OUR CLASSES
Senior Class.
Much to the joy of all the Seniors, Carlyle's
Essay on Burns has been finished. A book of
famous speeches of President Wilson and other
noted men, based on Democracy, made since
the war has begun, is to be taken up by the
Juniors and Seniors. This will be very beneficial to all and should be of great interest as
well.
Since we have started our experiments on
sound in Physics We have found much to our
surprise that some, 'whom we never expected,
have marvelous voices. We advise some to investigate the matter. Perhaps your future is
settled—who knows?
The class appreciates 'the fact that the boys
are upholding the reputation of the class by
their excellent showing in basket ball. The
girls also are doing some excellent work along
this line. They are setting a pace that the
other classes find hard to follow.
The 'Senior girls met and defeated the Junior
girls in a game of basket ball Friday evening,
January 18. Seniors, 6; Juniors, 2.
Mr. Brothers thinks the Seniors are childish
in their choice of colors. For instance : Wearing different colored socks or gaudy shirts.
Some one is always taking the joy out of life.
We wonder if 'bandana handkerchiefs would
suit him?
Don't think from the length of this report
that the ,Senior class is dead. The fact is that we
have been so busy studying and upholding the
dignity of the position we hold as Seniors that
we have not had the time for frivolities. However next month we will try and make the
school more lively.
Junior Class.
We the Junior class wish that the 'Sophomores who insist we are "yellow" would think
of these things:
One of our classmates has done more for his
country thdb, any one boy his age in Livingston county, as told by our sponsor, Mr. Marvel.
We are the only class now in high school
which 'has an ex-pupil in the army.
There were ten Juniors who attended the
basket ball game at Pontiac, January 25.
We are very well represented in all school
activities.
Helen B. (In English III) : A pilgrimage is
a group of people going to a shrine.
We 'have been so busy studying for exams.
and practicing - for our play that we haven't
had time to even do anything out of the ordinary.
Freshman Class.
The Freshman class has finished the classic
"The Lady of the Lake," and is going to take
up the "Last of the Mohicans."
All the 'consolation Miss Norton can give in
Latin I is that you may get a passing grade
the second semester.
Marion ,Snyder, who has been very ill at the
'hospital in Streator with appendicitis, is expected home soon. We all hope he will soon
he back in school.
The Science I class will take up Physical
Geography this semester with Miss Chadwick
as teacher.
Clarence West (In Science) : "I didn't see
that in my book." Miss Chadwick: "You had
better get some glasses for your eye teeth."
Sophomore Class.
,Mr. Marvel is especially skilled in giving
examples to make proofs clearer to his Geometry class. Recently, when one of - the Geometry
pupils was unable to give a proof for a proposition, because the position of the figure was
changed, Mr. Marvel being surprised suddenly
exclaimed, "Well! if that is the case I don't
suppose you would know me if I. Went to the
barber and had my hair dyed." We doubt that.
The Ancient History class will start the
