Moose Gains a Village

Sadly, his very thorough medical evaluation did not
result in good news, as sweet Moose has been
diagnosed with lymphoma. Treatment options are being
pursued, and he is not currently in any pain. It was
decided that he would become a permanent foster of
Grace’s rescue, Open Arms Family Rescue, where he
will get his “happily ever after,” for however long that
will be. He will be showered with love and spoiled
rotten by Grace and a wonderful network of caring

WAG as we celebrate
Millie, James and Melissa Connors
The FernDog Rescue Foundation holds a special
place in my family. Our grand-dogs, Milo and Etta,
Etta, James and Jessica Graves
were both FernDog rescues from Paterson. Milo is
Paris, Holland Jancaitis and Nicholas Clarey
my son's dog, but he spends a lot of time at his
Grandparent's house with our Black Lab, Stoli. The
Rhubarb and Tom Adams
two of them are best friends and we often find them
sleeping together in Stoli's crate or plotting ways to
get extra treats! Milo is a big mush and loves his backyard; he patrols it endlessly with his favorite Kong in his
mouth.
Etta is our little lady! She lives with our daughter and son-in-law along with Claire and Finn (brother and sister
Chihuahua mixes). Etta is mellow and loves hanging out on the couch and going for walks. She is still opening up and
everyday we see a little more of her sweet, goofy personality. She loves tennis balls and cuddles from her family.
We are so grateful for the FDRF, their fosters, their volunteers and all of their hard work! We cannot imagine our
lives without Milo and Etta and their happy wiggle butts.

Dog Rescue, Redefined
Since January 2013, the FernDog Rescue Foundation has been

rescuing dogs and adopting them to their forever homes. Our
mission is a simple one: We strive to place our dogs in truly

adopted
“forever” homes, with an emphasis on personality, lifestyle
and compatibility. We believe the best way to do this is
through our foster program, which enables our dogs to be placed in low-stress homes
while they wait for their permanent families. We feel that it is this type of environment
that a dog is best able to prosper and thrive. Further, it allows our team to get to know
our dogs better, and to provide required and adequate training for any behavioral issues
that may exist, as well as treatment for any health issues.
Most of our dogs come from very sad situations: many were abandoned, owner
surrendered, or found wandering in the streets of our inner cities. We also rescue dogs
from high-kill shelters in the deep South. Every dog is unique, and every situation they
come from has helped to shape that particular dog’s personality. We have all heard it too
often. “I adopted a shelter dog and he is a nightmare.” “I adopted a shelter dog and she
is too jumpy for my small children.” These dogs become homeless once again, and at no
fault of their own. These types of situations can be avoided with a successful foster
program; a better foster program.
