We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, PayPal, money orders, and personal checks for all items listed in our catalog. Orders must be over $20. We generally use the U.S. Post Office to
ship parts and have found it to be reliable and inexpensive, and we used their tracking system for each package. Prices in this catalog are subject to change without notice. Please check
availability of all parts and tandems before ordering. All returns must be authorized to receive credit. Please notify us for a return authorization number. Credit will not be issued without
a return authorization.
ALL PARTS ORDERS, ADD FREIGHT CHARGES
We require a 50% deposit on all tandems that are not in stock and must be ordered. Allow 6-8 weeks for most tandems not in stock. All tandems must be paid in full before we ship to
you. We ship all tandems by motor carrier. You, the purchaser, are responsible for freight charges from Tandems East to the final destination. You have the option to prepay freight costs
prior to delivery. This will help minimize the charges. IT IS MORE SIMPLIFIED FOR TRUCKING COMPANIES TO DELIVER TO A BUSINESS ADDRESS RATHER THAN YOUR
RESIDENCE, HOWEVER WE CAN DO IT EITHER WAY. WE GUARANTEE A $225 MAXIMUM COST TO SHIP ANYWHERE IN THE LOWER 48 STATES. All tandems are

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE TO BUY?
WE SPECIALIZE IN THE "HARD TO FIT" TANDEM TEAM
A quick and simple method of measuring the captain and stoker is to stand with your back against the wall with your shoes on; separate your legs about 6 inches;
take a book and place it between your legs tight up to your crotch. Measure from the top of the book to the floor. You now have your stand-over height. Do the same
with your partner. Selection of a tandem is similar to a single bike. Your stand-over should exceed the top tube at your position on the tandem by no more or less
than 1 1/2 inches. Most bikes have an eleven inch bottom bracket height. Subtract 11 inches from your standover and you have the proper size for your team.
Two other helpful measures we like to know are your shoe sizes, plus the distance from the back of your elbow to the front of your fingertip. Bend your arm into the
shape of the letter L; let your partner measure from the very back of the elbow to the front of your longest finger. This helps establish stem lengths.
Any photographs in our catalog or on our website with riders not wearing a helmet are for modeling purposes only.
We suggest you do not ride your bike without a helmet, please.

he Family Tandem is made to be adjustable. The frame and fork are full Chromoly. This
tandem is adjustable for people 5' to 6'5" in the front position (captain). Stoker is adjustable to fit
children 36" to 54" tall with the child set-up and up to 6'2" with adult set-up.
Riders in the stoker position under 4'6" should have the Small Child set-up. The Family Tandem is
delivered with either an adult stoker set-up or a small child stoker set-up, or both.
These tandems are made in the USA! Green Gear is continuously building and improving The Family
Tandem. The Family Tandem can be shipped Fed-Ex quickly from Tandems East to you! (minor
assembly required)

Many people are starting to enjoy the comfort of recumbent
tandems. Rans has produced recumbent bicycles for a
number of years. For the past five years they have seen a
keen interest in their tandem model, The Screamer. This sleek
chromoly bicycle is light and responsive with the steering
above the top tube. Utilizing a 20" wheel in the front and 26" in

Weaver from Washington State has
undergone some excellent design
improvements. Larger diameter tubing
and fillet brazed rear triangle, 1 1/8 front
fork steerer, 9 speed gearing with
independent 9 speed shifting up front, a
derailleur hanger up front, 145 dropouts
in the rear with ultimate stoker, comfort
and individual cadence.
This unique tandem can be adapted for
handicapped cyclists who have great
desire to ride a bike either with hand or
foot cranks.
The front position is quite comfortable
and allows both riders a great view . . .
thus the name Viewpoint.

How to know if your child needs Crank Shortners or a Ride2 Child Kiddie Crank conversion?
1) Rule of thumb - if the child is 7 years old they can generally use crank shortners, with the stoker seat all the way down. An easy
method for testing this - lower the seat in the stoker position to the lowest point, then have your child sit on the saddle with the crank in
the down position. If their foot intersects with at least 1/2 of the crank arm in the down position they can use crank shortners. They can
enjoy Ride2 or Tandems East crank shortners until age 11 or 12.
2) Ride2 Child Kiddie Crank conversion is generally used from age 3½ to age 7. When ordering it is important to know what type of
crank you presently have on your tandem, the bolt pattern of the chainring (110mm or 130mm are most common). Also you need to
know your seat tube size. Ride2 kiddie crank conversion can do 3 sizes; 1⅛", 1¼" and 1⅜", all hardware is provided and it takes
standard metric Allen wrenches to install. Installation is usually a 45 minute job. If the child is just 3½ they will need a longer stoker
boom, which generally run about $90. An inexpensive way to avoid the longer stoker extension purchase is to flip over the handlebars.
Ride2 Kiddie Cranks comes standard with 2 crank lengths, standard 110mm (for the very young rider) or 135mm for older children.

da Vinci Designs’ Independent Coasting System (ICS) offers you a riding experience both on and off road that equals or surpasses the best you’ve had on a single or
tandem bike. The ICS makes for a far more intuitive, comfortable and
efficient ride. This newfound ability to independently or collectively
coast, pedal and position your cranks at will offers these advantages:
• Starting, stopping and going through corners are as easy as on a
single bike.
• Captain and stoker can independently relax, take a drink, adjust
seat position, stand for a few seconds to relieve weary sit bones,
even take a moment to gaze at scenery, while the other keeps
pedaling.
• Traversing obstacles is easier and more efficient because the
captain and stoker can coordinate avoiding the obstacles while
maintaining forward momentum.
• Asynchronous pedaling decreases strain on the final drive train.
The main component of da Vinci Designs’ ICS is an intermediate
drive shaft six inches in front of the rear bottom bracket. The intermediate shaft has two single-speed freewheels on the left side that are independently driven by the
cranks at twice the rotating speed and half the torque. On the right side of the shaft, four Hyperglide™ cogs drive the bike. The chain rings are half the size as those
on a conventional tandem because of the double rotation of the intermediate shaft. The combination of 12-, 18-, 24-, 30-tooth driving gears equals 24-, 36-, 48-, 60-tooth
chain rings. The combination of the small 6-tooth gap, doubled rotation and the Hyperglide cogs
gives da Vinci Designs’ tandems these technical advantages:
• Smooth and fast front shifting – The closer the
chain rings are to the same size, the easier it is to
shift. Other tandems, and even single bikes, are
forced to use a 12-tooth gap between chain rings.
• Unprecedented range of gears – Four chain rings
and eight rear sprockets mean 36 gears that range
from 18 to 140 gear-inches. No other tandem gives
you that many gears or that kind of range.
• More ground clearance – Nice when you lift your
tandem over a curb, out of a truck, or when you are
off road.
• Stronger, lighter chain rings that are less prone
to bending
• Less strain on the chain while shifting
• This Tandem is surprisingly agile and light, surprising many who test ride them for the first time.

This is not just a cool bike. It is appropriate for everyday use and for racing. The vibration damping
is a performance advantage on longer rides. Each frame is built to order and every frame is a
unique. Tubes are selected for the weight of the rider. The geometry of the frame can be any of their
usual geometries: Pro, Tri or Cross. Custom frames also. Mountain Bike frames are also now

Details. The bike is made from Bamboo that has been smoked and heat treated to prevent splitting.
Lugs are made of hemp fiber, for the all-natural look. The chainstays are available in carbon fiber for
extra stiffness in the drivetrain.
Finish. The bamboo is coated with a satin polyurethane to seal it up.

It's November just before Thanksgiving and today feels like winter has
knocked on the door. Brightly colored orange and red leaves fill the Tandems
East yard where beautiful flowers stood a brief time ago.
Curled up into a ball on her bed next to the piano, Bella, our two-year old
Cavalier King Charles dog must be aware of the sudden weather change.
She has no interest in romping in the yard with DJ Boots the cat. Clearly winter is quickly approaching and our tandem riding will take a drastic change
from road riding to the trainer in the office.
2014 was an exciting year filled with old and new friends and many new
Tandems East customers both here in the USA and abroad. We may have
cycled with you in California, Arizona, in the Midwest or at one of the many
events we attended along the east coast. Most likely we shared my homemade cookies or sweet breads. I never leave home without a tin filled with
sweet treats. Everyone enjoys a little bite while Mel tweaks your bike!
After saying we aren't going back, Mel and I listened to your pleas. We are
returning to New Zealand for our seventh tour. Adventure South and Tandems East have partnered once again in organizing another South Island
New Zealand tour leaving LAX December 30, 2015 for sixteen days of fun
and travel. If this has been on your bucket list please contact us A.S.A.P. as
the list of interested cyclists is growing and space is limited.
Our four grand children are beautiful, strong and healthy thank goodness.
They all are growing into wonderful little people with special personalities
and strengths. They continue to be the bonus that enrich our lives. Oh, their
parents are great too!
Our biggest news this year is I have started a women specific cycling
clothing company. Evelyn Hill Cycling, named for our nine year old granddaughter, will officially launch in a few weeks.After years of seeking the
perfect fit in cycling shorts and jerseys, Mel and our son Jed convinced me
that this door of opportunity has been opening for years with my successful
following of Sheila Moon clothing.
Sheila is not producing new clothing at this time and my stock thankfully
has been dwindling for quite some time. Jed and his business partner David,
own Sommerville Sports, a manufacturing company specializing in custom
cycling kits.
Please look for Evelyn Hill Cycling on our website and at events. After long
months of perfecting upbeat and modern styling with performance in mind,
we are optimistic that you too will love Evelyn Hill Cycling clothing for real
women. The fit is great. The patterns are perfect for women of all ages and
sizes and all have been test ridden by me!
Sommerville Sports, Tandems East and Evelyn Hill Cycling are a perfect fit
for your women specific cycling gear.
This past year, like many before have been consumed making wonderful
memories with our children and grand children and with you, our wonderful
customers and friends who remind us daily that riding a tandem bike is not
only a healthy choice but can be life changing.
