NATIONAL LEADER
BAPTIST OF NEW ZEALAND
Craig Vernall
(3 year appointment)
Craig is the current National Leader of the Baptist Union of
New Zealand, having served the first three of his four year term.
Over this time Craig has served the Baptist Union well as National
Leader. Assembly Council and Mission Council would like to recommend to Baptist
Assembly 2014 that Craig continues for another term when he completes this term at
Assembly 2015.
During Craig’s first term he has spent a significant amount of time visiting the regions
in New Zealand. He has overseen a restructure of the Union to decentralization,
introducing the Regional Mission Leaders and bringing the spending of the Union into
a sustainable situation. He has represented the Union well at national level, meeting
Heads of Churches and politicians and has gained the respect of the two groups.
He has kept communication lines clear and open with all departments of the Baptist
Union and its representative churches. He has shown a desire to see our churches
grow and develop and he places a huge importance on keeping mission as a high
priority. When issues have had to be faced he has been willing to get involved and
has led well in these situations.
Assembly Council and Mission Council desire to see Craig develop further that which
he has started.
