To us, design means hard work, exciting discussions,
sketches, prototypes, materials testing, practical details and
smart functions. It can mean finding out how many times a
surface needs coating to become resistant to water, moisture
and different temperatures. Or the importance of choosing
the best LED lighting. But of course it’s mainly about design,
feel and style.
N O R D I C I N F LU E N C E S I N D A L S T O R P
We create and develop all our products in-house in Dalstorp.
What is more we design protect them, which guarantees
their singularity. Our greatest inspiration comes from
everyday life and our dialogue with customers. This helps
us to discover new needs early and integrate them into our
solutions. We often develop products in close collaboration
with well-known Nordic designers. Meet a few of them:
MORTEN VOSS AND STINNE KNUDSEN – DK
Morten Voss and
Stinne Knudsen are
the joint creators
of DK.

Morten Voss is a self-taught designer who opened his own
studio in Copenhagen in 1994. He is especially noted for
his FlightDeck table, a furniture classic. Stinne Knudsen graduated from the Danish Design School in 2001 and has since
worked with product design and interior design. He designs
the big shapes and she creates the detail and colours. One of
the results is the new DK collection in this year’s Bathroom
Book (see page 42).

Form Us With Love is a design studio based in Stockholm. Since it started in
2005, it has been challenging conventions through design. In 2012 it was selected
by Fast Company as one of the world’s 50 most influential designers for the future. And in 2013 they received the Designer of the Year award from Elle Decoration
Sweden. 2015 was another milestone year when they designed the Forsa shower
collection for Svedbergs (see page 120).
ROGER PERSSON – FRONT
He moved to Gothenburg in 1995 to
study at the HDK School of Design
and Crafts. Today he is a qualified
industrial designer and cabinet maker
who specialises in furniture but also
works with other products. He runs the
Roger Persson Design studio. Among
other things, he designed the wellknown Front furniture collection for
Svedbergs. (see page 62).

EHLÉN JOHANSSON AND MIA LAGERMAN – STIL
They have won various design awards since they first met as co-workers at IKEA. Ehlén is a graduate of the HDK School of
Design and Crafts in Gothenburg. Mia studied at the University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and the Royal
Danish Academy of Fine Arts. They have kept their unique characters and styles but enjoy collaborating across the boundaries.
One of the results can be seen in the furniture collection Stil which they designed for Svedbergs (see page 52).

MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.
Many of the visitors at our factory in Dalstorp are surprised
that we still manufacture and assemble all our bathroom
furniture there – and that so much is still done by hand. It’s
the same with our electrics. We make sure everything is installed correctly from the start, with all the safety classifications and labellings you could wish for.
W E D O I T F R O M S TA R T TO F I N I S H
Because we make everything ourselves at our own plant, we
can guarantee that each product is of the highest quality.
When we say our wooden furniture gets a base coat, it means
we give it three base coats and a top coat. We dry each coat
with UV light before applying the next coat. And we use paints
and coatings that absorb into the material, sealing it against
moisture. We take the same care over our cabinets and other
sheet metal components. They are powder coated to make
them resistant to rust, impact and scratching.
C A R E F U L LY C H O S E N M AT E R I A L S
We have various requirements for our materials. Above all,
they must last over a long lifespan and they must look good.
Of course design is important, but so are surfaces
and structures.
EXTREME TESTING
All our unpainted front panels have real wood veneers. The
thin wood surface is cut from selected logs to achieve a genuine wood feel. All our frames are made of moisture-resistant
chipboard. We know they’re tough because we’ve tested them
for three days in 20 °C water, one day in 12 °C cold and three
days in 70 °C heat. And last but not least, all our bathroom
cabinets have fully extendable drawers with real ball bearing
runners. We know you’ll appreciate the difference.

GETTING THE LIGHTING RIGHT FROM THE
When we develop and design our products, we think big –
and small. They should fit in everywhere, whether you live
in a castle or a hut. We have even taken into account older
buildings with uneven walls and sloping floors. Our products
can easily be adapted to all conditions.

we have already chosen high quality for you and installed
safe, energy-saving, atmospheric lighting in all our mirrors

All our bathroom furniture is built to last for a long lifespan in challenging
wet room environments. That’s why we use moisture-resistant chipboard
panels, give our wooden furniture three coats of varnish and pretreat all
our sheet metal.

REAL WOOD VENEER

Our wood veneers are cut from selected logs with natural colour and
pattern variations. Don’t confuse them with artificial surfaces such as
film or melamine.
Our wooden furniture is given three base coats and one top coat. And we
dry each coat with UV light before applying the next coat. All our paints and
coatings absorb into the material, sealing it against moisture.

THE RIGHT LIGHTING
All our drawers are fully extendable, soft-closing and easily adjustable
The drawer inserts are divided into compartments (both upper and
lower) and are shaped to fit perfectly inside the drawer.
Our mirrors and bathroom cabinets come with various types of lighting. What
they all share in common is that they are energy-saving and provide comfortable atmospheric lighting. All our lights are factory-installed, whether they
are light strips or LED lights.

Our product development is a continuous process. The result is a complete

All our product development takes place in-house. That doesn’t stop us from
collaborating with renowned Nordic designers. We often give them a free rein,
but the result must always reflect the Svedbergs philosophy in terms of form

THE SVEDBERGS SPIRIT
Because we make our products in our own factory, we have full control of our
environmental impact. We use mandatory marks such as REACH, RoHS and
WEEE. Moreover, we are a member of organisations including BASTA, REPA,
El-Kretsen and Safe Water Installation.
Maybe it’s our tradition, maybe it’s our capacity for continuous development.
Most likely it’s a combination of the two. Scandinavians have been choosing
Svedbergs for over half a century. We don’t just make bathrooms; we create
reasons for having a good day.

We love bathrooms. The challenge of combining modern design with practical function in a small space that is subjected
to water, moisture and temperature fluctuations every day.
But that’s not how it all started.
H O LG E R ’ S I D E A
When young Holger Svedberg founded the company in 1920,
he started out manufacturing milk churns. Although they
were the best milk churns on the market, they didn’t have
much in common with the bathroom furniture we make
today. Except for one small detail: top quality sheet metal
produced in the company’s own tin factory.
T H E C A B I N E T T H AT B E C A M E A T R E N D S E T T E R
The years went by and Holger’s sons grew up It was the period after the Second World War when belief in the future was
strong. The brothers saw potential all around them, and had
a new vision for the tin factory They enthusiastically began
trying their hand at making other sheet metal products. The
result was a revolutionary bathroom cabinet made of sheet
metal with built-in lighting. This innovation would become a
trendsetter for all modern bathrooms.
T H E B R OT H E R S C O N T I N U E D I N N O VAT I N G
The breakthrough year was 1962. As a result of the new
bathroom cabinet, bathrooms started being taken seriously. What was once regarded as an anonymous, private and
purely functional room was transformed into a space for
furnishings, design and relaxation. The brothers continued
innovating. Soon they built a large carpentry workshop and
launched their first bathroom furniture.
Several of our bathroom cabinets are inspired by the one that revolutionised
bathrooms in 1962. See page 96.
OUR SENSE OF CRAFTSMANSHIP CONTINUES
Almost a hundred years after it was founded, the tin factory
lives on. And so does our sense of craftsmanship. Expertise
passed down through the generations and adapted to
modern production methods. Much of our work is still done
by hand, always with care and precision. That’s how things
have always been done in Dalstorp whether it was milk
churns or bathroom furniture.

insert that is easy to lift out. The inserts are made of hardwearing plastic that is easy to clean. The drawers also have practical

PRACTICAL LAUNDRY BASKET
Electrical sockets inside a bathroom cabinet or drawer
are a smart choice that you will find very useful.
Add a practical laundry basket that fits inside our side cabinets.
The baskets come in two sizes. They are easy to remove from
the cabinet and bring to the washing machine.

The advantage of LED lighting is its long lifespan: it
lasts roughly 50 times longer than a light bulb and 3–4
times longer than strip lighting. LED lighting is also
environmentally friendly because it has low energy
consumption and contains no mercury. LED lights can
take frequent on/off cycles and light up without delay.
The lights in our upper units are available with various IP
ratings. IP44 is the safest rating. It is ideal for shower and
bath areas and very small bathrooms. All the electrical
functions in our products are CE and S marked.

Materials Upper cabinets are available in wood or
metal. The wooden frames are made of moisture-resistant, coated MDF. The metal cabinets are made of
powder-coated, hot-galvanised, moisture-resistant
sheet metal. Whatever design you choose, your cabinet will keep its finish for many years to come.
Electrical system Optional power outlets are
available, e.g. for shavers and hairdryers. They are
available in left- and right-installed versions (with or
without an earth fault breaker).
INTEGRATED LIGHTING The mirror cabinets on this
page come with integrated halogen lighting. A light
strip at the top provides both general lighting and
precision lighting. Lights at the bottom of the cabinet
illuminate the basin and enhance the design of the
basin and mixer.
LIGHTING All our upper units are available with lighting. Please refer to our buyer’s guide regarding light options for each cabinet. The lighting is available in two IP
classifications: IP21 and IP44. IP44-classified equipment is approved for Zone 1, the shower and bath zone, and is ideal for very small bathrooms where the basin
and bath/shower are close together. Lighting with an integrated power outlet are available in both left- and right-installed versions to suit different bathrooms
(available with or without an earth fault breaker).
SAFETY AND ELECTRICITY All electric products from Svedbergs carry both the CE and S mark. CE mark is obligatory and means that the manufacturer
themselves guarantee that the product fulfill all safety regulations within EU. S mark is voluntary and is a seal of approval from an independent body. Never

Fitting a corner shower on a bath is a smart way to prevent splashing. The doors can be folded away when
the shower is not in use. The toughened safety glass has a thickness of 6 mm. Although the profiles are
slim, they still allow pipe installation. They are available in four different colours: white matt, black matt,
matt aluminium and polished aluminium.

SLIM, ELEGANT PROFILES
The handles have the same style and colour as the profiles. The gradient glass is available in various colours.
It creates a feeling of openness while screening the user from view. Its special design prevents water from
splashing outside the shower. Choose between different sizes and one or two doors. The profiles can be
adjusted to fit various widths, or you can buy supplementary 20 mm or 40 mm wall profiles.

providing additional heat and drying up moisture. Our heated

DUAL FUEL.
Choose a heated towel rail and add an electric valve in a colour
of your choice. We offer two options. The first option is an
electric valve that can be adjusted between 30–60 °C and has
a built-in switch. (You can install your own switch on the wall if
you want, but this is not necessary.) The second option is a KTX
electric valve that is adjustable between 30–60 °C and includes
a timer, temperature adjustment and an anti-freeze function
(approx. 5–7 °C). Both electric valves can be installed in either
of the heated towel rail’s bottom corners.
Because central heating is normally turned off in the
summer, we recommend this option if you want to use
central heating. Choose a heated towel rail. Add one of
our electric valves in the colour of your choice and a central heating valve. Connect the electric valve to one of the
bottom corners of the heated towel rail and connect the
valve in the other bottom corner.
