We would like to introduce the
new TCS brochure for 2011-2012.
The Camera Store is an
equipment rental business
specialising in camera mounting
and support equipment for the
television industry.
TCS was started in 1996 as a
privately run business set up by
three television cameramen. In
2008 the business was sold to
The Vitec Group Plc, who own
companies such as: Vinten,
Sachtler, Litepanels & Manfrotto,
to name a few. The Camera Store
shares its Twickenham office and
warehouse with Autoscript
(Prompters for TV, film and
conferencing), who are a
sister company also owned
by The Vitec Group.
We supply television equipment,
big and small, from heavy duty
television camera pedestals to
small items like script card holders
for camera operator’s shot cards.
From our base in Twickenham, we
transport equipment all around
the UK and other parts of Europe.
TCS employs experienced service
engineers to maintain our kit to
the highest standards ensuring
reliability in the field.
A new introduction to our range of
equipment is the Vinten Vector 430
pan & tilt head. (pictured below ) We
hope it becomes a customer favourite
as it is suited to many applications in
the field. We are also now stocking
Sachtler & OConnor equipment to
broaden our range. We hope you find
the information enclosed useful.

Incorporating most of the features of the

The Skquattro is a new tv camera mounting
introduced to give camera operators and
directors the opportunity to achieve different
shots and angles from a pedestal on track.
TCS was asked to come up with a way to get
a pedestal shot on track. The mounting needed
to achieve low and high angles as well as move
from side to side in a restricted area of a
theatre. Normally a ride on film dolly employing
a grip would have been used, but on this
occasion the cameraman wanted to elevate and
depress the column himself while keeping his
eyes in the viewfinder. A prototype was
produced which did everything the client
needed. From that the Skquattro has evolved
and is now being used on some of the biggest
productions in British television.

The Vinten Osprey Elite is extremely versatile,
designed to support portable and full facility
cameras for both studio and OB productions.
The studio version of the Osprey Elite
includes cable guards, whilst the larger wheels
of the OB version offer greater ground
clearance. Both versions have an exceptional
combination of lightness and structural
integrity giving maximum stability whilst still
allowing the column and dolly base to fold for
easy transportation. The Osprey Elite is also
ideal for use on track when combined with
Vinten’s Tracking Skid.

Vinten Vector 950
The Vector 950 offers an increased capacity of up to
120 kg and at this payload provides ±60° of perfectly
balanced tilt, allowing the safe control of today’s
long OB lenses.
The compact and durable Vector 950 head
incorporates a wealth of features. Set–up is aided
through the inclusion of a tilt deadlock, Quickfix groove
in the base, retractable carry handle and illuminated
controls, as well as an LCD display that offers a 24 hour
clock, stopwatch and counter–balance readout.

Vinten has developed the Vector 950 Active pan and
tilt head system to interface with the Canon Optical
Shift Image Stabiliser (‘Shift–IS’) technology.
The Vector 950 Active C4 system, which
communicates with Canon’s AF100X and
AF86Xlenses; comprising of the Vector 950OE head
with optical encoders (V3984–0001) and C4 Active
serial box (ASB–VIN–C4). The Vector 950 Active C2

enabled Perfect Balance to be incorporated into a
compact and lightweight package with a wide
capacity range of 10 to 43 kg.
Ideal for a middle weight camera set up with a

Vision 30/30 kit
The Vision 30 is capable of supporting up to 35 kg
/77.2 lbs and is suitable for a variety of ENG/EFP
camera combinations with EFP lens or teleprompter.
It is extremely robust, rigid and ideal for studio
/OB operations. The variable perfect camera
counterbalance system enables precision control of
tilt whilst the Vinten LF fluid drag system enables
smooth fluid movement when using larger lenses.

Delivery and collection available throughout the
UK (Rates on request). Our vans are fitted with
tail-lifts for the safe movement of pedestals.
The equipment is available for collection from
our base in South West London. Our office hours
are 08.00 – 18.00 Monday to Friday.
We suggest that clients who are collecting
pedestals arrange that a vehicle fitted with a
tail-lift is used, as we do not recommend lifting
heavy equipment onto vehicles.

Terms
terms
1. These are the terms on which The Camera Store hires
equipment. No variation to these terms is permitted, nor
shall terms and conditions used by the Hirer have any effect,
unless a director of The Camera Store agrees to that
variation, in writing. These terms apply to all hire
agreements.
2. All quotations shall, unless withdrawn, remain open for
acceptance by the Hirer for the period of three months
commencing from the date of the Quotation. Quotations
may be withdrawn by The Camera Store in writing to the
Hirer at any time before the receipt of an acceptance of the
quotation by the Hirer. Quotations do not include Value
Added Tax, which the Hirer must also pay at the prevailing
rate.
3. Hire charges are based on a ‘time out’ and not a ‘time
used’ basis with the minimum hire charge being £30. The
Hirer shall also pay for any additional equipment and/or
services not quoted for. Delivery and collection, if arranged
by The Camera Store, is extra.
4. The Hirer must take good care of equipment and return
it on the agreed date.
5. The Camera Store believes that all equipment it hires
will be undamaged and free from defects at the start of the
hire period. If the Hirer believes that equipment is damaged
or defective it must notify The Camera Store immediately. If
it fails to do so any damage or defects that are apparent on
return shall be deemed to have been caused by the Hirer.
6. If any equipment is damaged or defective when
returned to The Camera Store (and the Hirer did not notify
that damage as required by clause 4) the Hirer must pay for
the cost of repairs to that equipment (or if The Camera Store
believes the equipment is beyond repair, the cost of
replacement) plus an amount equivalent to the hire charge
for the period of the repair/ period pending replacement.
7. If the Hirer fails to return the equipment on the agreed
date a 100% surcharge for the overdue period will be paid by
the Hirer and if the equipment is not returned within 21 days
of the agreed date The Camera Store may treat the
equipment as lost in which case the Hirer must also pay the
cost to The Camera Store of replacing that equipment.
8. The Hirer must also indemnify The Camera Store
against all losses, costs, claims, expenses, damages,
demands and/or any liabilities which The Camera Store may
suffer by reason of the use of the equipment by the Hirer (or
any third party authorised by the Hirer) including, for

example any infringement of copyright, performing right or
other similar analogous right.
9. Hirers with an agreed credit account with The Camera
Store must settle all invoices within 30 days from the invoice
date. New credit authorisation requires at least 4 days.
Hirers without a current credit authorisation may be
required to pay in advance. If payments are not made when
due the Hirer must also pay interest thereon at a daily rate
equivalent to 8% p.a. and pay an administration charge
levied by The Camera Store to cover its costs of pursuing
payment.
10. The Camera Store’s entire liability for any total or partial
failure, or unsuitability, of the equipment shall (subject to
clause 11) be limited to refund / waiver of hire fees for the
period of the hire during which the equipment failed. Under
no circumstances is The Camera Store liable for any other
losses (including, without limitation, production time lost,
costs wasted or the like) incurred as a result. The Camera
Store is not liable for any consequential expense, liability,
loss, claim or proceeding whatsoever.
11. The Camera Store accepts liability for death or personal
injury to any persons resulting from its negligence;
12. If the Hirer cancels a hire (or returns equipment before
the due date) it shall be liable for cancellation fees as
follows:
i. Within 24 hours of call time – 50% of full charge
ii. On arrival – 100% of full charge (including
transportation)
13. Should any term in this contract be held to be invalid
such invalidation will not affect the validation of the
remaining terms.
14. The Camera Store retains the right to terminate the hire
and recover the equipment at the Hirer’s cost if these terms
are broken. The Company will not be held liable for any
resulting costs or losses.
15. All equipment hired remains the property of The
Camera Store at all times.
