March 2009 BABY FACES GAME Ask each guest to bring a picture of themselves as a baby or a little kid. Remember to get a picture of the guests of honor. Gather all of the photos and display them on the wall or table with numbers next to them. Ask everyone to inspect the photographs and write down their guesses as to the identity of the baby face in each picture. When everyone has written down their guesses, let each person identify which baby face is theirs. The person who makes the most correct guesses is the winner. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 4 - Rev. March 2009 BRIDE IS WEARING GAME This game challenges the guests’ memory skills. Ask the bride to step out of the room. Give each guest a copy of the list below and a pen. After 5 minutes collect their papers. Have the bride come back in the room, the guest with the most correct answers wins. 1. What kind of earrings is she wearing? 2. What color is her shirt or dress? 3. Does her shirt or dress have buttons? 4. What color is her pants or skirt? 5. Is she wearing a belt? 6. How many rings is she wearing? 7. Is she wearing a watch? 8. What color is her lipstick? 9. What color are her nails painted? 10. What color are her shoes? 11. Does her shoes have heels? 12. What type of necklace is she wearing? 13. Describe her hairstyle. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 5 - Rev. March 2009 CELEBRITY WEDDINGS GAME This takes some pre-planning from the hostess. Find 10 wedding photos of celebrity couples using magazines or the Internet. Cut out the bride from the groom. Glue each bride photo on a separate sheet of paper. Write a number 1-10 at the bottom of each bride sheet of paper. Glue each groom photo on a separate sheet of paper. Write a letter A-J at the bottom of each groom sheet of paper. Do not label the papers with obvious A number-letter 5 combinations. Give each guest a blank sheet of paper and pen. Hold up the first bride photo. Then hold up each groom photo one at a time. Instruct the guests to match the correct groom with the bride. The guest with the most correct answers wins. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 6 - Rev. March 2009 CENTERPIECE ACTIVITY If you have table centerpieces at your shower, this is a unique way to determine who gets to take it home. This is really nice for big showers and is a great way to mingle and thank guests for coming. Make up a variety of questions like: • Who is the youngest person at this table? • Who is the oldest person at this table? • Whose birthday is closest to the bride or groom? • Who traveled the farthest? • Who has the most children? • Who is engaged to be married? • Who has been married the longest? Then the bride goes table to table and asks one of the guests at the table to pick a question from a basket? This is a great time for hugs, photos and to thank your guests. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 7 - Rev. March 2009 Make copies of this page to give to all the guests. Before the couple starts opening gifts, have each guest make their own bingo card by writing in the gifts they think the couple will receive. The guests can only mark their squares if they pre-listed that gift on their bingo card. BINGO www.weddinggame.biz - Page 9 - Rev. March 2009 GUESS WHO? GAME This is a wedding game for the reception that aims to place the bride and groom in the spotlight using one very simple prop: a blindfold. To test how well the groom knows his new bride, have him blindfolded and seated in a chair facing all the reception guests. Now comes the fun part. Round up as many guests as possible, from the young to the old, men and women. The Objective Can the groom figure out which one in the lineup is his new bride? In the tame version, the groom can shake each guest's hand to find his new wife. Remember to play some fun and upbeat music during this game! Other Possibilities Have each guest kiss the groom on the cheek; the groom must feel each person's leg (particularly fun if there are a lot of men in the lineup!). www.weddinggame.biz - Page 10 - Rev. March 2009 HANDBAG HUNT GAME Include a note in the shower invitation, telling guests to bring their purses with them. At the shower, have each guest place her handbag on her lap. Then, one by one, call out items typically found in a handbag. For example: lipstick, mirror, keys, gum, etc. The guest who finds each of the items first scores a point. The highest score wins. For Extra Fun Before the game begins, sneak an oddball item, such as a boiled egg, a doggie biscuit, a man’s sock (or something racier!) into a few of the guest’s handbags, then call those items during the game. (Since they are “plants,” you may not want to count them towards the totals, but they are good for a laugh!) www.weddinggame.biz - Page 11 - Rev. March 2009 HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW THE COUPLE? This takes some pre-planning from the hostess. The hostess interviews the couple ahead of time with a series of questions about how they met, their hobbies, their likes/dislikes and even some personal information (like shoe size, favorite foods, etc.) The list of questions is typed up (in multiple choice or fill-in-the-blank) and copies are made to hand out at the shower or reception. How To Play Give each guest a pen and a copy of the questions. Allow 10 minutes for guests to write down their answers. When the time is up, the hostess reads each question and the couple’s answer. The guest with the most correct answers wins a prize. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 12 - Rev. March 2009 HUSBANDS ARE MADE OF...GAME Each clue below represents some part of a man’s body. March 2009 LIMERICK/POEMS CONTEST Each guest is given a sheet of paper and a pen. Ten minutes are allotted to compose a limerick or poem about the couple. The couple reads each one and awards the prize to the guest who is the “Most Silly” or “Most Creative” Examples Once a fine fellow named Dave Swore that, single, he’d go to his grave. Then the girl of his dreams Changed his mind, so it seems. So, how did she get Dave to cave? Here’s a toast to a fine young miss. A hundred men she must have kissed. Then, finally, her handsome prince she met. And now, their wedding date is set. No more lowly toads to kiss. She’s bound for happily wedded bliss. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 14 - Rev. March 2009 LOVE COUNTS GAME Wedding game for a reception For this wedding game, you will need lots of Hershey's Kisses in a bucket or box. The goal is for the guests to guess how many Kisses the bride or groom can hold in their hands! This simple game is perfect for a reception of any size. Have the groom dip his hands into a bucket full of Kisses to grab as many as he can. With the Kisses in his hands, the guests must guess how many Kisses he is holding. As the bride slowly puts each Kiss back in the bucket, have all the guests help in the counting process. The guest with the closest guess to the final count wins a prize. Alternate Version Have the bride try to pile on as many Kisses as she can onto the groom. She can place them wherever she wants to but he cannot drop them! In this modified version, all the guests can be involved cheering the bride as she piles the Kisses higher and higher onto the groom! www.weddinggame.biz - Page 15 - Rev. March 2009 Love Coupons make a wonderful gift for that special person in your life at any time of the year. Copy or cut out the coupons that you like or make your own and staple them into a little booklet. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 16 - Rev. March 2009 www.weddinggame.biz - Page 17 - Rev. March 2009 MARRIAGE IS...ACTIVITY Here is a creative activity for a reception. Give all of the guests (including children) a blank index card and a pen. Ask them to write down their answers to complete the following sentence, “Marriage is…” Collect everyone’s answer cards and place them in a decorative box for the bride and groom. Another option is to give everyone note paper instead of cards. On the blank side of a large sheet of wrapping paper print in bold letters “Marriage is…” at the top.. Tape everyone’s answers to the wrapping paper. Roll it up and tie with a ribbon to present to the bride and groom. If time permits, have the best man and maid of honor take turns reading a few of the guests’ answers during the toasting time. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 18 - Rev. March 2009 M-WORD GAME For this game you will need as many clothespins or safety pins as you have players. Each player is given one clothespin to wear. The object of the game is to collect as many of the pins as possible. The M-Word is “marriage” or any variation of the word “married” and “marry.” As the party progresses, any person who catches another person saying the M-Word gets to take that person’s pin plus any extra pins she may have collected from the other players. Play this game until one person has all the pins. Or choose a time for the game to end and the person who has the most pins at that point is the M-Word champion. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 19 - Rev. March 2009 PINCHING PENNIES GAME Fill a large bowl (a punch bowl is great) with uncooked white rice grains (at least 2 pounds). Mix in 25 pennies. This bowl of rice will serve as the mother of all disorganized purses. Challenge players one at a time to find as many coins as they can within one minute while blindfolded. Replenish the rice with pennies after each play. The one who pinches out the most pennies cashes in for a reward. Variation/Tips Don’t blindfold players and give them only 30 seconds to grab as many coins as they can. Add one additional rule, for each grain of rice they spill, an equal number of coins are taken from their “found” pile. Mix 10 paperclips into the rice as red herrings. Add dimes for more points. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 22 - Rev. March 2009 TOILET PAPER TROUSSEAU GAME Divide guests into teams of three of four. Provide each team with two rolls of toilet paper and a roll of tape. While the hostess and the Bride-to-Be wait in another room, each team must choose a “bride” from their ranks and outfit her in a toilet paper wedding dress. After 15 minutes, the hostess and Bride-to-Be return to the room. The “Toilet Paper Brides” then model their dresses and the Bride-to-Be selects her favorite design. Each member of the winning team takes home a prize. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 24 - Rev. March 2009 TRUTH OR LIE GAME Players introduce themselves by telling the group three things about themselves, two must be true and one must be a lie. The group must decide by consensus which statement is not true. The player reveals the fib. The game continues with the next person until everybody has a turn. This game can have multiple winners by those who succeed in pulling the wool over the audience’s eyes. 1. 2. 3. 4. Variation/Tips Advise tongue-tied guests to theme the three statements together. It can be about their cooking, driving, work, or talents - whatever they feel comfortable revealing and will make for compelling conversation. For example, a guest might declare: “I totaled my car once. I failed my driver’s test twice. And got ticketed for driving the wrong way on a street once.” The host should go first, giving everybody time to come up with creative introductions. To encourage more clever deception, award a prize to players who are able to hoodwink the others. This variation simplifies the game. Have each player flip a coin before they speak. If it comes up heads, they tell one true fact about themselves, if it comes up tails, they tell a lie. Guests (who do not see the result of the coin toss) have to guess if the information was the truth or a lie. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 25 - Rev. Randomly give each guest an etiquette question card and blank card. Tell them to write their sincere answer to the assigned question on the blank card. Below are sample questions, precede each with, “What do you do if…” • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • You see the Groom has his fly down during the ceremony? You’re allergic to the fish being served at the reception? The Best Man gets food poisoning the morning of the wedding? The Bride is getting drunk on champagne? The photographer accidentally mashes half of the wedding cake? The flower girl and ring bearer start fighting down the aisle? A guest falls asleep during the ceremony and is snoring loud? The Bride’s bouquet toss accidentally knocks a guest unconscious? The Groom cuts a loud fart during the exchange of vows? The pastor/officiant never shows up for the wedding ceremony? The caterer refuses to serve at the reception until an additional $1000 is paid to cover a last-minute food substitution? The Groom accidentally gets a black eye an hour before the wedding? The band for the reception leaves early because the wedding ran late? The Maid of Honor gets the hiccups during the ceremony? An unusually hot day causes all the icing decorations on the wedding cake to melt and slip off the cake? You’ve lost the wedding rings the day of the wedding? The wedding limousine never shows up after the ceremony? The singer at the reception sings so badly everybody notices? The Groom’s ex tells him she still loves him at the wedding? Collect the question and answer cards, putting the question cards in one paper bag, and all the answer cards in another. Have each guest randomly draw a question card and answer card and read them aloud to the group. For example, one question and answer pair might go like this, “What do you do if the Groom has his fly down during the ceremony? Eat around the fish, then push it around your plate and hope nobody notices.” www.weddinggame.biz - Page 27 - Rev. March 2009 WEDDING WHAT IF'S ACTIVITY This outrageous activity is a great way to start the shower or reception off with a lot of laughs. Players fill out answers to different "what if" questions. The twist is that when a question is read, its answer will be a randomly chosen one. You just never know what answer might pair up with the question "What would the Bride do if she caught the Groom checking her text messages?" Maybe it was originally the answer to the question "What would the Bride do if she found out the Groom had his best man write his wedding vows for him?" How to Play Guests each draw a Question from the 'Questions' bowl and a blank Answer Slip from the 'Answers' bowl. Guests write the answer to their question on the Answer Slip and place the questions back into the original 'Questions' bowl and place the answers into the 'Answers' bowl. Let each guest take a turn picking one question and one answer and reading them out loud. www.weddinggame.biz - Page 28 - Rev.
