However I think what she really loved were the friendships and the comradeship. We both loved to camp over and catch up with our eventing friends. Often Nicole Cahill and Taylor would just sit and laugh at Kath and I as we drank way too many red wines. I remember vividly a conversation Taylor and I had at Kergunyah last year, we had been walking the cross country together when we came across a grade 1 combination she wasn’t sure how to tackle. We ran into Mietta Innes-Irons whom has more experience at these higher levels. Taylor proceeded to ask Mietta’s advice which Mietta was only too happy to give. As we continued we ran into Abby Pedretti and she asked Taylor some advice about a grade 2 jump. Taylor was only too happy to offer her opinion. We continued on back to the float and Taylor turned to me and said “what I love about this sport is how everyone helps each other What other sport do you discuss tactics with the person you’re competing against, for me it only becomes a competition when the scores go up.” That’s one of the things I most cherished about my girl, she was competitive but also loved to see her friends do well but most of all she was humble. I will truly miss these special trips together. I will forever love Taylor and will forever miss her but I’m sure she is sitting in the clouds on her old horse Bucky watching all of you guys continue with your passion of horses or maybe she is just too busy riding Victory Salute and Northern Hector. I would like to thank all of Taylor’s friends and peers who played such an important role in her life. Love Belinda. PAGE 2 State Champs Report 2012 ... Well what a fantastic weekend we had at the Albury Equestrian Centre. 2012 was North Eastern Zone’s time to host and showcase this great championship event which has been a part of PCAV history since 1978 for showjumping and 1979 for dressage. The last time we hosted this event was 10 years ago in 2002 held just down the road in Wodonga at the Wodonga Showgrounds. With a championships sub-committee chosen we moved into 12 months of planning and hard work. There was a change of committee as I became the new Zone Representative six months into planning placing a little pressure onto my shoulders. What a year to be inducted into this role half way into the planning of the state championships, thanks very much for that! However I couldn’t have had a better team working for me in the planning for these championships. Every one worked well together with-out fuss and solved any issues immediately as they came to hand, it was fantastic to work with such a team and made my life very easy. As the weekend approached I was keeping a keen eye on the weather forecast as there was a lot of rain predicted for the Albury area at the time of the championships. Come Thursday I was very confident that we would finish the Championships on the Sunday well before the rain starts, with 80mm-100mm of rain predicted I hoped I was right. “however, I couldn't have had a better team to work with”.. Arriving on the grounds on the Saturday there were already plenty of competitors on site happily camping around the grounds, or so I thought. I drove to the office and within five minutes of arrival I had my first complainant thanks to the cold showers that people had to take due to the lack of gas in the hot water system. However with a smile we soon had this problem and a few other small issues solved due to the great team working with me. Set up for the event was prompt and efficient, with the show-jumping right on time for the Saturday event. I believe that this is the first time a Zone has run a competition on the Saturday, and we hope that by doing this we can get people home a little earlier on the Sunday. With the Temperature pushing 39 degrees it was a very hot and muggy afternoon for our riders and the Volunteers helping us out for the day. The competition was a success on the Saturday and at the completion of the day we all sat down around the office for a very yummy meal. Thanks to ‘Carving It Up’ who supplied the meal with a mixture of meat and great salads, then the best cheese cake I have eaten in a long time for dessert. And while we all dined we had some fantastic entertainment played to us by Robert Sherwill, who also produced our awesome championships shirts and caps. The man can sing and play a guitar as well as use a sewing machine, very impressive Robert thank you very much for your support. . HULLA-BALLOO MARCH 2012 PAGE One week prior to the Championships our beloved North Eastern Zone and the Clubs involved lost a wonderful member of our family. Taylor Farley was one of the kindest, caring and supportive young girls that I have ever had the privilege to meet and watch grow into a very talented young rider. Taylor you will be forever missed but not forgotten. On Saturday night we sat and remember Taylor with a beautiful tribute given to us by the Jan Faulkner ( President of PCAV ), The Zone Committee, and a wonderful reading given to us by Marni Hicks of Shepparton Pony Club. Thank you very much for your memorable tribute Marni you are an amazing young lady. Moving into Sunday and I couldn’t believe it was raining, my weather prediction flew out the door. Everything turned to mud and was soaked throughout including our poor trade stands who had water flowing under their tables. However the heat had dropped and the show went on. The Dressage riders had to present in torrential rain and mud however I was very impressed and wonder how they still kept their mounts and themselves with white Jodie’s so very clean. I was very impressed with this well done to you all. To all of the Competitors you all presented yourselves and your horses very well and looked great in your Zone team colours. Congratulations to all of the placegetters in every discipline you all rode extremely well in the conditions presented to you, most of all a huge congratulations to the North East riders especially the C Grade winners and state champions Kate Rowe, Lucy Crawford, Alexandra Robinson and Rebecca Robinson. Thank you to all of our sponsors that supported our championships without your generosity our event would not have been the huge success that it was. Thank you also to our Zone committee members, sub-committee members, and to each of our wonderful clubs that form our zone. Time is a hard thing to come by now days and to have so many people and clubs giving up their time for us is most appreciated. Thank you also to the PCAV Council for all of your support through our though time. I hope everyone that was in attendance enjoyed their time with us in the North East and we look forward joining you all again at next years event. Cheers: Adrian Dowell Zone Representative North Eastern Zone of PCAV. C GRADE WINNERS Rebecca, Lucy, Kate and Al;exandra Alexandra was also overall winner of C grade 3 PAGE 4 State Showjumping at Albury, February 25th – 26th. I was selected in the North eastern zone C grade showjumping team to compete at state in Albury. There were three other people in the team too. Their names are Lucy Crawford, Kate Rowe and my sister Rebecca Robinson. Our team manager was Kate’s mum Pip. On Saturday afternoon Lucy, Kate, Bec and I had our first event which was an AM5 we had to do one round clear. If we did go clear we went into a jump off round and we had to go fast as well. There was 37 people in C grade. All of our team went clear so we are in the jump off. Lucy went clear so did Kate, it was up to Bec and I to go clear. I go clear and Bec has the last rail down but went well. The results for that round are very good, Bec was 17th, Kate was 5th, Lucy was 3rd, and I won. Our team was very excited that we went that well and that I won was even better. “We had a great time at Albury” On Sunday we had to do 2 rounds. It was raining and the ground was pretty slippery. The first one was a one round stakes and we did really well in that. Bec was 13th, Kate was 10th I was 5th and Lucy won. Our team had the most points and that was fantastic. Then we have the last round which was the most important round. It was called a Two round Championship and we need to do two rounds and the second one was shortened. Kate had one time fault and Bec had a rail down, Lucy and I went clear. We are all still in the jump off. Lucy had two rails down Kate went clear, Bec had a stop and I went clear. I ended up winning and Kate was 5th, Lucy was 9th and Bec was 23rd. The final results came out and our team won in C grade and I won the individual champion. Pip and all of us where very excited. It was Lucy, Bec and my first time competing at state level. We got a rug, ribbon and a medal for first place. We had a great time at Albury . In February 2012 State Council voted to accept the 24/7 pa cover fee proposed by AON for the 2012-2013 membership year.
