Landmarks & Boundaries
11 Million Reasons
Creative Connections 2 Markmakers’ latest project, Landmarks & Boundaries
is inspired by the artists’ geographical location of
living near to the coastline of North West England and
Wales, and their individual experiences, knowledge of
tides, islands, pathways, landmark buildings, personal
histories and folklore. The responsive works will be
presented in a variety of media, including painting,
collage, sculpture, text and print.
11 Million Reasons was conceptualised by People
Dancing in 2014 to positively profile Deaf and disabled
people who dance. The project developed from our
core vision to ‘desegregate’ Deaf and disabled people
from anyone else that dances, and to help facilitate
a change in perceptions that can surround disabled
people dancing.
Creative Connections is a two year programme
enabling all primary schools in Halton to take part
in arts projects linked to the development of the
new Mersey crossing. In our second exhibition we
are sharing work by students who have worked with
artists and created new work with textiles, books,
film, guerrilla art and relief sculpture.
With funding from Unlimited Impact, People Dancing
commissioned emerging disabled photographer, Sean
Goldthorpe to create the 20 high quality images
inspired by iconic dance moments in film. In the
images, Deaf and disabled people are centre stage,
re-imagining iconic roles from well-known and loved
films from a diversity of genres.
This programme is supported by funding from Accent
Music Education Hub and their Arts & Cultural
Education Commission, and Merseylink.

images are diverse with many bringing a subtle but
relevant message.
