm , in addiction to the figs, will be arranged a tasting of other products, such as “ Stuffolata Cilentana” a cake with e month of may 2002 muscat wine and honey, a series of handmade chocolates: Limonfichi, Sciuscià, Annurche apples and milk chocolate. It’s in th that the farm takes a step further with the organic cultivations of a figs ochard obtaining, in this way, a high-quality product. In the afternoon cooking lesson. Enjoy dinner this evening on the ‘Belvedere Terrace’ with the food prepared by the guests. Day 7 Friday - Padula & BBQ (cooking lesson) at Licosa Private Estate Join the morning excursion to Padula and the Cerates di San Lorenz, one of the largest and richest monasteries in southern Italy. The Cerates has been closed for over a century, but in its heyday it accommodated hundreds of Cartesians in a building laid out in the form of a gridiron. Lunch at a typical Italian restaurant. For this evening the cooking lesson will be a BBQ arranged at the Licosa Estate. Licosa is a jewel among the historic properties of the Belmonte Princes. Here, south of the small fishing harbour of San Marco and close to the point named for the siren Leucosia, lie the ancient ruins of a Roman fort, a seaside Castello and family chapel. The estate of Licosa extends over six kilometres, approached over land, from the gatehouse at Ogliastro. To the left flickers the sun on the sea through pine forests, while to the right are fields of vines, olives and carob trees which clothe the lower slopes of the hills. Day 8 Saturday - Departure. An early breakfast/brunch followed by the morning at leisure, before your transfer to Naples airport for the return scheduled flight .
