Feel free to copy or pass around the information contained in this ebook. As a matter of politeness, please give credit to Brenda High
and The Bully Police E-Book as your resource.
NOTE: This e-book is ongoing (never-ending) and I have chosen
NOT to number the submissions to this page to make it easier to add
to this e-book without constantly making changing to the numbering.
To print a speakers’ page, look to the bottom left bar of your PDF file
to see what page you are on, thus, where to start and where to finish
printing your pages.
If you are a speaker, specializing in an anti bullying speaking format,
and would like to be included, email Brenda at
[email protected]. As a rule, the content will be edited to fit a
one-page synopsis. Updates will be made periodically.
Note: Many of these speakers have written their own biographies at my
request. The listings of Recommended Speakers in this e-book does not
constitute an endorsement, however, I know most of these individuals
personally as most are volunteers for Bully Police USA. I do however,
endorse having speakers tell their stories to help students, parents, teachers
and administrators understand the importance of creating a civil and safe
environment inside our schools. ~Brenda

As a middle school teacher for over 16 years,
Ronna's understanding of the 6th 7th and 8th
grade mind is unparalleled.
Ronna has taught Family and Consumer Science classes in which she

At the 6th grade level, students grasp a basic level of safety on the
Internet, including caution using a user name, how easily someone
can find out where a child lives, and real-life situations.
At the 7th grade level, anti-bullying techniques are introduced as
bullying increases at this age. 'Megan Meier' and 'Jared High’s story'
are discussed at length. Through discussion, video and song,
students walk away with a new perspective on bullies and bullying.
For 8th graders the emphasis is directed toward leaving a positive

John Halligan
New York, USA, Canada, Latin America
Presentation: “Ryan’s Story”
John Halligan was from Vermont. He and his family now live in
Farmingdale, NY. He lost his thirteen year old son, Ryan, to suicide
on October 7, 2003.
In memory of his son, he spearheaded the Vermont Bully Prevention
Bill H.629 during the 2004 Legislative Session which was signed into
law as ACT117 on May 18, 2004. He also successfully led the effort
for the passage of bill H.630 during the 2006 Vermont legislative
session – ACT 114 relating to suicide prevention in public schools.
John has been outspoken about the need for more education and
prevention of bullying, cyber bullying and teen suicide throughout
Vermont. His ninety minute presentation begins with a short video
collection of home movie clips and still pictures of Ryan as a way of
introducing his son to the audience. John then begins to tell the story
of Ryan and the factors that led up to his son’s suicide. The audience
will gain a perspective from inside a family of a child who is a victim
of bullying and cyber bullying.
They will also gain awareness about
the signs and risk of teenage suicide.

turning victims into victors. Together, we are working to eliminate

Jenny Mischel has a Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, Language

believes we should start teaching children the importance of
empowerment and positive self-esteem at a very young age. Her

producing incredible results. When children feel good about
themselves, the need to bully others is drastically diminished. She is

Sean Mulroney
Missouri & USA
Sean Mulroney has overcome unbelievable odds
to become the man that he is today. Because his
mother was a single mother working 14 hours a
day to support 5 children, Sean was left in the care of his siblings and
allowed to run the streets of the city at a young age. He tried alcohol
for the first time at the age of six and by the time he was twelve, Sean
was drinking regularly, smoking, and experimenting with drugs.
Although Sean's mother remarried and moved out of the city, Sean
still sought friends that were in to drugs and alcohol; he even got into
fights and was stabbed multiple times. His life was so messed up.
When Sean was twenty-one years old, a friend of the family frankly
told him that the life he was living was going to destroy him. His
friend showed him some tough love, but it was exactly what Sean
needed. Even though he graduated at the bottom of his class, Sean
decided he needed to go to college. He graduated in 1994 and has
since dedicated his life to helping teens succeed by speaking to
schools and youth groups.

Jillian Palmieri
New Jersey & USA
Bystander: A Portrait in Apathy, is a unique
bully prevention assembly program founded
and developed by former middle school
teacher Jillian Palmieri. The program brings
to light the influence the bystanders have in preventing bullying.
Using a group of students from within the school, Jillian creates a
performance that is both powerful and emotionally charged. The
students she works with become leaders in their school as they
present an empowering message imploring the bystanders to be
Silent No Longer and to Speak Up when they see bullying take place.
Especially moving is the segment of the program devoted to
exposing the negative consequences for allowing bullying to continue
in a tribute to victims of bullycide.
Every middle school should empower their
students to stake a claim in bully prevention
by allowing them the opportunity to be a part of Bystander: A
Portrait in Apathy. Students will forever be changed by what they
hear and see from their classmates in this program.

Russell A. Sabella, Ph.D.
Florida & USA
From podcasts to porn, cyberbullying to cell
phones, Dr. Russell Sabella helps his audience
understand the risks that emerge when hightech tools, uninformed parents, and exuberant youth collide. Because
kids are growing up with modern technologies, many are more
expert than their parents. As a result, a parent's ability to make
effective decisions for how technology is used may be compromised.
And now, Dr. Sabella’s new book, “GuardingKids.com”
(www.GuardingKids.com) empowers parents,
educators, and other care takers to better
understand the electronic terrain. Readers
will be better able to help children safely and
securely navigate a minefield of inappropriate
and risky situations.

Donald Schwagler MS. Ed.
(aka Donny Silver)
New York & Surrounding Areas
Don is an inner city middle school Science teacher. He has created an
energetic, interactive and musical production that is designed to get
kids of all ages to treat others better, to stop bullying, to realize the
importance of education and to build character.
The GRACE (Get Real And Change
Everything) project was started by
Don and his close friend Aron Cole.
Don realized that he has a real gift for connecting with kids and
getting them to open up and to reflect on who they really are.
Combining the musical talents and personal experiences of Don and
Aron they have in turn created something powerful, entertaining and
special. Motivation for the GRACE project comes from the death of
Don’s daughter Grace who never had a chance at life and Don’s wife
who was a victim of bullies throughout her time in school.
It is Don’s and Aron’s dream to make this production their whole
career. See www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6CiCxKHlRw and then

Holly L. Wilson
Utah & Surrounding Areas
As a public school employee Holly has
witnessed acts of violence toward both students
and teachers. While protecting students from
bullies she endured being spit on, bit, and
scratched on numerous occasions, at times requiring medical
attention. In an effort to stand up for these children she found herself
fighting a losing battle with school administrators and was
subsequently terminated. As a result she has become a vocal
advocate for the rights of parents and students to an education in a
safe environment.
Holly believes that a “Safe School Policy” that is not enforced is only
words on paper. Staff who refuses to implement policies need to be
held legally accountable for enabling bullies to cause irreversible
damage to our children both mentally and physically.
She encourages parents and students to contact her so they can work
together in finding a solution. Presentations on bullying and keeping
schools safe are also available for school administration and staff
training. E-mail Holly at [email protected].
