We open 2016 with one of our most exciting auctions ever. The centerpiece of this auction is a very high grade collection of sets and near-sets from 1939 through 1969. These are mostly from a single owner who worked tirelessly at shows in the 1990s and early 2000s, assembling all of these the old fashioned way, card-by-card. These are exceptionally well centered and fine sets, and perhaps best of all, have not been seen on the market until now and are fresh to the current hobby. Baseball cards begin the auction, and frankly would be a high quality auction unto themselves. Highlights among single cards include 1914 Cracker Jack cards of Shoeless Joe Jackson PSA 1 and Ty Cobb SGC 4.5, a 1952 Topps Mantle SGC 2, a super rare 1953 Briggs Mickey Mantle and a 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente RC SGC 7.5. Condition rarities include a 1951 Bowman #324 Pramesa in a PSA 9, several amazing 1953 Topps cards including a Dick Groat PSA 8.5 and a 1967 Topps Don Demeter PSA 10. Baseball card set highlights include fully graded 1957 and 1958 Topps PSA 6/7 sets, a super rare 1962 Canadian Post Cereal set in addition to the aforementioned Topps, Bowman and Play Ball run. Baseball autographs come next, with some great highlights. There are terrific single signed baseballs, with note to a Mint personalized Babe Ruth, a rare Heinie Manush, a rare Red Faber, a nice Roberto Clemente, a rare Fidel Castro and much more. We have a terrific Babe Ruth signed 8x10 photo, a super rare Bill Dahlen signed 3x5, terrific 1974 and 1983 Topps signed sets, an incredible Carl Hubbell letter, a signed 1961 Fleer Jimmie Foxx card, a fine 1947-66 Jackie Robinson signed Exhibit card and much more. For collectors of historical autographs, we have some great material. Offerings include a John Quincy Adams signed letter, an Andrew Jackson signed document, a stunning Abraham Lincoln autograph signed five days before he died, an amazing Eisenhower letter regarding his historic Atoms for Peace speech at the United Nations and a General Custer signed check display. Entertainment autographs include a stunning Elvis Presley signed 8x10 and more terrific Norman Rockwell signed flats. Non-sports cards are a real strong point of this auction. We have several classic and important 1930s and 1940s gum sets, including a full 1933 Goudey Indian set, a 1938 Horrors of War, a 1940 Lone Ranger set and a 1941 Uncle Sam set with the rare high numbers among others. Collectors from other sports will see some quality vintage basketball card sets and lots going back to 1948, two good Michael Jordan signed UDA items, many Ali signed items, a quality run of football sets including 1948 and 1950 Bowman and many key football vintage HOF autographs. Hockey collectors will see many mid and better grade sets from 1933 Ice King through 1966 Topps, including Bobby Hull and Bobby Orr Rookie Cards. Baseball memorabilia closes out the auction. Highlights include several very desirable pre-1910 publications, a rare 1953 P.F. Flyer Mickey Mantle large cardboard sign, some wonderful press pins and signed game jerseys from Tom Glavine, John Smoltz and Curt Schilling. 4 Happy Bidding - Clean Sweep Auctions 99 Seaview Blvd Suite 350 Port Washington, NY 11050 Phone 516 338 8557 Fax 516 338 8559 email: [email protected] web: cleansweepauctions.com Clean Sweep Auctions #232 CLOSES WEDNESDAY February 3, 2016 at 11 PM EST w/ the ten minute rule www.cleansweepauctions.com E-mail: [email protected] 9 AM - 5 PM EST Monday - Friday (516) 338 - 8557 FAX: (516) 338 - 8559 NEW ADDRESS **99 Seaview Blvd Suite 350 Port Washington, New York 11050** Rules of the Auction: 1. Reneggers From Previous Auctions: William Buschmann Michael Oasheim 7518 Creekton Drive 25445 Via Escovar Louisville KY 40242 Valencia CA 91355 Jay Fabrikant 6019 Agatha Christie Ave Las Vegas NV 89131 Robert Rodriguez 830 Brown Street Reno NV 89509 5 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards Baseball Card Ungraded Singles, Sets and Lots 1 1899 National Copper Plate 1 Louis Criger (July 1) Ex................. 180 Very clean and fine, there is a hint of a fold line by the extreme left border from being in a book at one time. The surfaces are strikingly clean, with a spot of wear on the back and slight toning at the very bottom border. Ideal type card. 2 1899 National Copper Plate 6 John O’Connor (June 24) Ex-Mt+......... 285 Stunning condition, just a hair below Near Mint. The edges are crisp, the corners are all sharp, the surfaces immaculate. Perfect for a condition sensitive type-card collector or someone who simply appreciates condition rarities. 3 1900 M101-1 Sporting News Premiums 54 Edward P. Scott (Aug. 25) VG+............. 100 Edge wear at the top borders keeps this at VG Plus. No clear creases or wrinkles, otherwise very clean and attractive. 4 1900 M101-1 Sporting News Premiums 59 Burt E. Jones (Sept. 29) VG-Ex/Ex..... 120 Clean mid to better grade piece. This has a very small and fine surface crease and hardly any other wear. The edges are clean, as are the surfaces. 5 1904 W601 Sporting Life Premium Fort Wayne VG-Ex............ 75 Scarce Minor League team. Bright and attractive, with some fine paper wrinkles that can be felt but not seen and a very slight stain on the left border. Matted, this awaits your choice of frame. 6 1905 W601 Sporting Life Premium Brooklyn Dodgers NM............... 200 One of the earliest team prints of the 20th century Brooklyn Dodgers (this is so early they were not even called Dodgers yet!). Beautiful print in glorious condition with images of 16 of these early Brooklyn ballplayers. How many have ever seen this before in Near Mint condition? 7 1905 W601 Sporting Life Premium Chicago Cubs NM............... 200 Beautiful print of one of the greatest teams in the history of the Cubs. HOF trio Tinker-Evers-Chance and HOF pitcher Mordecai Brown are all well depicted here. The center image is Mint, this has the usual file holes on the left side from time of issue and some wear on the extreme edge but we are grading this Near Mint as it is a rare full-size example. A true piece of baseball history that hardly ever comes to market, especially in the amazing condition of the offered lot. 6 8 1905 W601 Sporting Life Premium Detroit Tigers (Cobb RC) VG................ 500 Very important baseball premium that features images of 19 different Tigers. Dated 1905, the bottom right corner features a portrait of an almost cherubic Ty Cobb from his Rookie Season. This large premium has two tears on the right side, none of which approach the image of Cobb and the images have a pinkish tint that we believe is from the time of printing but we are not 100% sure. HOFer Sam Crawford is fittingly right next to Cobb. Cobb played his first 41 games in 1905, making this absolutely his Rookie card and image. Cobb went on to play in 3,034 total games to give one a tiny vignette into the length of his career. An important item that very rarely sees the light of day in the sale or auction markets (this was purchased in our October 2000 auction by our consignor). Smartly framed, total size 16x17. With the current craze for Rookie Cards of vintage players, it does not honestly get much better than a true Rookie Card of Ty Cobb that predates anything else by two years! February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 9 1905 W601 Sporting Life Premium Philadelphia Phillies NM............... 150 Gorgeous full size Sporting Life premium with the original punch holes on the left side and with full, huge borders as issued. Wear is only at the very edge, and quite minimal at that. This team was managed by HOFer Hugh Duffy, who appropriately occupies the center of this piece. Scarce collectibles, these are so undervalued in this market. 151909 W601 Sporting Life Premium Philadelphia Phillies Ex-Mt........... 200 Nice item with HOFer Stan Coveleskie as a Rookie and Magee, Dooin and Titus. Removed at one time from a scrapbook (with no back damage), this measures 12.5 x 11.25 and is strinkingly clean and attractive, superb condition. 161909 W601 Sporting Life Premium St. Louis Cardinals Ex-Mt........... 200 Bresnahan is the only HOFer on this very attractive premium in terrific condition with Sallee, Konetchy and Hulswitt. Removed at one time from a scrapbook (with no back damage), this measures 12.5 x 11.25. The image quality is superb. 10 1906 Russell’s Rustlers Near Master Set w/Box & Header Cards (105 pcs) VG-Ex.......... 100 Obscure 1906 issue, this lot is unique in that it contains 51 different cards with the red player on the front, including the vital header card providing year of issue and manufacturer. In addition, there are 54 blue background cards, also with the header, these are interesting as one card has a 1910 copyright with a player image on both sides. The original issue box is also included. The condition on the red background cards is a nice VG/Ex overall, the blue background cards are much rougher, GVG/VG overall. Interesting piece is fresh to the hobby. The closest thing to a set probably in circulation. 11 1906 W601 Sporting Life Premium NL Leaders and Team Managers Ex................. 175 Truly a rare print - how many have ever seen this or knew of its existence? HOFers Duffy, Chance, McGraw and Clarke (all managers) are featured on this great looking and imaginative piece of graphic design with short-lived Harry Pulliam at the center (Pulliam was to commit suicide in 1910 - base ball was a rough game back then!). Condition is a little rougher than the others, there are some odd marks on the borders and some general wear, but the center image is nearly flawless, with just a few stray marks. 12 1906 W601 Sporting Life Premium New York AJ&G VG-Ex............ 75 Fine looking matted Sporting Life premium of this Minor League New York State team. Some paper wrinkles can be felt but not seen, this has a very fresh and attractive look. 13 1908 W601 Sporting Life Premium Albany Senators VG.................. 75 Full size, this has a crease on the right border and wear on the left side from time of issue in an album. Otherwise very bright and clean, this is a scarce Minor League team. 14 1909 W601 Sporting Life Premium New York Giants Ex+............... 400 Gorgeous team portrait with a youthful McGraw at the center surrounded by players like Mathewson, Devlin, Merkle, Tenney, Marquard and Wiltse. The image quality is simply stunning; this is in terrific condition with no toning or print problems. A very clean item. A hint of wrinkling by the upper right corner keeps this from grading Ex-Mt or Near Mint. Removed at one time from a scrapbook (with no back damage), this measures 12.5 x 11.25. 7 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 171909T206 Collection of 17 different w/3 HOFers GVG......... 200 Pleasing lower grade lot, six cards have writing on the back (some in pencil) or other back issues. The fronts of the cards are generally clean and easily average at least VG overall. All will be pictured front and back on our web site. Content is as follows: Atz, Bradley (portrait), Bresnahan (portrait), Dineen, Dooin (2), Dougherty (portrait), Hummel, Hunter, Jacklitsch, Maloney, Mattern, McGraw (portrait, with cap), Overall (hand face level), Powell, Walsh and White (Buffalo). 181910 P2 Sweet Caporal Pins Collection of 9 different HOFers Ex-Mt........... 125 Smartly presented, this lot contains nine different HOFers from this classic pin set. HOFers are Brown (large letter), Collins, Evers, Griffith, Johnson, Mathewson, McGraw, Wallace and Young. I like the presentation here. Condition is Ex to Ex-Mt overall, everything is pictured front and back on our web site. 191910 P2 Sweet Caporal Pins 41 different commons Ex-Mt........... 250 41 commons plus Clark Griffith! A nice lot, these all have the paper backings and easily average Ex-Mt in our view. 15% have a shot at 7-9 grades, 15% are Ex or so, the balance almost all Ex-Mt. A substantial lot from this increasingly popular and classic pinback issue, a full listing will be on our web site. 201912 S81 Large Silk Red Dooin Ex................. 300 Sharp silk has square corners and a nice overall feel. This retains its brilliant original sheet, has huge borders and offers tremendous eye appeal. Some slight toning on the left edge keep this at an awfully nice and sharp Ex overall. Please note this comes with the rare original backing. This is our last higher grade example in stock. 8 211912 T202 Triple Folders Collection of 55 w/HOFers - 51 different! VG to VG-Ex.......... 2000 One of the most undervalued tobacco issues, largely because grading companies can be almost abusive with how these are graded. Condition varies from Good to about Ex, mainly VG and VG-Ex. Cards tend to have clean backs and no technical defects. The backs have no damage, only a few fronts need to be replaced. Most of the fronts do not have the center crease, which is unusual. Better cards in this lot are as follows: A Close Play At The Home Plate (Pelty, Wallace), Baker Gets His Man (Frank Baker, Eddie Collins), Birmingham’s Home Run (Birmingham, Turner), Catching Him Napping (Bresnahan, Oakes), Chase Dives Into Third (Chase, Wolter), Chase Gets Ball Too Late (Chase, Wolter), Chase Guarding First (Gibson, Leifield), Close At Third-Wagner (Carrigan, Wagner) (2), Harry Lord At Third (Lennox, Tinker), Schaefer Steals Second (Clark Griffith, McBride), Speaker Almost Caught (Clarke, Miller), Speaker Scores (Engle, Speaker) and The Athletic Infield (Brown, Graham). A very substantial lot with the key Birmingham’s Home Run card and cards of Tris Speaker and Home Run Baker with Eddie Collins headlining the lot. There is not better value in tobacco cards right now than this very undervalued issue. 221912 T215 Pirate Unopened Pack! Ex................. 150 Revered tobacco issue, among the rarest of all early 20th century issues. Offered is an extremely attractive and visually striking original pack. Produced by W. D. & H. O. Wills, this is sealed on all four sides but we presume there is no baseball card within. The pack is bright and fresh, grading at least Ex overall. Charming pack is probably the key to any tobacco pack/box run. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 23 1913 Baseball Magazine Premium Christy MathewsonVG-Ex.......... 150 Grand oversize piece, this has a tremendous image of Matty in his unique motion, an image that is hardly ever published. Measuring out at 9 1/2 x 19, this has typical edge wear that is so easily matted out for display if desired, the image and surfaces are quite nice overall. The back is clean. This should look amazing in the right frame. 24 1913 Baseball Magazine Premium Shoeless Joe JacksonEx................. 400 So undervalued, this is one of the most attractive period pieces of Shoeless Joe. Checking in at a hefty 9 1/2 x 19, try getting this in a slab! This offers a wonderful real image of Jackson leaning on his knees ready to make a play in a Cleveland uniform. This has sharp edges, clean borders and a fantastic image, with only the slightest general wear on the front. The back has two areas of wear from being in a frame or such, but is also very clean overall. Outstanding original Joe Jackson item from 1913, these are a true bargain in today’s market. 27 1915 PM1 Ornate Pin Ty Cobb VG................ 500 Extremely attractive pin, one of the most desirable of the era. The image of Cobb is a bit light like usual, about a 5/10 overall with note to some general wear. The great borders present well; an honest VG pin. Affordable example of a very pricey pin, this is also perfect for a HOF type-card collection. 28 1923 German Baseball Transfers Complete Set on Sheet (25 pcs)Ex................. 150 Fun piece, this has tremendous color and perfect image quality. This has been folded at one time for mailing, which does affect the row with Babe Ruth. A good piece to enjoy intact; these have become very hard to find due to slabbing. This colorful sheet has 10 baseball HOFers including Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb and many boxing stars. Please note the rows with Cobb and Speaker are not affected by the fold lines. 251914 B18 Blanket Shoeless Joe Jackson (purple pennants) Ex-Mt....... 400 Always popular, this is an absolute key to this great set. A true period Joe Jackson item that is very attractive, these seem like bargains to us at current market levels. Well preserved, this has nice wide borders, clean surfaces and subtle stitch marks as intended on just one side. The image of Jackson is complete and is clear, it contrasts nicely against the blanket. The back is clean as well, with no issues. Solid example of a vital B18 blanket that is missing from so many sets. 261914 B18 Blanket 77 different commons Ex-Mt... 650 One of the most underrated of all tobacco issues, these are extremely attractive and creative images. Not something to be slabbed, perhaps this should make this set only more collectible as it will not weigh 200 lbs complete! The offered run is smartly assembled in 2-pocket pages in 2 binders. These are very colorful and clean cards, about 70% Ex-Mt or better with many terrific Near Mint examples, the balance almost all Ex or a nice Ex Plus. These tend to have wide borders and present extremely well. A great value and just a fun set to collect, an exact listing will be on our web site. Please check the scans on our web site to get a flavor for some of the nicer cards in this lot. 291923W515-1 Collection of 2 Full Uncut Strips w/many HOFers Ex..... 600 Very attractive matched pair of colorful 1923 W515-2 uncut strips of 10. These have no creases upon examination and are very clean, with note to the usual wear to the end cards. There are no less than 10 HOFers of the cards! These include key names Rogers Hornsby, Tris Speaker, Casey Stengel, Ross Youngs, Eddie Collins and Wilbert Robinson. These have become extremely scarce in recent years owing to grading. Go to www.cleansweepauctions.com for many additional images. Initial bids must be placed by 6 PM EST Wednesday February 3. 9 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 301930 German Olympic Book Collection w/Babe Ruth Cards (7 pcs) Ex-Mt........... 350 A 7 piece ensemble of German publications pertaining to the 1936 Berlin Olympics including the hardbound 2 volume book set Olympia 1936 with pictures tipped in (mostly B & W) throughout including one of famed gold medalist Jesse Owens. There are two issues of the popular Handbuch des Sports each featuring a color picture of Babe Ruth among the many other pictures tipped in. Another hardbound book Die Olympischen Spiele includes scenic B & W stereo pictures tipped in (missing viewer). The last book is soft bound Olympia 1936 complete with B & W tipped in pictures. The final item in the lot is a boxed group of cards labeled Sport Quartett No 294 Ferd. Piatnik, & Sohne Wien XIV featuring individual cards depicting the various Olympic sports. The condition is clean overall. 321935Goudey Uncut Sheet w/Frank Frisch Puzzle Fair............. 1200 Super cool piece, something that just never comes around. The 1935 Goudey set is unique in many ways, one of which is that various series combine to make a player puzzle. Fanatical collectors of this set attempt to get every front combination to match these puzzles, so this should be of enormous interest to such collectors (along with many others). The offered piece is in admittedly low grade condition but it retains striking original color and imagery despite some creasing and tackholes by the corners from understandable one-time display. The front offers six cards, with note to the key card of Babe Ruth and Rabbit Maranville; other HOFers pictured are Jim Bottomley, Kiki Cuyler, Burleigh Grimes, Waite Hoyt, Travis Jackson, Chuck Klein, Bill Terry and both Waner Brothers, bringing the total number of HOFers represented to an amazing 12 of the 24 pictured! A great little piece that may not come around again, it is that rare. 10 311931 Metropolitan Studios Cardinals Complete Set VG-Ex.......... 300 Extremely attractive oversize issue has 30 fine looking images. As this was such a great team, this set contains many HOFers and a very undervalued card of Branch Rickey. Condition varies from VG to VG-Ex, a reasonably nice set overall. The keys are as follows: 3 James Bottomly Ex, 6 Dizzy Dean VG-Ex, 9 Frank Frisch VG-Ex, 12 Burleigh Grimes VG-Ex/Ex, 13 Charles Chick Hafey Ex, 14 Jesse Haines VG+, 21 Pepper Martin VG+ and 24 Branch Rickey VP VG. Only the Sam Breadon card needs to be upgraded. 331936 R313 Fine Pen Complete Set Ex+............... 500 Very, very underrated 120-card set. These are not rare but making a full set is far from easy given the relatively large size and some tougher commons and simply a bevy of HOFers (30+ on the 120 cards!). Set is also nice as it has many charming multi-player cards, a Rookie Joe DiMaggio and a very popular Moe Berg card. Often found in terrible condition due to the somewhat fragile paper stock, the offered set happens to be an exceptionally consistent and well collected Ex or so set (condition is almost all VG+ to Ex-Mt, nothing really needs to be done here). Please note these are presented back-to-back in four-pocket sheets, several cards have slight marks from scrapbook removal, mostly extra paper, we graded the key cards like this VG Plus as the fronts were quite clean. The keys are as follows: 8 Moe Berg VG-Ex/Ex, 26 Cochrane/Foxx/Simmons VG+, 31 Cuyler/ Hartnett VG+, 33 Dickey/Greenberg NM, 35 DiMaggio/ Erickson VG+, 39 Ferrell Bros VG-Ex/Ex, 41 Frisch NM, 43 Gehringer Ex, 47 Gomez VG-Ex, 48 Gomez/Ruffing Ex, 49 Goslin Ex-Mt, 51 Greenberg VG+, 52 Grove VG-Ex/Ex, 57 Harris NM, 66 Hornsby NM, 67 Hoyt VG-Ex/Ex, 77 Mack/ McGraw VG+, 81 Medwick Ex+, 96 Simmons VG, 97 Stengel VG+, 100 Traynor VG, 102 Vaughn VG+, 104 Honus Wagner VG+, 108 Waner’s/Weaver VG+ and 115 Chicago White Sox 1936 GVG. Aside from the time, these would not doubt run several thousand dollars to assemble as singles. This set is hands down one of the great remaining values in 1930s baseball cards. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 34 1936 R314 Wide Pen 109 different w/22 HOFers VG-Ex/Ex..... 450 Very pleasing and well collected lot of these undervalued and attractive postcard size black and white cards. Condition varies from VG to Ex-Mt but is mainly in the VGEx range (with many nicer) and these present very well. HOFers are as follows: Earl Averill, Mickey Cochrane, Joe Cronin, Kiki Cuyler, Bill Dickey, Rick Ferrell, Rick Ferrell, Wes Ferrell, Frankie Frisch, Charles Gehringer, Lefty Gomez, Goose Goslin, Hank Greenberg, Bucky Harris, Gabby Hartnett, Chuck Klein, Fred Lindstrom, Al Lopez, Al Simmons, Arky Vaughan, Lloyd Waner and Paul Waner. Six scarcer brown sepia’s are also included: Blanton, Fletcher, Galan, Gehringer, Harder and Vosmik. Substantial offers a simply tremendous value. 35 1936 S & S Game Card Complete Set w/many PSA 8 and 9 HOFers Nm-Mt......... 600 Very strong and fresh set, we sent 16 cards to PSA. Easily Nm-Mt or better overall, the condition is simply terrific here. The following cards are graded: Appling PSA 8, Averill PSA 8, Cronin PSA 8, Cuyler PSA 8, Dickey PSA 4, Foxx PSA 8, Frisch PSA 8, Gehringer PSA 8, Hartnett PSA 9, Hubbell PSA 9, Klein PSA 8, Medwick PSA 8, Ott PSA 9, Traynor PSA 8, Vaughan PSA 8 and P. Waner PSA 8. Please note the SMR on just the 16 graded cards is $1,765. Lots of value here, there are probably more 9s within this set. 36 1939 Play Ball Sample Back Collection of 62 w/DiMaggio & Hubbell Ex................. 300 Pleasing run of the popular sample back variations, a full listing will be on our web site. Condition is about Ex overall with mild variance, not bad at all. The Joe DiMaggio came back a PSA 4, as did the Hubbell, both are very solid for their grades. Other better cards include Klein, Vaughn, Derringer and Mungo. 371939 Play Ball Near-Set (145 different) w/many HOFers & High #s Ex-Mt........... 900 Smartly collected run of 1939 Play Balls, our consignor was especially focused on centering. This very substantial offering contains 43 of the very underrated high numbers. The highs are about 70% Ex-Mt, 10% Near Mint, the balance a nice Ex or Ex Plus, they look terrific. The low numbers look to be a strong Ex-Mt to Ex-Mt/NM overall with only slight variance. The key cards in this collection are as follows: 1 Powell Ex, 3 Ruffing VG-Ex/Ex, 6 Durocher Ex++, 7 Doerr NM, 19 P Dean Ex-Mt+, 20 PSA 7, 30 Dickey PSA 6, 39 Ferrell Ex, 48 Gomez PSA 6, 50 Gehringer Ex+, 51 Ott PSA 7, 53 Hubbell PSA 4.5, 55 A Vaughn Ex-Mt+, 56 Greenberg VG-Ex/Ex, 82 C Klein PSA 5, 89 L Waner PSA 7, 94 Manush NM, 103 M Berg PSA 4, 112 P Waner Ex++, 127 PSA 6, 143 Averill PSA 7, 147 PSA 7, 152 PSA 7 and 160 PSA 6. Missing the DiMaggio and Williams cards, the other keys are all here and the high number run is just about complete, making this a very, very manageable project to complete. Overall this is a very fine and fresh lot that was clearly assembled with great care by a collector with a good eye. 381939-46 Salutation Exhibits Very Near-Set w/many keys (69 different) Ex-Mt.... 500 Extremely well collected lot, this is a very popular and underrated issue, notable for its many key HOFers and difficult printing variations. This lot is as clean as most come, easily averaging a strong Ex-Mt overall with some nicer cards. An extremely difficult run to complete, this includes the following key cards: 10 D. Dean Ex, 13 DiMaggio VGEx/Ex, 18 Foxx Ex-Mt, 20 Gehringer Ex-Mt, 21 Gomez AT PSA, 24 Greenberg Very Truly Yours AT PSA, 25 Grove ExMt, 26 Hartnett AT PSA, 30 Holmes Sincerely Yours Ex-Mt, 36 Kreevich Ex-Mt, 45 Medwick Ex+, 48 Mulcahy Ex-Mt+, 51 Ott USA Left Corner Ex-Mt, 55 Reiser USA Left Corner Ex+, 57 Russell AT PSA, 61 VanderMeer Ex, 66 Williams #9 Shows AT PSA and 67 Williams No #9 (3) Ex-Mt/NM. This is a very manageable (if pricey) project to complete as almost of the difficult legwork has been done. Very, very fine offering, an exact inventory listing will be on our web site. 11 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 391940 Alerta Antonio Alcalde Premiums Very Near Set (69/72) w/Dandridge VG................ 200 Underrated oversize 8x10 issue, this is missing only Formental, Manning and Moreno. This issue is loaded with future Major League players and former Negro Leaguers. Condition varies, a handful or less have an ink number written, others mainly have honest wear from handing, others are much nicer. The key to this set is a desirable Ray Dandridge card. 401940 Harry Hartman Cincinnati Reds Near-Set w/PSA 8s and box Ex-Mt/NM... 150 Fine near-set of 27 different including the header and order form cards. This very sharp lot has three PSA 8s: Joost, Moore and Werber. Other better cards include Derringer, Gowdy, McCormick, McKechnie, VanderMeer and Walters. Centering varies, these are otherwise super sharp and clean (some of the cards we graded came back 9s these are so nice - we did not submit any of these for grading). 421941 Double Play Collection of 30 different w/HOFers Ex-Mt........... 300 Small but quality lot of this underrated issue, condition is a very nice Ex-Mt/NM overall. Better cards are as follows: 57 Williams, Tabor PSA 5.5, 59 Cronin, Foxx PSA 5, 61 Gomez, Rizzuto RC PSA 5, 67 Gordon, Ruffing Ex-Mt, 77 Krakauskas, Feller PSA 5, 83 Gordon, Keller PSA 6, 99 Mize, Litwhiler VG, 105 Grove, Doerr PSA 6, 111 Henrich, Russo Ex-Mt and 119 Waner, Majeski NM. An exact listing of card numbers will be on our web site. 12 411940 Play Ball 182 different w/Ted Williams & Many HOFers Ex-Mt......... 1200 A strong collection of 1940 Play Balls, one of my personal favorites. These were assembled 10-20 years ago by a collector with a very good eye, and someone who was especially interested in quality centering. An extremely substantial collection, this contains a whopping 39 different HOFers and 44 high numbers. Condition is very nice, about 70% Ex-Mt/NM with nicer, the balance mostly a high-end VG-Ex or Ex, there are no weak cards here. Collected one-by-one with care, we hardly see this many cards from this condition sensitive issue in this quality. The key cards are as follows: 27 Ted Williams PSA 5, 38 Doerr Ex, 40 Greenberg Ex-Mt, 41 Gehringer Ex-Mt+, 46 Averill Ex++, 88 Ott PSA 5, 102 C Klein Ex, 107 Vaughn PSA 7, 118 W Hoyt Ex+, 119 Alexander VG-Ex, 120 W Johnson PSA 5, 124 E Combs Ex-Mt, 132 C Mack PSA 6, 133 Foxx PSA 5, 134 Cronin PSA 6, 135 SGC 7, 142 G Kelly PSA 5, 153 McKechnie Ex-Mt+, 158 Tr Jackson GVG, 167 Frisch Ex-Mt, 168 Wagner PSA 4.5, 170 Speaker PSA 6, 171 Heilmann Ex, 172 Bender Ex++, 173 Lajoie PSA 4, 174 Evers PSA 7, 175 Mathewson PSA 5, 176 Manush PSA 2, 177 Baker PSA 7, 179 Sisler Ex, 180 Cochrane Ex, 182 Knickerbocker, NYY PSA 7, 206 PSA 7, 208 PSA 7, 223 Jennings Ex-Mt, 226 Hooper PSA 5, 227 Haines Ex-Mt, 229 PSA 7, 230 Faber Ex-Mt, 232 Goslin VG-Ex, 234 Chance PSA 6, 235 McGraw Ex, 237 Keeler PSA 6 and 238 Lazzeri PSA 4. Bursting with value, this should not be a very difficult project to complete, and a dealer can of course have a field day pricing these out as singles. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 43 1941 Play Ball Near-Set (66 different) Ex............ 600 Colorful set is one of the most popular of its era, never easy to find in nice condition. The offered set is generally well centered and clean, some very minute technical defects kept down the PSA grades on some of the key cards. Missing only Williams, DiMaggio, Reese and Foxx (several are offered as single lots int he auction), the condition varies from VG-Ex to NM but is closer to Ex to Ex-Mt and the high numbers are nicer than the basic series. The better cards in this lot are as follows: 1 Miller Ex, 6 Hubbell PSA 4, 8 Ott PSA 4, 10 Vaughan VG (cut short), 15 Cronin VG-Ex/Ex, 18 Greenberg PSA 4, 19 Gehringer VG-Ex/Ex, 20 Ruffing VG, 21 Keller VG-Ex/Ex, 27 Young PSA 7, 28 Marty PSA 6, 39 Henrich VG+, 56 Vander Meer Ex-Mt, 60 Klein NM hand cut, 61 V DiMaggio PSA 5.5, 63 D DiMaggio Ex, 64 Doerr PSA 4, 70 Dickey VG and 72 Gomez PSA 4. An easy set to complete, a very pleasing and well collected mid-grade offering. 44 1941 Play Ball Paper Issue Collection of 20 different w/Ott & Greenberg Ex+....... 150 Very tough and underrated issue, these have better color and image clarity than the standard issue. Cut from sheets as intended, these have a very crisp look and feel. Card numbers are as follows: 1-12, 15-16, 18-20, 22-24. HOFers are Hubbell PSA 6, Ott PSA 5, Greenberg PSA 5, Gehringer PSA 5, Cronin, Ruffing and Vaughn. These do get slabbed these days, so there could be some real upside potential here. 45 1941 Play Ball Paper Issue Uncut sheet 1 - 12 with Ott, Hubbell and Vaughn Ex................. 500 12 card final process uncut sheet with vivid original coloring and nice white borders. The Paper issue 1941 Play Ball cards were issued exclusively in two different uncut sheets, of which this is the first. They were designed to be store displays to promote the cards. What I like about 1941 Play Ball Paper issue cards is that they have magnificent color and registration that is an order of magnitude beyond the regular 1941 Play Ball issue. Outside of this, the cards are EXACTLY IDENTICAL to the regular 1941 Play Ball cards. This sheet features HOFers Ott, Hubbell and Vaughn. There is some general wear to the sheet but no damage of any kind with a very light fold line in the middle of the sheet, not on any of the cards, keeping this at a very solid Ex grade. Very nice item that has completely dried up in the hobby in recent years and is almost rare due to slabbing. 461948 Bowman Complete Set -1 Ex-Mt........... 600 Missing only Stan Musial, this is being offered as a separate lot since it is a PSA 7. A fine Ex-Mt/NM run, these are well centered and clean overall. As with all 48 Bowman sets, some cards have been cut from a sheet way back when (these cards were collected 10-20 years ago). A fresh run overall, these are very difficult to find in this quality. The key cards are as follows: 1 Elliott RC Ex-Mt hand cut, 3 Kiner RC PSA 6, 4 Mize PSA 6, 5 Feller Ex-Mt hand cut, 6 Berra RC PSA 5, 7 Reiser SP Ex-Mt hand cut, 8 Rizzuto PSA 6, 17 Slaughter PSA 6, 18 Spahn RC PSA 6, 38 Schoendienst RC PSA 4 and 47 Thomson RC PSA 6. 471948 Collection of 5 Graded Cards ..................... 100 Five clean late 1940 cards, these all look better than the grade to us. Content is as follows: 48 Bowman 2 Blackwell PSA 5.5, 12 Sain PSA 6; 1948 Leaf 84 Hudson PSA 6, 97 Marion PSA 6 and 1949 Bowman Rizzuto NOF PSA 3. SMR is about $280. 481948 Leaf Collection of 51 different w/Williams & four short-prints VG-Ex.......... 600 Half of this great set in one shot, these are generally well centered and clean mid-grade cards, the regular commons mainly Ex and better. Substantial offering from a difficult and very condition sensitive issue, better cards in the lot are as follows: 11 Rizzuto RC PSA 4, 19 Wyrostek Ex-Mt *bd, 32 Spahn RC PSA 4, 38 Kluszewski RC PSA 4.5, 39 Blackwell RC VG-Ex, 46 Mize VG-Ex/Ex, 48 Schmitz Ex-Mt *bd, 49 Del Ennis RC Ex, 53 Vandermeer Ex, 59 Appling PSA 5, 66 Grove SP VG, 70 Wagner PSA 4, 76 Ted Williams PSA 4, 83 Doerr Ex, 91 Kiner RC VG-Ex/Ex, 97 Marion RC Ex-Mt+ possible trim, 106 Boudreau Ex++, 113 Leonard SP VG, 117 Joe Gordon Ex+, 136 Aberson Short Sleeve VG+ and 159 PSA 5. Substantial offering, especially considering commons list for almost $90 each! 13 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 501949 Havana Alerta Set Missing Two (68/70)Ex................. 250 Attractive issue from this era printed on semi-gloss paper and available as a premium; they measure 8 x 11. Recognizable names of future major leaguers include Sam Calderone, Sandalio Consuegra, Mike Gonzalez, Rollie Hemsley, Adolfo Luque, Max Manning, Conrado Marrerro, Willy Miranda and Ernie Shore among others. The key to this set is a real card of HOFer Ray Dandridge. The condition is mixed as there are a fair number of VGs. Fortunately, the key cards of Dandridge and Luque are both a solid Ex. Very undervalued set is missing just two commons. 491949Bowman Near-Set (233/240) + 12 variations Ex-Mt/NM..... 2000 One of my personal favorites, this is one of the five best 1949 Bowman sets that we have ever handled. Superb quality, this has all of the eye appeal of a Near Mint set but minute technical flaws lower the grades on some of the key cards. With that disclosed, these are well centered and beautiful cards, notable for bright colors and a clean, fresh look. Collected 10-20 years ago, cards like this are just not around any more. The basic series cards look great, about half Ex-Mt, half Near Mint, with very little variance. The high numbers are a step up, about 65% Near Mint or better, the balance almost all Ex-Mt, an exceptional run. PSA was a bit tough with the key cards, the winning bidder may well decide to crack them out or resubmit them. We did not review the commons for grading. The SMR on just the 24 graded cards is $3,285 and is extremely low: Paige 5 $850, Berra 5 $125, Musial 6 $325, Doby 6 $180, Snider 4 $300 etc. The key cards grade as follows: 1 Bickford RC PSA 5.5, 11 Boudreau PSA 7, 24 Musial PSA 6, 27 Feller PSA 6 mk, 29 Kiner NM, 33 Spahn Ex-Mt+, 36 Reese PSA 2 (sharp front, back crease), 46 R Roberts RC PSA 6, 60 Berra PSA 5, 65 Slaughter PSA 5.5, 70 Furillo RC PSA 7, 85.1 Mize NNOF Ex-Mt+, 85.2 Mize NOF Ex-Mt, 98.1 Rizzuto NNOF PSA 2 (clean w/slight scrape back), 98.2 Rizzuto NOF NM, 100 Hodges RC PSA 4 (looks much nicer), 110 E Wynn RC SBC 7, 111 Schoendienst NM, 175 Appling NM, 185 Reiser PSA 7, 192 PSA 5.5, 196 Hutchinson PSA 7, 209 Keller PSA 5, 216 Rowe PSA 3, 224 Paige RC PSA 5, 225 Coleman RC PSA 5, 226 D Snider RC PSA 4 (well ctd), 229 E Lopat RC PSA 5, 233 Doby RC PSA 6, 238 B Lemon RC PSA 5 and 240 Young PSA 7. The missing card #s are 50, 84, 162, 165, 177, 194, 214. One of the best 1949 Bowman sets to hit the market, completely fresh and superb, this is the kind of set that whatever it sells for, it will almost not be enough given how hard this is to assemble in this quality. 14 Go to www.cleansweepauctions.com for many additional images. Initial bids must be placed by 6 PM EST Wednesday February 3. 511950Bowman Very-Near Set (243 different) w/all keys Ex-Mt......... 1500 Classic Bowman set, these are so condition sensitive. Collected with special attention to centering, this very well collected set has all of the key cards, with note to many PSA 7s. The set begins with a generally crisp and clean low number run that looks to be at least 70% Ex-Mt or better, the balance almost all a nice Ex. The main series look terrific, about 25% Near Mint or better, 60% Ex-Mt or better, the balance almost all a nice Ex. This is something that you do not very often with this again very condition sensitive issue. The many key cards grade as follows: 1 Mel Parnell RC Ex ctd, 4 Gus Zernial PSA 5, 6 Bob Feller PSA 7, 11 Phil Rizzuto VG-Ex/Ex, 12 Joe Page PSA 2.5, 19 Warren Spahn PSA 5, 21 Pee Wee Reese PSA 5, 22 Jackie Robinson PSA 5, 23 Newcombe RC PSA 5, 32 Robin Roberts PSA 5, 33 Ralph Kiner Ex, 35 Enos Slaughter Ex++, 37 Luke Appling PSA 6, 40 Bob Lemon PSA 6, 46 Yogi Berra PSA 4, 58 Carl Furillo PSA 7, 62 Ted Kluszewski PSA 7.5, 75 Roy Campanella PSA 7, 77 Duke Snider PSA 6, 98 Ted Williams PSA 5, 112 Gil Hodges Ex+, 147 Mike Garcia RC PSA 8, 217 Casey Stengel MG PSA 5, 219 Hank Bauer RC PSA 7, 229 Frank Frisch MG PSA 7 and 252 Billy DeMars RC PSA 5.5. The SMR on just the 21 graded cards is $3,120. The missing card #s are 3, 39, 60, 84, 96, 99, 145, 180, 240. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 52 1951Bowman Very Near-Set (313 different) Ex-Mt/NM........ 1200 One of the most classic of all baseball card sets, offered is a very well collected 1951 Bowman near-set. Our consignor was especially focused on centering, leading to some terrific eye appeal throughout. The SMR on just the 27 graded cards is $2,100. Condition is about 80% Ex-Mt, 20% Near Mint, with a small percentage of weaker cards (some Ex-Mt or Near Mint cards may have extremely minute technical defects that were not of concern to the consignor). The #324 Pramesa Mint 9 came out of this set; it is entirely possible that there could be some buried treasure here as we did not review the commons for grading. These are extremely fresh looking cards overall. The missing card #s (11 total) are 1, 165, 181, 183, 199, 218, 253, 255, 305, 312, 324. Keys and graded cards are as follows: 2 Berra PSA 7, 3 Roberts Ex-Mt, 6 Newcombe PSA 5, 7 Hodges PSA 5, 10 Schoendienst PSA 7, 22 Sauer PSA 7, 26 Rizzuto VG-Ex/Ex, 30 Feller PSA 6, 31 Campanella PSA 3 (clean w/tiny crease), 32 Snider PSA 6, 35 PSA 6, 50 Mize PSA 6, 80 Reese PSA 6, 122 Garagiola RC NM, 126 Thomson PSA 6, 134 Spahn Ex++, 143 Kluszewski Ex-Mt+, 151 Doby PSA 3, 186 Ashburn PSA 7, 198 M Irvin RC NM, 201 PSA 5, 211 PSA 6, 217 Page PSA 6, 219 Woodling RC PSA 6, 232 N Fox RC SGC 7, 245 Berardino RC PSA 6, 254 Jensen RC NM, 260 Erskine RC PSA 6, 261 PSA 4, 262 Zernial PSA 5, 275 B Harris Ex-Mt, 282 Frisch Ex, 284 PSA 7, 290 Dickey PSA 5, 291 Henrich NM, 295 Al Lopez NM, 306 Piersall RC Ex-Mt+, 314 Sain NM, 317 Burgess RC PSA 6 and 323 Adcock RC PSA 4. While this is not a registry set, it would be extremely difficult to assemble a 51 Bowman set even approaching the offered set in quality, these are very nice cards that form an ideal better grade 51 Bowman set if one decides to complete this. As it stands, this very substantial lot offers some serious value and saved time for a collector or dealer. 531951 Topps Blue Back Complete Set NM............ 600 High grade set, we sent 16 cards to PSA, they have an SMR value of $1,150. Condition does vary, some have tiny wrinkles but are otherwise Near Mint. Fresh to market, we did not submit any other cards, there could well be more 8s and 9s within. Better cards are as follows: 1 Yost VG-Ex/Ex, 3 Ashburn NM mk, 4 Ennis PSA 8, 6 Schoendienst PSA 4, 7 Staley PSA 9, 9 Sain PSA 5, 10 Page PSA 8, 13 Vernon PSA 4, 14 Munger PSA 5, 16 Dickson PSA 5, 17 Smalley PSA 9, 20 Branca NM+, 25 Mele PSA 9, 30 Slaughter PSA 8, 37 Doerr PSA 5, 39 Lopat PSA 8, 41 Schmitz PSA 9, 42 Edwards, Bkln PSA 4, 48 Cox, Bkln VG-Ex/Ex, 50 Mize Ex-Mt+ and 51 Waitkus PSA 3. 541951 Topps Red Back Near Set (49 diff.) NM....... 200 Missing only Snider, Rizzuto, Wynn and Feller, this is a super sharp and clean lot. We sent several cards to PSA and received many high grades (the other cards have not been submitted for grading, there could well be more 9s). The 10 graded cards have an SMR of $703. The keys are as follows: Lat31 Berra PSA 6, 6 Reynolds Ex-Mt+, 15 Kiner PSA 3.5, 24 Bauer PSA 9, 26 Easter PSA 9, 31 Hodges NM, 36.1 Zernial (Chicago In bio) PSA 8, 36.2 Zernial (Philadelphia in bio) PSA 5, 38 Snider NM, 39 Kluszewski PSA 8, 40 Garcia PSA 7, 46 Goodman PSA 9, 50 Irvin PSA 8 and 52.2 Holmes (Hartford in bio) Ex. 15 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 551952 Bowman Complete Set Good......... 900 A low grade but not abused set, a pleasing set in Good if there is such a thing. Cards have consistent corner wear and most have creasing but these are not destroyed or abused cards and the backs tend to be clean. The stars cards are very rough, the commons and secondary stars are much, much better, VG to VG-Ex or so; the high numbers are mostly a nice VG. The key cards are as follows: 1 Berra Good, 5 Minoso RC VG, 8 Reese Good, 21 N Fox Good, 43 Feller Good, 44 Campanella Fair-Good, 52 Rizzuto Good, 53 Ashburn Good, 80 Hodges VG-Ex, 101 Mantle Fair-Good, 116 Snider VG-Ex/Ex, 156 Spahn Good, 196 Musial GVG, 217 Stengel Good, 218 Mays Good, 232 Slaughter GVG and 252 Crosetti Good. Well matched low grade example of a classic Bowman set. 561952 Bowman Complete Set -5 NM............. 1500 Gorgeous 52 Bowman set, this is one of the most artistic and visually striking sets of this era. Our consignor worked very hard on these and produced one of the very best sets that we have ever seen. Very well centered overall, especially for this issue, these are beautiful cards. Condition is about 60% Near Mint or better, the balance almost all a high-end Ex-Mt. Collected 10-20 years ago, cards like this just do not come around any more. Please note the SMR on just the 23 graded cards is approximately $3,365. The missing card #s are 94, 112, 218, 244, 252. The key cards are as follows: 1 Berra PSA 6.5, 4 Roberts PSA 5, 5 Minoso RC PSA 7, 8 Reese PSA 6, 21 N Fox PSA 7, 33 McDougald RC Ex-Mt+, 43 Feller Ex-Mt+, 44 Campanella PSA 7, 52 Rizzuto PSA 5, 53 Ashburn PSA 6, 66 Maglie PSA 7, 80 Hodges PSA 5, 101 Mantle PSA 6, 116 Snider PSA 4, 119 PSA 6, 140 PSA 8, 141 PSA 5, 145 Mize PSA 7, 152 Cox PSA 8, 156 Spahn PSA 5, 161 Jensen PSA 6, 168 P Roe PSA 4, 196 Musial PSA 2 (sharp card with slight back wear), 217 Stengel PSA 6, 232 Slaughter PSA 6, 238 McMillan RC NM, 239 Mitchell NM, 240 Loes RC Ex-Mt+ and 241 Parnell Ex-Mt+. A simple project to complete, an exceptional offering that should really please the winning bidder. 16 571952Topps Collection of 229 different Ex-Mt......... 1500 A substantial and high quality collection of 52s, centering was a vital consideration to our consignor, resulting in one of the best centered larger collections of 52 Topps cards one is likely to find. The (49) low numbers are a strong Ex Plus to Ex-Mt overall with only slight variance. The (136) regular series cards look to be at least 80% Ex-Mt or better and especially well chosen, there are some Exs and some Near Mints scattered about as well. The (44) semi-high numbers average a superb Ex-Mt overall, with some Near Mint and some Ex, very fine. Loaded with value, the following better cards are in this collection: 1 Pafko PSA 3, 26 M Irvin Ex+, 29 Kluszewski VG-Ex, 33 Spahn PSA 4.5, 37 Snider Ex++, 48.1 Joe Page Cor Ex-Mt, 53 Van Cuyk Ex-Mt+, 57 Lopat ExMt, 59 Roberts Ex-Mt, 66 Roe VG-Ex/Ex, 76 Stanky Ex++, 81 Law VG-Ex, 91 Schoendienst PSA 6, 99 Woodling Ex, 100 Roce PSA 5.5 centered!, 108 Konstanty PSA 4, 122 Jensen FTC Ex-Mt, 168 Silvera RC Ex, 188 PSA 6, 195 Minoso RC Ex-Mt ctd, 196 Hemus RC Ex-Mt, 200 R Houk RC Ex++, 215 Bauer Ex-Mt, 216 Ashburn PSA 6.5, 219 Shantz Ex-Mt, 227 Garagiola FTC Ex++, 237 Coleman PSA 6, 243 Doby Ex-Mt, 246 Kell VG-Ex/Ex, 250 Erskine FTC Ex-Mt+, 253 Berardino Ex-Mt, 268 Lemon Ex, 272 Garcia Ex-Mt+, 274 Branca Ex-Mt, 277 E Wynn Ex, 281 Brown SP Ex-Mt+, 288 Nichols SP PSA 5, 289 Holmes MG Ex+ Ctd, 295 Cavaretta Ex-Mt+, 299 Murray SP Ex-Mt+, 300 McCoskey SP Ex/Ex+, 310 Metkovich Ex+ Ctd and 324 Hacker PSA 1.5. These were mostly collected pre-grading, when cards like this could be found at shows, in this market, as many well know, such a thing is extremely difficult and challenging to do. We did not go through this lot to pick out potential 7s; we would surprised if there were not several lurking within. Some extremely impressive work was done here, resulting in the kind of clean, exceptionally consistent and well centered 1952 Topps run that will be the envy of many a collector. The breakdown value here is no doubt very substantial for these same reasons. Fresh, fine lot of 52s. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 58 1952Topps Complete Set 1-310 VG w/many nicer........... 1500 Very well collected basic 1952 Topps set, these grade VG overall but have terrific eye appeal. Well centered for the grade, these tend to be VG due to small technical flaws, mild creasing and other smaller issues, these are not hammered or super weak cards, in fact the cards present extremely well for the grade. Loaded with value, the breakdown potential here is large as there are many nicer cards throughout. The low number series is an especially pleasing VG overall with minor variance, much nicer than usually found. The main series cards are closer to VG+ or VG-Ex, with some weak cards, but many cleaner cards. The semi-high numbers vary, VG to VG Plus overall with again some nicer cards. The key cards are as follows: 1 Pafko VG (came out of PSA 3 holder), 2 Runnells RC VG+, 11 Rizzuto GVG, 20 Loes RC SP VG, 26 M Irvin VG, 29 Kluszewski VG+, 33 Spahn VG, 36 Hodges VG, 37 Snider VG, 48.1 Joe Page Cor Good, 49.1 Johnny Sain Cor VG+, 59 Roberts Good, 65 Slaughter GVG, 67 Reynolds VG+, 88 Feller VG-Ex/Ex, 129 Johnny Mize VG, 175 Martin RC VG+, 191 Berra Strong VG+, no creases, 195 Minoso RC Good, 216 Ashburn Good, 261 Mays SGC 3 (well ctd, very nice for grade), 268 Lemon VG, 274 Branca Good and 277 E Wynn Good. A tremendous value, especially considering the quality of the Mays, Pafko and Berra cards, which are almost always totally hammered in these types of lots. 59 1952 Collection of 3 High Numbers ..................... 100 Lower grade lot, these all present much, much better than their technical grades: 346 Spencer PSA 2, 350 Abrams PSA 1 and 358 Kucab PSA 2 mk. Excellent value lot. 601953 Bowman Black White Complete Set w/signed cards VG+............. 375 Mixed but pleasing set has some creased cards and a few cards could benefit from an upgrade, but nonetheless still presents fairly well. This is set is unusual in that there are eight signed cards: 6, 9, 15 Mize, 22, 36 Piersall, 50 Dutch Leonard (D’83), 52 Branca, 56 Smalley. Initial bids must be placed by 6 PM EST Wednesday February 3. 17 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 62 1953 Bowman Color Complete Set Ex but varies........... 1800 Vital set, one of the most popular of the decade. Big star card set, this has many key cards. The offered near-set has a basic complete run of 1-112 that is about 70% Ex or better, with a fair number of Ex-Mt, the balance mixed but not bad at all, mostly VG-Ex. The high number run is not complete (23 total cards) but does have all of the keys (condition VG-Ex overall). A very manageable project to complete and upgrade, the end result should be a fine mid-grade lot. Lots of value here, this is an underrated set. The keys are as follows: 1 Williams VG-Ex/Ex, 9 Rizzuto Ex-Mt, 10 Ashburn VG-Ex/Ex, 18 N Fox Ex++, 32 Musial Ex, 33 Reese PSA 6 oc, 44 Bauer/Berra/Mantle GAI 5, 46 Campy GVG, 59 Mantle PSA 2.5, 65 R Roberts VG-Ex/Ex, 92 Hodges VG+ ctd, 93 Rizzuto/Martin VG+, 97 E Mathews VG-Ex, 99 Spahn PSA 4, 114 Feller PSA 2, 117 Snider Ex (trimmed), 118 B Martin VG-Ex, 121 Berra VG+, 146 E Wynn Good, 153 W Ford PSA 2.5 and 160 C Abrams VG. 64 1953 Topps 5 Cent Display Box VG................ 200 Terrific piece, this is a complete 5 cent display box from the beloved 1953 Topps baseball card set. This is complete with all flaps, there are no tears and just one separation. Creasing is present but not bad at all, and there is some general wear and toning. This is a more than presentable VG overall, and will add some real character to any room with vintage cards. It is amazing that these little treasures even surface after so many years! 65 1953 Topps Collection of 159 w/Robinson & Paige Good............ 200 Lower grade but eminently collectible lot, these have honest wear and creases but generally no abuse or damage (there are naturally some very rough cards within the lot). Substantial lot has several HOFers, including two of the key cards, and 14 high numbers. The backs are clean, condition is otherwise fairly consistent. There is mild duplication. Better cards include: 1 J Robinson, 27 Campanella, 37 Mathews, 41 Slaughter, 54 Feller, 61 Wynn (2), 62 Irvin, 72 Hutchinson, 77 Mize, 104 Berra, 114 Rizzuto, 220 Paige (trimmed) and 254 Roe. 18 631953 Bowman Color Complete Set Ex-Mt......... 2000 Revered set, among the most popular and unique baseball card sets ever produced. Notorious for centering issues, this is one of the best overall centered sets a collector is likely to find. Our consignor worked very hard on these and did some solid work here. Condition looks to be a very consistent 80% Ex-Mt or better, perhaps 20% Near Mint, with hardly any noticeably weaker cards (some cards may have crisp corners and a very minute technical defect). The high numbers are a shade below the rest of the set, but also a strong Ex-Mt overall. The SMR on just the 27 graded cards is $4,205. The key cards grade as follows: 1 Williams Ex-Mt+, 3 PSA 7, 9 Rizzuto PSA 4 (looks much nicer), 10 Ashburn Ex-Mt, 18 N Fox SGC 7, 19 Alvin Dark PSA 7, 26 PSA 7, 32 Musial PSA 5, 33 Reese PSA 4 (also looks nicer), 35 PSA 7, 40 Doby PSA 6, 44 Bauer/Berra/Mantle PSA 5, 46 Campy PSA 5, 48 Sauer PSA 6, 53 PSA 7, 59 Mantle PSA 6, 63 McDougald PSA 7, 65 R Roberts Ex+, 92 Hodges Ex-Mt+ ctd, 93 Rizzuto/Martin Ex+, 97 E Mathews PSA 4 (well ctd w/tiny corner crease), 99 Spahn PSA 3 (ctd, tough grade), 101 Schoendienst PSA 7, 107 PSA 7, 109 PSA 7, 114 Feller PSA 3.5, 115 SGC 5.5, 117 Snider PSA 5.5, 118 B Martin PSA 5, 121 Berra PSA 4 (ctd), 137 PSA 6, 143 Lopez , 146 E Wynn VG-Ex/Ex cd, 151 Adcock Ex, 153 W Ford , 154 PSA 7 and 160 C Abrams Ex-Mt. Loaded set, among the best one is ever likely to see without getting into a registry set; an exceptional and beautiful set of 53 Bowman Color overall. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 661953 Topps Near-Set (244 different) w/51 high numbers - INCREDIBLE QUALITY NM.... 2000 One of the most beautiful sets ever produced by Topps, these were all created from original Dvorak artworks. Often found in very weak condition due to the color borders, high grade examples of these cards are truly special just to look at. The offered cards are completely fresh to the market; in fact many of these were purchased by our consignor from me over 20 years ago at the then astronomical price of 175% of Beckett as these were so fine. This is the kind of lot that you just cannot find any more in this age of slabbing and these cards are amazing overall. We sent many into PSA and received what we honestly felt were some very tough grades here. This is the type of collection that almost whatever price it brings at auction, it is not enough, these cards are that nice, and that hard to even think about replacing. The SMR on the 56 graded cards is $3,950 and the SMR on 53s in 6s and higher is super low in our opinion. The ungraded cards are simply awesome, the regular series cards are remarkably well centered and clean, about 80% Near Mint or better to our eye, the rest almost all a strong Ex-Mt (some stray cards can have minute technical defects but are otherwise sharp). The vital high number run is also terrific, 7075% Near Mint or better to our eye. Please note a 9, several 8.5s and many 8s came out of this set, we would be shocked if there were not more here. The key and graded cards are as follows: 18 PSA 7.5, 20 PSA 7, 25 Boone PSA 6, 29 PSA 7, 31 Blackwell PSA 7, 35 Noren PSA 6.5, 41 Slaughter PSA 7, 46 PSA 5, 49 PSA 7, 50 Dressen PSA 7.5, 61 Wynn PSA 6, 62 Irvin PSA 6, 63 PSA 7, 72 Hutchinson PSA 6, 75 PSA 7, 79 PSA 5, 83 PSA 5, 84 PSA 7, 85 Morgan PSA 7, 86 Martin PSA 6, 87 Lopat PSA 7, 96 PSA 7, 104 Berra PSA 6.5, 114 Rizzuto PSA 5.5, 132 PSA 5, 135 Rosen PSA 7, 138 Kell PSA 7, 139 PSA 7, 145 PSA 4.5, 147 Spahn PSA 4.5, 149 DiMaggio PSA 5, 150 PSA 6, 151 Wilhelm PSA 7, 152 PSA 5, 157 PSA 7, 166 PSA 7, 169 Trout PSA 6, 176 Hoak RC PSA 6, 181 PSA 6, 183 Miller RC PSA 5, 190 PSA 6, 192 PSA 7, 196 PSA 7, 204 PSA 7.5, 207 Ford PSA 5 (very tough grade), 213 PSA 6.5, 215 Conley PSA 6, 220 Paige PSA 5.5, 225 Shantz NM, 228 Newhouser NM, 239 PSA 7, 242 Silvera NM, 254 Roe PSA 6, 258 Gilliam PSA 6, 263 Podres PSA 4 (slight wear left border, looks much nicer), 264 Woodling PSA 6, 265 Jensen PSA 6, 270 Stephens NM, 273 Haddix RC PSA 5 and 279 PSA 7. A real high-point of this amazing collection, if you are even THINKING ABOUT building a high quality 53 Topps set, you really want this lot. Lets start these off at just half the SMR on the graded cards and see what happens. 671954 Bowman Complete Set -2 + Many Variations NM............. 1000 The SMR on just the 40 graded cards is approximately $1,500. The missing card #s are just 65 & 154. Underrated set, condition is 65-70% Near Mint or better here, the balance almost all a high-end Ex-Mt (with note to excellent centering overall). There are almost certainly more 7s and 8s here, these are seriously clean and fine cards. Please note that there are 259 total cards in the lot. 681954 Johnston CookiesComplete Set VG-Ex....... 350 Classic regional, notable for a Hank Aaron Rookie Card. Pleasing VG-Ex set, we sent the four keys to PSA and they came back as follows: Aaron 4, Spahn 5, Mathews 4.5 and Thomson 4. The remaining cards are about half VG to VG Plus, half VG-Ex. Problem free mid-grade set anchored by a very attractive and undervalued Hank Aaron Rookie Card. 19 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 691954 Topps Complete Set -7 Ex-Mt/NM........ 1400 Elusive set, these are usually found in VG-Ex. Offered is a fine Ex-Mt set, with many higher grade, including some PSA 8 commons (there could well be more). These are well centered and superb cards, the commons and minor stars look 75% or more Near Mint to us, the balance almost all a high-end Ex-Mt (some may again have minute technical flaws but otherwise be sharp). A great value, this is missing only card #s 1, 54, 70, 77, 84, 198, 201. The key and graded cards are as follows: 5 Lopat PSA 7, 10 Robinson PSA 6, 13 Martin Ex+, 17 Rizzuto PSA 6, 20 Spahn PSA 5.5, 25 Kuenn RC PSA 6, 30 Mathews Ex++, 32 Snider PSA 6, 36 Wilhelm PSA 7, 37 Ford PSA 6, 40 PSA 7, 45 Ashburn PSA 5, 50 Berra PSA 5, 64 SGC 6, 90 Mays SGC 5, 92 PSA 7, 94 Banks RC PSA 6, 102 Hodges Ex++, 128 Aaron RC PSA 4 (looks much nicer), 132 Lasorda RC PSA 5.5, 187 Manush CO PSA 7, 194 PSA 8, 196 SGC 6, 205 Sain PSA 7, 212 PSA 8, 221 PSA 7, 223 PSA 8, 231 PSA 7, 239 Skowron RC PSA 5.5 and 250 Williams PSA 5. The SMR on just the 27 graded cards is $4,001 (with note to the very low Banks in a 6 at $750 and Robinson in a 6 at $250). Terrific collection, these are very, very fine overall and look terrific. Collected 10-20 years ago by our consignor; as with his other sets, cards like this just do not come around anymore. 20 701955 Bowman Complete Set Ex-Mt/NM...... 1200 One of my personal favorites, I love the unique player selection and run of umpires in the undervalued high number run. Attractive design, these are very nice looking cards when found in quality condition. The offered lot was carefully and patiently assembled card-by-card, these are strikingly clean cards overall. Exceptionally well centered, this is as good as it gets for this issue. The basic series appears to be close to 80% Near Mint or better to our eye, loaded with gorgeous commons and minor stars, virtually everything is a strong Ex-Mt or better. The high numbers are strong as well, a half grade below the rest of the set but still quite nice overall. PSA was tough as usual with these, the key cards are as follows: 1 Wilhelm PSA 7, 10 Rizzuto PSA 6, 22 Campanella PSA 4.5, 23 Kaline PSA 6.5, 29 Schoendienst PSA 8, 37 Reese PSA 5, 38 Wynn PSA 5, 59 Ford PSA 5, 68 Howard RC Ex++, 103 Mathews PSA 5, 134 Feller PSA 6, 158 Hodges PSA 7, 168 Berra PSA 6, 179 Aaron PSA 6, 184 Mays PSA 4, 197 Kiner PSA 7, 202 Mantle PSA 6, 242 Banks PSA 6, 246 Bauer PSA 7, 265 Barlick RC NM, 267 Honochick RC Ex+, 283 Chylak Ex-Mt+, 303 Conlan RC VG-Ex/Ex and 315 Hubbard PSA 6. Very fine set. 711955Bowman Complete Set w/40 graded cards Ex-Mt......... 1300 Very nice set, these are about 70% Ex-Mt or better, the balance mostly a strong Ex or Ex Plus. The high numbers are a touch below but also more than clean. Loaded set, one of my personal favorites, it has been nice to see these bring the strong prices they have in our last several major auctions. A tremendous value with the many umpires, high numbers and HOFers, dealers can do very well breaking these up. The SMR on just the 40 graded cards is about $1,760. The many key cards grade as follows: 1 Wilhelm PSA 4, 9 McDougald PSA 6, 10 Rizzuto PSA 6, 22 Campanella PSA 4, 23 Kaline PSA 6, 25 Minoso PSA 6, 37 Reese Ex, 46 Vernon PSA 7, 59 Ford PSA 7, 68 Howard RC Ex-Mt+, 103 Mathews NM, 109 PSA 7, 124 Antonelli PSA 6, 134 Feller Ex++ (mc on back), 154 Lary RC PSA 6, 160 Skowron PSA 6, 168 Berra PSA 6, 179 Aaron PSA 6, 184 Mays Ex++, 202 Mantle PSA 4, 226 PSA 6, 242 Banks PSA 5.5, 265 Barlick RC PSA 6, 267 Honochick RC PSA 6.5, 283 Chylak Ex-Mt, 291 PSA 6, 293 Gorman SGC 6, 301 PSA 6, 303 Conlan RC Ex and 315 Hubbard PSA 6. Solid better grade 55 Bowman set. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 71.2 1955 Topps Very Near-Set (196 different) w/Koufax PSA 6 Ex-Mt/NM.............. 1400 Very near-set of 1955 Topps cards, presented in very high quality. There are 43 graded cards in the lot, the SMR on just these cards is approximately $3,700. There are 44 high numbers. Centering varies somewhat, these look to be a strong Near Mint overall, perhaps 80%, with many Nm-Mt cards, these are some very sharp and fine looking cards. Overall a very fine collection of 1955 Topps cards. 72 1956 Topps Complete Set VG................ 900 Eminently affordable 56 set, this is lower grade but not abused. A pleasing presentation overall, a handful of cards could be upgraded. This is the kind of set where the commons and secondary stars are a full grade or more better than the key cards, perhaps 50-60% VG to VG-Ex, with some very clean cards at the back end of the set. There is nothing terrible here, and the cards have a fairly consistent look and feel. The key cards are as follows: 1 Harridge RC GVG, 5 Williams Fair-Good, 20 Kaline VG+, 30 J Robinson GVG, 31 Aaron GVG, 33 Clemente VG+, 79 Koufax VG, 101 Roy Campanella VG, 110 Berra VG+, 113 Rizzuto Ex, 130 Mays Good mk, 135 Mantle Good, 150 Snider Ex, 166 Dodgers TC Good, 200 Feller VG, 240 Ford GVG, 251 Yankees TC Fair, 260 Pee Wee Reese GVG and 292 Aparicio RC VG-Ex/Ex. 72.2 1956Topps Complete Set w/Mantle SGC 7.5 NM............. 2500 Terrific 56 set, these are fresh to the market, mostly collected 10-20 years ago. The ungraded cards are a very consistent and well centered Near Mint overall; condition is about 75% Near Mint or better, with some Nm-Mt cards, possibly many; the balance is almost all a very strong Ex-Mt or Ex-Mt Plus. The many key and graded cards are as follows: 1 Harridge RC PSA 6, 2 Giles RC PSA 7, 5 Williams PSA 5, 8 Alston PSA 7, 10 Spahn PSA 7, 11 Cubs TC PSA 5, 15 Banks PSA 5, 17 PSA 8, 20 Kaline PSA 6, 30 J Robinson PSA 5, 31 Aaron SGC 7, 33 Clemente PSA 7, 54 PSA 8, 56 PSA 7, 63 Craig RC PSA 7.5, 72.2 Phillies TC Dated ‘55 PSA 5, 78 PSA 7, 79 Koufax PSA 5, 90.3 Reds TC Ctd PSA 6, 95.2 Braves Team Dated 55’ PSA 5, 95.2 Braves TC Ctd PSA 7, 95.3 Braves Team Left PSA 5, 99 Zimmer PSA 2.5, 100.2 Orioles Team Dated PSA 7, 101 Roy Campanella PSA 6, 107 Mathews PSA 5, 110 Berra PSA 7, 113 Rizzuto PSA 5, 121 Pirates TC PSA 7, 130 Mays PSA 4.5, 135 Mantle SGC 7.5, 150 Snider PSA 5.5, 166 Dodgers TC PSA 7, 187 E Wynn PSA 5, 188 White Sox TC PSA 6, 200 Feller PSA 6, 203 PSA 8, 226 Giants TC PSA 5, 233 Erskine PSA 7, 235 Newcombe PSA 7, 240 Ford PSA 6, 250 Doby PSA 4.5, 251 Yankees TC PSA 6, 260 Pee Wee Reese PSA 6.5, 265 PSA 5, 281 PSA 7, 292 Aparicio RC PSA 7, 299 Neal PSA 5, 307 Wilhelm PSA 5, 310 PSA 8, Checklist 1/3 PSA 5 and Checklist 2/4 PSA 4.5. 21 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 73 1957 - 60 Topps Collection of 662 cards w/many stars VG but varies.............. 150 Original collector lot, shoebox collection, these range from Poor to Ex Plus, mainly VG, VG-Ex and Ex but again with big variance. Lots of value here for a collector or a dealer. 74 1957 Topps Complete Set Ex-Mt/NM........ 1200 One of the most popular of all baseball card sets from the 1950s, the 57 issue is a true classic. Very well collected by our consignor, this is an extremely well assembled set. PSA hit him hard on some fine cards with invisible wrinkles and such, but the winning bidder should really enjoy this set. Exceptionally well centered, the commons and secondary stars look to approach 80% Near Mint or better, with many superb cards; the balance is almost invariably a high-end Ex-Mt, this set does not really anything done to it. Loaded with big names, these are always so popular for good reason. The key cards grade as follows: 1 Williams PSA 4 (crisp and clean, must be hidden wrinkle), 2 Berra PSA 5, 10 Mays PSA 6, 18 Drysdale RC PSA 6, 20 Aaron PSA 6, 25 Ford Ex++, 29 Herzog PSA 7, 30 Reese PSA 7, 35 F Robby RC SGC 7.5, 40 Wynn PSA 6, 62 Martin PSA 6, 76 Clemente PSA 5, 82 E. Also please note the commons and secondary stars were not picked for grading, there could well be some gems here! 22 751957 Topps Complete Set (all PSA graded)......... 3000 Classic and beloved Topps set by so many collectors, this is a fine looking set with no cards below a PSA 6. By grade, the breakdown is as follows: PSA 6 (215), PSA 6.5 (9), PSA 7 (157), PSA 7.5 (1), PSA 8 (2), PSA 7Q (8), PSA 8Q (14) and PSA 9Q (1). These grades offer tremendous values in this market as the PSA 6 SMR is just so low on many of these cards (Brooks Robinson RC $240, Koufax $215, Bunning $65, Richardson $85, Kubek $40, Mantle $525 etc). We believe the SMR on the entire set to be $10,318. Smartly collected, these are nice cards with good eye appeal, they are neatly presented in 5 long white boxes, nothing too crazy large or heavy. A full listing of every card will be on our website, the key cards grade as follows: 1 Williams PSA 6, 2 Berra PSA 6, 7 Aparicio PSA 6, 10 Mays PSA 6, 15 Roberts PSA 6, 18 Drysdale RC PSA 6, 20 Aaron PSA 6, 24 Maz RC PSA 6, 25 Ford PSA 6, 30 Reese PSA 6, 35 F Robby RC PSA 6, 38 Fox PSA 7, 55 Banks PSA 7, 62 Martin PSA 7, 70 Ashburn PSA 7, 76 Clemente PSA 6, 80 Hodges PSA 6, 90 Spahn PSA 6, 95 Mantle PSA 6, 97 Yanks TC PSA 7, 125 Kaline PSA 6, 165 Klu PSA 6, 170 Snider PSA 6, 210 Campanella PSA 7, 212 Colavito RC PSA 8, 250 Mathews PSA 6, 252 Erskine PSA 7, 286 Richardson RC PSA 6, 302 Koufax PSA 6, 312 Kubek RC PSA 6, 317 NY Giants TC PSA 6, 322 Cin Reds TC PSA 6, 324 Dodgers TC PSA 6, 328 B Robby RC PSA 6, 338 Bunning RC PSA 6, 400 Dodgers Sluggers PSA 6 and 407 Berra/Mantle PSA 6. A clean and well collected 1957 Topps set, this should find a happy home in the hands of a collector who wants to save countless hours and dollars versus assembling something like this card-by-card. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 761958 Topps Complete Set -1 NM............. 1600 Missing the Maris (it is being offered as a separate lot), this is a superb looking 58 set. Very condition sensitive issue, these are among the nicest Topps cards when they can be found in top quality. Our consignor was a stickler for centering, resulting in an extremely attractive set to peruse. Condition is simply a terrific, a stellar Near Mint or better set with only a small percentage of weaker cards (they tend to be sharp but may have minute technical defects). Bursting with value, this has a huge breakdown value. There are 40 graded cards, as follows (SMR approximately $4,150): 1 Williams PSA 7, 2.1 Lemon PSA 6, 5 Mays PSA 7, 25 Drysdale PSA 4, 30.1 Aaron PSA 5, 43 Sal Maglie PSA 7, 52.1 Bob Clemente PSA 4 (crisp w/spot on back), 70.1 Al Kaline PSA 6, 100.1 E Wynn PSA 7, 150 Mantle PSA 7, 161 Larsen PSA 8, 187 Koufax PSA 6, 190 Schoendienst PSA 5, 198 PSA 7, 206 PSA 7, 238 Maz PSA 8, 243 PSA 7, 246 Yanks TC PSA 8 st, 285 F Robby PSA 4, 296 Ryne Duren RC PSA 7 st, 307 B Robby PSA 6.5, 310 Banks PSA 7.5, 320 Ford PSA 7, 321 Klu/Williams PSA 7, 370 Berra PSA 7 st, 375 Reese PSA 8, 377.2 Braves Team Numerical PSA 6, 393 Kubek PSA 7, 400 N Fox PSA 4, 408.2 Orioles Team Numerical PSA 4, 418 Mantle/Aaron PSA 6, 420 Pinson RC PSA 7, 428.1 Reds Team Alphabetical PSA 8, 428.2 Reds Team Numerical PSA 6, 436 Mays/Snider PSA 7, 440 Mathews PSA 6, 484 F Robby AS PSA 7, 485 Williams AS SGC 7.5, 486 Mays AS PSA 6 and 487 Mantle AS PSA 7. This is among the very finest ungraded 1958 Topps Near Mint sets one will ever see, fresh to market, collected 10-20 years ago, and there are almost surely 8s and possibly 9s that we missed. In this market, sets like this are almost impossible to find due to slabbing and are this undervalued. Absolutely ideal and superb 58 set, one of the best to hit the market in some time. 771958 Topps Complete Set (all PSA graded)......... 3000 Tough project, this larger 1950s sets takes over six long boxes. All are clean and well presented, this will save so much money and time versus trying to buy these one-by-one. No card is below a 6, by grade the set is as follows: PSA 6 (186), PSA 7 (250), PSA 8 (14) and PSA 8 Q (45). Offering one of the best values of all 1950s sets, this set is loaded with key stars, Rookie Cards, secondary stars and has a popular low number run that can be condition sensitive and a fun selection of All Stars to conclude the set. These are clean cards, nicely collected, offering a tremendous value as the SMR always seems to be so low on Ex-Mt 6s (ie, Roger Maris lists for $245 in a 6, Koufax $130, Mantle $465). The key cards are as follows: (an exact listing will be on our web site): 1 Williams PSA 6, 2.1 Lemon PSA 6, 5 Mays PSA 6, 19 Giants TC PSA 6, 25 Drysdale PSA 7, 30.1 Aaron PSA 6, 40 Kell PSA 8, 47 Maris RC PSA 6, 52.1 Bob Clemente PSA 6, 70.1 Al Kaline PSA 6, 71 Dodgers TC PSA 6, 85.1 Aparicio PSA 6, 88 Snider PSA 6, 150 Mantle PSA 6, 162 Hodges PSA 7, 187 Koufax PSA 6, 238 Maz PSA 7, 246 Yanks TC PSA 6, 270 Spahn PSA 6, 271 B Martin PSA 6, 285 F Robby PSA 6, 288 Killebrew PSA 6, 307 B Robby PSA 6, 310 Banks PSA 6, 321 Klu/Williams PSA 6, 343 Cepeda RC PSA 7, 370 Berra PSA 6, 418 Mantle/Aaron PSA 6, 420 Pinson RC PSA 6, 424 Doby PSA 7, 436 Mays/Snider PSA 6, 440 Mathews PSA 6, 464 C Flood RC PSA 7, 476 Musial AS PSA 7, 482 Banks AS PSA 7, 485 Williams AS PSA 6, 486 Mays AS PSA 6, 487 Mantle AS PSA 6, 488 Aaron AS PSA 6 and 494 Spahn AS PSA 7. We believe the SMR is $10,202 (we counted qualifers two grades lower). 23 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 781959 Fleer Uncut Sheet w/rare #68 Ted Signs Ex................. 300 Pleasing full sheet, these have great color and no back damage. The key #68 card has some fine creasing but otherwise looks terrific. Several of the cards, including the key #2 with Babe Ruth have no creasing or wrinkles and look terrific. Very attractive and substantial piece is begging to be framed. 791959Topps Complete Set w/270 Graded Cards & Variations ........... 1300 Mixed lot of 59s, highlighted by a huge number of PSA graded cards. By grade, the counts are as follows: PSA 8 (10), PSA 7 (34), PSA 6.5 (10), PSA 6 (83), PSA 5.5 (7), PSA 5 (60), PSA 4.5 (6), PSA 4 (37) and PSA 3 (8) and balance with qualifiers etc (14). We believe the SMR to be approximately $3,846. This set includes all of the variations, which is very unusual and provides for some real catalog value. The ungraded cards are in some ways nicer than the graded cards, close to Ex-Mt overall. The key cards grade as follows: 10 Mantle PSA 3, 40.2 Warren Spahn ERR PSA 4, 50 Mays PSA 4, 150 Musial PSA 3, 163 Koufax PSA 3, 202 Maris PSA 3, 317 Ashburn/Mays PSA 8, 380 Aaron PSA 3, 420 Colavito PSA 7, 461 Mickey Mantle HR PSA 4, 470 Musial 3000th PSA 7, 478 Clemente PSA 6, 509 Cash RC PSA 7, 510 Yankees TC PSA 6, 514 Bob Gibson PSA 6, 515 Harmon Killebrew PSA 5.5, 543 Trio/Clemente PSA 4, 550 Campanella PSA 2.5, 559 Banks AS PSA 7, 561 Aaron AS PSA 4, 563 Mays AS PSA 5 and 564 Mantle AS PSA 3. A full listing of every graded cards will be on our web site. 24 801959 Topps Complete Set -1 NM to Nm-Mt...... 2000 Fine set looks terrific, fresh to market as with most of the others in this auction. A blazer to our eyes, these look to be 50% or more Nm-Mt, the balance almost all a very high-end Ex-Mt. The Bob Gibson RC came back an 8 and is being offered as a separate lot. There are 104 cards that are slabbed, the SMR on these is $5,336. A full listing of all the graded cards will be on our web site. The key cards are as follows: 1 Frick RC PSA 7, 8 Phillies Team PSA 7, 10 Mantle SGC 6 (well ctd), 20 Snider PSA 8, 28 PSA 8.5, 30 Fox PSA 7, 34 Kaline/Maxwell PSA 8, 50 Mays PSA 5 (very tough grade), 150 Musial Ex-Mt, 163 Koufax SGC 7, 166 Minoso/Colavito/ Doby PSA 7.5, 180 Berra PSA 5, 202 Maris PSA 5, 213 PSA 9, 235 PSA 9, 257 Wagner RC PSA 8, 260 Wynn PSA 8, 270 Hodges PSA 8, 285 PSA 9, 300 Ashburn PSA 7, 350 Banks PSA 6, 360 Kaline PSA 6, 380 Aaron Ex-Mt, 387 Drysdale PSA 7, 390 Cepeda PSA 7, 430 Ford PSA 6, 439 B. Please note the various back variations (316, 322, 331) are included with the lot. One of the most collected sets of its era, dealers love these with the many star cards, special and high numbers, making a higher grade 59 set a simply tremendous value. Fine set is completely new to the market, there could easily be some condition rarities hiding within this exceptionally fine, well centered and sharp set. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 811960 Leaf Complete Set Ex+............... 400 Underrated set has a big breakdown value due to its huge high number run. Respectable set is interesting as the high numbers are much nicer than the low numbers. Some very simple and inexpensive upgrading could benefit this set, but it still presents a huge value as offered. The condition of the high numbers is about 80%+ Ex-Mt or better, 30-40%+ Near Mint, the balance varies but is mainly Ex or Ex Plus. The inconsequential low number run is about VG-Ex/Ex overall with many nicer cards. The key cards are as follows: 27 B. Robby VG+, 37 Snider Ex-Mt, 75 Culp RC VG-Ex/Ex, 94 Two Hal Smiths NM, 115 Tanner Ex-Mt+, 125 Anderson NM, 128 Cepeda NM, 141 Flood NM and 144 Bunning Ex++. The high number cards list for $25 each, and there are 77 of them as a note. 821960 Topps Complete Set Ex-Mt......... 1000 Nice 60 set is about half Ex-Mt, the other half almost all Ex or better, nothing beat up here, but this has some of the typical centering issues with 1960 Topps. The high numbers are very strong, close to 75% Ex-Mt or better, with some Near Mint, providing for some serious breakdown value. The key cards are as follows: 148 Yaz RC PSA 6, 160 Mantle/Boyer PSA 6, 200 Mays Ex++, 250 Musial Ex+, 300 Aaron VG-Ex/ Ex, 316 McCovey RC Ex++, 326 Clemente Ex-Mt, 332 Yankees TC NM, 343 Koufax Ex-Mt+, 350 Mantle PSA 6, 377 Maris Ex-Mt, 480 Berra VG-Ex/Ex, 563 Mantle AS PSA 6, 564 Mays AS PSA 7, 565 Maris AS PSA 5 and 566 Aaron AS Ex++. Solid 60 set is anchored by two clean PSA 6 Mantles and a PSA 6 Yaz, something you do not see every day. 831960 Topps Complete Set w/107 graded cards NM to Nm-Mt.................. 1500 Another gorgeous Near Mint and better set, this one is especially fine. Loaded with beautiful cards, there are 107 PSA-graded cards, with an approximate SMR of $3,782. These are well represented cards, some with tough grades in our biased opinion. The set is well centered and super sharp, 90-95% Near Mint or better to our eyes, and at least 30% or more Nm-Mt or better - these are some superb cards, with note to a very clean high number run. It is very possible we missed some common conditions gems as there were so many fine cards in this extremely well collected set. A full listing of the graded cards will be on our web site. The many key cards are as follows: 10 Banks PSA 7, 35 Ford PSA 5, 50 Kaline PSA 8 st, 55 Maz PSA 8, 61 PSA 8.5, 132 F Howard RC PSA 7, 136 Kaat RC PSA 7, 148 Yaz RC PSA 7, 160 Mantle/Boyer PSA 6, 184 PSA 9, 200 Mays Ex++, 210 Killebrew PSA 6, 227 Stengel PSA 8, 240 Aparicio PSA 8, 250 Musial PSA 7, 275 Flood PSA 9, 295 Hodges PSA 7, 300 Aaron PSA 6, 316 McCovey RC PSA 5, 326 Clemente PSA 9 oc (not badly centered at all, an odd grade), 332 Yankees TC Ex-Mt+, 343 Koufax NM, 350 Mantle PSA 5 (beautifully centered, we feel this should have been a 6), 377 Maris PSA 4, 395 Wilhelm PSA 8, 409 PSA 9, 420 Mathews PSA 7, 465 Dickey PSA 8, 475 Drysdale PSA 9 oc, 480 Berra PSA 7, 484 Pirates TC PSA 7, 490 F Robinson PSA 7 st, 493 Snider PSA 7, 513 Cubs TC PSA 8, 541 PSA 8, 554 McCovey AS PSA 6, 559 Aparicio AS PSA 8, 560 Banks AS PSA 6, 561 Kaline AS Ex-Mt, 563 Mantle AS PSA 8 oc, 564 Mays AS PSA 6, 565 Maris AS PSA 6, 566 Aaron AS PSA 8. As with the other sets in the collection, this is a superb Near Mint or better set that is completely fresh to market, a quality of set that hardly ever comes to market due to slabbing, these are some great looking cards. 841961 Topps Collection of 577 w/many stars VG to VG-Ex but varies..... 200 Original shoebox collection of 1961 Topps cards, these vary extensively in grade from Poor to Ex, but are mostly VG or VG-Ex. Collected very carefully, this is an exceptionally well centered and beautiful 61 set. Many of these cards appear to be from vending. These were collected 10-20 years ago and are fresh to the market. Checking in at a full 200 cards, this is the kind of set where it is likely loaded with $50-$100 and higher commons and minor stars needed by advanced team collectors. Condition is a very nice Ex Plus to Ex-Mt overall, this was clearly a very carefully collected set by a collector with a good eye. With that said, 10-15% of the backs show some wear and some of the secondary single-prints could benefit from an upgrade. The key cards are as follows: 5.2 Mickey Mantle (163 hits; first line of bio ends: 4th time in) Ex-Mt, 6.1 Roger Maris (first line of french bio has large p in pour les circuits.) Measuring 4x5, these are presented in alphabetical order neatly on four-pocket sheets. The books opens with a 1962 team issue set (22 different) that we believe is only missing Ashburn. One of the most complete runs in the hobby of these photos, condition is clean overall. A charming tour of Mets history, with Stengel (3), Hodges (4), Ruffing, Snider, Spahn, Kranepool (7), Ken Boyer, Choo Choo Coleman, Seaver (6), Ryan (2), Cleon Jones (6), Berra (5), Foy, Frisella (2), Mays (2), McGraw (4), Kingman (3) and Torre (4). Neat and underrated set looks terrific. 931963 Topps Complete Set NM............. 1600 Sharp and fine set includes seven additional variations. Beloved by dealers with its huge breakdown value, this is among the most popular sets of the 1960s. A very attractive design and with great stars and Rookies, this is a very fine looking set. Condition is strikingly clean, about 90% Near Mint or better to our eye. This set is especially nice as it is one of the very best centered 63 Topps sets that we have ever seen. We sent a bunch of cards to PSA (possibly not the right ones, as there may well be some hidden treasure here) and got back some tough grades. There will be a full listing on our web site, but the SMR on just the 57 graded cards is approximately $4,031. The fine run of key cards grades as follows: 18 Clemente Special PSA 7, 120 Maris PSA 7, 138 Mays/Musial PSA 7, 173 Best/Mantle PSA 6, 200 Mantle SGC 7.5, 210 Koufax PSA 6.5, 228 Oliva/Kranepool RC PSA 7, 242 Banks/Aaron PSA 6, 250 Musial PSA 7, 300 Mays PSA 5, 320 Spahn PSA 7, 340 Berra PSA 7, 345 B Robinson PSA 8, 360 Drysdale PSA 7, 361 Boyer SGC 8, 375 Boyer PSA 8, 380 Banks Strong Ex-Mt+, 390 Aaron PSA 7, 398 Powell PSA 8, 400 F Robinson PSA 7, 412 Podres/Drys/Koufax PSA 7, 415 Gibson PSA 7, 420 Richardson PSA 8, 440 Marichal PSA 8, 446 Ford PSA 7, 566 Freehan RC PSA 8, 470 Tresh SP NM, 472 Brock Strong Ex-Mt+, 473 Mets Team NM, 490 McCovey PSA 6, 500 Killebrew SP PSA 6, 520 Cepeda PSA 8, 524 Cardinals Team PSA 8, 537 Rose RC PSA 6, 540 Clemente PSA 6, 544 Staub RC PSA 8, 550 Snider NM and 553 Stargell RC Ex-Mt. Condition is VG-Ex overall but ranges from VG to Ex-Mt, far from terrible. In addition to the listed stars, there is a wide variety of secondary stars. Duplication is not excessive, 66 and 67 are the deepest years in this run. Better cards include: 63 Topps: 3 Mays/Aaron/Banks LL, 4 Kill/ Maris/Colav LL, 18 Clemente Special (2), 25 Kaline, 115 Yaz (2); 64 Topps: 1 Koufax LL, 8 Yaz LL, 9 Aaron/Mays LL, 11 Aaron LL, 21 Berra, 29 Brock, 35 E Mathews, 55 Banks, 150 Mays, 155 Snider, 177 Killebrew, 210 Yastrezemski, 225 Maris, 287 Conigliaro RC, 342 Stargell; 65 Topps: 16 Morgan RC, 155 Maris, 160 Clemente (2), 170 Aaron (2), 207 Rose, 250 Mays, 330 Ford, 350 Mantle, 470 Berra, 500 Mathews, 510 Banks, 526 Hunter RC); 66 Topps: 1 Mays, 30 Rose (3), 36 Hunter, 50 Mantle (2), 70 Yastrzemski, 100 Koufax, 120 Killebrew, 255 Stargell, 300 Clemente (2), 310 Robinson, 320 Gibson, 365 Maris, 390 B. Lot 96 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 95 1964 Topps Complete Set NM to Nm-Mt.......... 1500 Clean set is extremely fine, 40-50% Nm-Mt or better to our eye, the balance almost all Near Mint. The SMR on just the 31 graded cards is $1,711 (which values the key Curt Flood 8.5 as a common). It is very possible that this fresh set that was collected 10-20 years ago could have some condition scarcities. The key cards grade as follows: 21 Berra NM, 29 Brock PSA 8 pd, 50 Mantle SGC 7, 55 Banks PSA 6, 81 Fox PSA 7, 89 Powell PSA 7, 103 Curt Flood PSA 8.5, 125 Rose PSA 6, 150 Mays PSA 7, 200 Koufax PSA 5 (tough grade), 210 Yastrzemski NM+, 225 Maris NM, 230 B Robby NM, 250 Kaline Ex-Mt+, 260 F Robby NM, 287 Conigliaro RC PSA 8, 300 Aaron Ex+, 306 Mays/Cepeda NM, 316 PSA 9, 325 PSA 8, 329 PSA 8, 330 PSA 8, 331 Mantle/Maris Et Al NM, 342 Stargell PSA 6, 345 PSA 6.5, 380 Ford NM+, 400 Spahn NM, 423 Aaron/Mays PSA 8, 433 Yanks TC NM+, 434 PSA 8, 440 Clemente SGC 7, 460 Gibson PSA 7, 468 G Perry NM, 482 PSA 8, 497 PSA 7, 512 W Horton RC PSA 8, 531 Dodgers TC PSA 6, 538 Minoso PSA 8, 540 Aparicio NM, 541 Niekro RC NM, 543 Uecker PSA 8, 544 PSA 8, 550 Ken Hubbs NM, 564 PSA 5, 567 Kaat SGC 7, 570 Mazeroski NM, 580 PSA 6 and 586 Piersall PSA 7. 96 1965 Topps Complete Set Ex-Mt+....... 1000 Very solid and consistent set, this is about 85% Ex-Mt to Near Mint, mostly Ex-Mt and Ex-Mt Plus. Sharp looking set, very nice, just below 7 quality overall. No issues here, the key cards grade as follows (they are a step below the commons and secondary stars): 3 Kill/Mantle Ex++, 16 Morgan RC NM, 134 Mantle WS Ex-Mt+ ctd, 155 Maris PSA 6, 160 Clemente Ex-Mt, 170 Aaron Ex-Mt, 207 Rose Ex+ o/c, 250 Mays PSA 5, 300 Koufax PSA 4, 320 Gibson Ex+, 350 Mantle PSA 6, 385 Yastrzemski Ex-Mt+, 400 Killebrew Ex-Mt, 461 Carroll/Niekro Ex-Mt, 470 Berra Ex-Mt+, 477 Carlton RC PSA 5, 510 Banks Ex-Mt+, 526 Hunter RC PSA 5, 540 Brock Ex-Mt+ and 581 Perez RC PSA 6. If you are looking for a clean problem-free 65 set but do want to get into a graded set, than this is something to seriously consider. 971965 Topps Complete Set w/63 graded cards NM to Nm-Mt......... 1600 Exceptionally fine set is especially well centered for a 65. Cards have sharp corners and are quite clean, many look to be from vending. Condition looks to be about half Nm-Mt or better, the balance almost all Near Mint or incredibly close. The SMR on the 63 graded cards is approximately $3,000. A full listing will be on our web site. Keys are as follows: 1 Oliva/Howard PSA 7, 16 Morgan RC PSA 7, 20 Bunning PSA 8, 23 PSA 9, 99 Hodges PSA 8, 113 PSA 9, 130 Kaline PSA 8, 134 Mantle WS Ex-Mt+, 145 Tiant PSA 8, 150 Brooks Robinson PSA 6, 155 Maris NM, 160 Clemente PSA 5.5, 170 Aaron PSA 7, 176 McCovey PSA 8, 207 Rose PSA 5, 220 Williams PSA 8, 250 Mays PSA 7, 260 Drysdale PSA 8, 266 Campaneris RC PSA 8.5, 300 Koufax PSA 6, 320 Gibson PSA 6.5, 350 Mantle BVG 7.5, 385 Yastrzemski Ex-Mt+, 387 Podres PSA 9, 390 PSA 8, 400 Killebrew NM, 410 Aparicio PSA 8, 437 PSA 9, 460 Allen PSA 7, 461 Carroll/Niekro NM cut short, 470 Berra PSA 7, 475 Boyer PSA 8, 477 Carlton RC SGC 8, 510 Banks Ex-Mt+, 526 Hunter RC PSA 5, 533 McGraw/Swoboda PSA 8, 540 Brock PSA 7 and 581 Perez RC PSA 6. Another superb set that would be hard to top without getting into a registry set. 29 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 981966 Topps Complete Set NM to Nm-Mt........ 1500 Always popular, this set is anchored by a tough high number run. Condition sensitive issue, especially with respect to centering, this lot was assembled by a very careful collector for whom centering was always a focus. There are 99 PSA-graded cards with this set, the SMR on these cards is $3,154 (a full listing will be on our web site). There are 10 additional variations included, the Uecker, Ranew, Groat, Johnson and Landrum variations as well as both versions of five of the checklists. Strikingly sharp and fine set, these look to be 75% Nm-Mt or better to our eye, the balance almost all a strong Near Mint or Near Mint Plus. Many of these cards look to be straight from vending and have that signature fresh Mint feel. The high numbers are fantastic as well, perhaps 55-60% Nm-Mt or better, the balance also a strong Near Mint or Near Mint Plus. As far as centering, this is BY FAR the best centered 66 set that we have ever seen or handled. A high grade set with many graded cards sold for over $12,000 in our last major auction; this set is not very different at all! The key cards are as follows: 1 Mays PSA 4, 4 PSA 8.5, 28 Niekro PSA 8, 30 Rose PSA 5, 50 Mantle PSA 7, 70 Yastrzemski PSA 7.5, 100 Koufax PSA 8 oc, 110 Banks PSA 8, 120 Killebrew PSA 8, 125 Brock PSA 7, 126 Palmer RC PSA 7, 171 PSA 9, 185 PSA 9, 186 PSA 9, 215 Clemente/ Aaron Mays PSA 7, 217 Mays/McCovey PSA 7, 218 PSA 9, 225 Koufax/Veale PSA 8, 254 Jenkins RC PSA 7, 255 Stargell PSA 7, 270 PSA 9, 286 PSA 8.5, 288 Sutton RC PSA 6, 300 Clemente PSA 7, 320 Gibson PSA 7.5, 390 B. The winning bidder should really enjoy this exquisite set. 30 991967Topps Complete Set w/Seaver PSA 8 NM to Nm-Mt........ 2000 Classic and beloved Topps set, these are always so popular among collectors. Lots of value here, with a classic high number run and many great looking star cards. The offered near-set is terrific, anchored by a Tom Seaver Rookie in an 8 holder and a Rod Carew Rookie in a 7 holder. We have a few condition rarities offered as separate lots, but boy these are some strong cards, many of which are do doubt from vending. There are 63 PSA-graded cards in the lot, with an SMR of approximately $4,552 (a full listing will be on our web site). Another gorgeous set, this looks to be about 65% NmMt or better, the balance almost all a very strong Near Mint or Near Mint Plus. The vital high numbers are also very strong, about half Nm-Mt or better, half Near Mint. The key cards are as follows: 30 Kaline PSA 8, 45 Maris PSA 7, 140 Stargell PSA 8, 150 Mantle PSA 7, 180 PSA 9, 192 PSA 9, 200 Mays PSA 6, 201 PSA 9, 215 Banks PSA 8, 238 Koufax LL PSA 9, 250 Aaron PSA 5, 292 PSA 9, 315 B Williams PSA 8, 320 G Perry PSA 8, 355 Yaz PSA 7, 369 Hunter PSA 8, 400 Clemente , 423 Mays/McCovey PSA 8, 430 Rose PSA 6, 456 P Niekro PSA 8, 460 Killebrew PSA 6, 481 Durocher PSA 9, 536 Niekro RC PSA 8, 542 Monday RC PSA 8, 550 PSA 8, 553 Hegan RC PSA 8, 555 Cardwell PSA 9, 558 Belanger RC VG-Ex (well ctd), 567 Hamilton PSA 8, 569 Carew RC PSA 7, 570 Wills PSA 8, 578 PSA 8, 580 Colavito PSA 8 oc, 581 Seaver RC PSA 8, 594 Osinski PSA 8, 600 B. Robinson PSA 7, 604 Red Sox Team PSA 8, 605 Shannon PSA 7 and 609 John PSA 6. Please 11 additional variations are included, with note to the tough 86 McCormick, 26 Priddy, 58 Schaal, 374 Queen, 402 Jackson, 417 Bruce, 427 Gomez, 447 Belinsky and the Mantle and Mays and two other checklists. Remarkable quality set, something you just do not see. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 1001968 Topps Complete Set NM............. 1000 Fine looking 68 set, please note the desirable variations of Brinkman and Cox and three checklists are also included. This is the kind of set where the commons and secondary stars are a full grade better than the keys. Condition looks to be about half Nm-Mt or better, the balance almost all Near Mint. We did not check the commons and such for 8s and 9s, there almost have to be some gems like that as these super sharp cards were collected 10-20 years ago. This would be a very manageable project to upgrade to a full Nm-Mt set if desired. Our consignor was especially focused on centering, and this is certainly one of the very best centered 68 Topps sets that one is ever likely to see. The key cards are as follows: The key cards are as follows: 45 Seaver PSA 7, 49.2 Brinkman Yellow Ex, 50 Mays NM, 66.2 Cox Yellow Ex, 80 Carew NM, 110 Aaron PSA 7, 150 Clemente PSA 5 (looks much nicer), 177 Ryan/Koosman RC PSA 6 (well ctd, very high-end for grade), 230 Rose NM, 240 Kaline NM+, 247 Bench RC Ex-Mt+ ctd, 280 Mantle SGC 7, 330 Maris NM Ctd, 374 Clemente AS PSA 9 pd, 408 Carlton PSA 7, 480 Oliva/Cardenas/Clemente PSA 6, 490 Kill/Mays/Mantle PSA 5 (well ctd, looks much nicer), 500 F. Robinson PSA 8, 505 Sparma PSA 6, 528 Tigers Team Ex-Mt+, 530 Bird Belters/ Robinson NM and 575 Palmer NM. 101 1968Topps Action All Star Stickers Mays (Rose and Santo)Ex-Mt........... 200 Superb piece, this is sharp, well centered and super clean. One of the absolute keys to this set, this piece has a large image of Willie Mays in the dominant center panel. In addition to Mays, this has Pete Rose, Ron Santo and Ed Kranepool. A very fine wrinkle at the top left corner of the Mays panel keeps this at an awfully nice Ex-Mt. The last example we had sold for over $1,100 in June 2015. 102Bulk 1968 - 1969 Topps Lot w/many stars (3,500+ pcs) VG-Ex.......... 300 An old time box of cards, we filled up most of a 5,000 box with stars but did not otherwise count them so the count is very approximate. Condition is VG-Ex overall but ranges from VG to Ex-Mt, far from terrible. In addition to the listed stars, there is a wide variety of secondary stars. Duplication is not excessive, it may be possible to make near-sets here. Better cards include: 1968 Topps: 45 Seaver, 50 Mays, 80 Carew, 100 Gibson, 110 Aaron (3), 150 Clemente (4), 230 Rose (3), 240 Kaline, 247 Bench RC (2), 280 Mantle (2), 330 Maris, 374 Clemente AS (4), 408 Carlton, 480 Oliva/Cardenas/Clemente, 490 Kill/Mays/Mantle, 500 F. Robinson, 520 Brock, 575 Palmer and 1969 Topps: 20 Banks, 50 Clemente , 85 Brock, 95 Bench, 100 Aaron, 120 Rose, 130 Yaz, 190 Mays, 200 Gibson, 250 F. Robinson, 255 Carlton, 375 Killebrew, 410 Kaline, 500.1 Mantle , 510 Carew, 533 Ryan, 550 B. Robinson, 573 Palmer, 597 Fingers RC, 650 Williams. Clearly a loaded lot with the stars that are always missing from these types of lots, the breakdown value here also has to be simply tremendous. 1041969 Topps Complete Set NM to Nm-Mt.......... 700 Strikingly sharp and clean set, many of these look to be from vending. Well centered for a 69 set (not perfect by any stretch but nice!), these cards are 30-35% Near Mint to Mint or better (possibly more), the balance almost entirely a very strong Near Mint or Near Mint Plus. These are very sharp, super clean and fine cards. Seven additional variation cards are also included with the set. The key cards grade as follows: 20 Banks PSA 7, 50 Clemente PSA 6, 95 Bench NM, 100 Aaron PSA 7, 120 Rose Ex-Mt+, 130 Yaz PSA 7, 190 Mays PSA 7, 200 Gibson PSA 8, 250 F. Robinson PSA 8, 255 Carlton PSA 8, 260 R Jackson RC PSA 7, 410 Kaline NM, 480 Seaver PSA 7, 500.1 Mantle PSA 5 (ctd, tough grade), 510 Carew NM, 533 Ryan PSA 7, 545 Stargell PSA 7, 550 B. Robinson PSA 8, 573 Palmer PSA 5, 597 Fingers RC NM and 630 Bonds RC NM. Please note the commons and secondary stars have not been picked for grading, there could well some gems lurking within. 31 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 1031969 MLBPA Complete Set NM............... 240 High grade set, we sent the following to PSA for slabbing: Aaron 7, Banks 4, Bench 8, Brock 8, Carew 8, Clemente 4, Gibson 5, Kaline 7, Mays 7, McCovey 7, Rose 8 and Yaz 7. The rest of the set should be similar to the stars, extremely clean, sharp and fine overall. 1051970 Topps Very Near-Set (705 different) Ex-Mt/NM................. 450 Strong set, missing only keys Rose and Bench. The condition is about 40% Near Mint, the balance almost all Ex-Mt/NM or so, these were culled from a large quantity for condition (some cards need to be upgraded for centering). Keys are as follows: 1 Mets TC Ex-Mt+, 10 Carl Yaz Ex-Mt+, 140 Jackson SGC 6, 189 Munson RC Ex+, 197 Ryan NLCS NM oc, 300 Seaver NM, 350 Clemente NM oc, 500 Aaron Ex-Mt, 600 Mays Ex++, 630 Banks Ex-Mt, 640 Kaline Ex-Mt, 700 F. Robinson Ex-Mt, 712 Ryan Ex++ and 713 Pilots TC Ex++. This should be a very simple project to complete and/or upgrade. 1061971 Topps Complete Set Ex-Mt........... 500 Offered is an exceedingly consistent and absolutely ideal ExMt 1971 Topps set. Condition looks to be least 80% Ex-Mt or better, the balance are almost all Ex or better, nothing to do here really. The high numbers are very similar, closer to 70% Ex-Mt or better, but certainly more than clean. The key cards are as follows: 5 Munson Ex-Mt, 20 Jackson Ex-Mt+, 100 Rose Ex++, 160 Seaver Ex-Mt, 250 Bench Ex-Mt, 341 Garvey RC Ex-Mt+, 400 Aaron NM, 513 Ryan Ex-Mt ctd, 525 Banks Ex-Mt+, 530 Yaz Ex-Mt+, 570 Palmer Ex-Mt+, 600 Mays Ex-Mt, 625 Brock Ex-Mt, 630 Clemente Ex-Mt, 640 F Robinson Ex-Mt, 650 Allen SP Ex-Mt oc, 688 Anderson Ex-Mt+, 709 Baylor/Baker RC Ex-Mt+ and 740 Aparicio Ex-Mt. 32 1071971 Topps Complete Set NM............... 700 A special Near Mint 71 set, our consignor had a relentless focus on centering, resulting in BY FAR the best centered 1971 Topps set that we have ever seen. A superb Near Mint or better set, one would be incredibly hard pressed to find a better looking 71 set than the offered lot. Condition is about half Nm-Mt, half a striking Near Mint, the high numbers look great as well (we did not check the commons and minor stars for slabbing, so there could well be some gems here). Fresh to market, these were collected 10-20 years ago. The key cards grade as follows: 5 Munson Ex-Mt+ mc, 20 Jackson PSA 6, 100 Rose NM, 160 Seaver NM, 210 Carew PSA 6, 250 Bench PSA 6, 341 Garvey RC NM, 400 Aaron NM, 513 Ryan PSA 6, 525 Banks PSA 7.5, 530 Yaz NM, 550 Killebrew PSA 6, 570 Palmer PSA 7, 600 Mays PSA 7.5, 625 Brock Ex-Mt+, 630 Clemente PSA 8, 640 F Robinson NM, 650 Allen SP NM+, 688 Anderson NM, 709 Baylor/Baker RC PSA 7 and 740 Aparicio NM. If you are looking for a strong Near Mint of better 71 set and do not want to get involved with a $5,000 plus graded set, than this is something to very seriously consider as sets like this hardly ever come to market. 108 1982 Topps Complete Wax Case (20 boxes) NM..... 1000 Desirable early 1980s full case, this is fresh to the hobby. In the original case as issued, the boxes themselves show very slight wear, so these may have been in a store at one time and put back in the case. The packs are tight, there is no reason to think these were searched (they are consigned by an old-time collector). We have seen these retail for $5,000 a case, let’s start things super low to make things interesting! Ripken 10s anyone? This is an exciting full case offering from a desirable year. February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards Graded Baseball Cards 1091888 Cabinet Chris Von der Ahe SGC 1........... 400 Presumably rare, offered is a true cabinet from about 1888 of this St. Louis Browns (this franchise became the Cardinals) owner and impresario. Von der Ahe’s teams won the Championship from 1885 - 1888, likely the reason this card was produced. A crease through the center keeps this properly graded as a 1, the image quality is nonetheless terrific. Produced by an F.W. Guerin in St. Louis, you have to love the ornate reverse. A potential HOFer, Von der Ahe was on the short list of 10 in 2015 but did not make it. Affordable and very attractive real cabinet card of a big name figure from 19th century baseball. 1101908 Dietsche Tigers Ty Cobb (scarce) SGC 1..... 400 Postmarked 1909, this is the very scarce series two style of Dietsche postcards, a very tough Ty Cobb card. Low grade but not abused, this has some creasing but the image and surfaces present quite well, the postcard has been mailed, leading to a nice antique feel. This is something that hardly ever comes to market. 1111909 E92 Crofts Cocoa Lajoie SGC 3........... 250 Very tough card as this is the scarce Cocoa series. Centered slightly to the left border, this card offers terrific color, a clean back and clean surfaces. Corner wear and very mild creasing keep this at a fully acceptable 3. A Cobb from this series went nuts in our last major auction, it will be interesting to see where this ends up. 1121909 E92 Dockman Honus Wagner PSA 3......... 1000 Key card of Honus Wagner, this has one of his best images on a standard size card. Always desirable because of the player, these also happen to be somewhat scare if only because this is one of the last cards collectors let go when they sell cards. Centered mildly to the left border, this has bright color, clean borders and a nice back. A crease by the bottom border and corner wear keep this at a 3. 1131909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel Honus Wagner SGC 2........... 800 The key to this great set, this is also one of the most popular cards of the legendary Honus Wagner. Perfectly graded, this has some creasing on the front and back that does not crack the paper, a fine image, good color, clean borders and no back damage. Corner wear is mild. Well centered, this will look great in all but a high grade set and of course a Honus Wagner vintage card is always a welcome addition to any baseball card collection. 1141909 T206 Bender (pitching, no trees) PSA 3 (Old Mill).......... 150 Bright card has a fine image and clean white borders. A crease by the lower right corner keeps this at a 3. The desirable Old Mill back is quite clean. 1151909 T206 Bresnahan (with bat) PSA 4 (Tolstoi Back).200 Bright crease-free card has a great image, clean surfaces and no creases or wrinkles. Corner wear keeps this at a 4. The desirable Tolstoi back is especially clean and fine. T206 HOFers with unusual backs remain white-hot in this market. 33 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 1161909 T206 Chance (portrait, yellow bkd) SGC 5........... 160 One of the more classic T206 HOFers, this one is not so easy to find in this quality. Extremely clean card, this has perfectly clean surfaces, a brilliant image and perfect color. The back is perfectly clean, the borders are nice and white. Slight wear at the upper left corner is the only possible distraction here. This will very nicely fill this hole in your T206 set or HOFer collection. 1171909 T206 Johnson (portrait) SGC 4........... 600 Key card, one of the most popular of all T206 cards. Offered is a very pleasing VG-Ex 4, with no visible creases or wrinkles, even under magnification. The surfaces are quite clean, this is reasonably well centered and has a nice image. The back is a clean Piedmont. Corners show moderate and consistent wear, not bad at all. Who wants to fill a gaping hole in their T206 HOFer run or set? 1181909 T206 Kelley PSA 3 (Old Mill)................ 150 Attractive card, always one of my favorites from this set. Elusive HOFer, this is good as it has a clean Old Mill back. No visible creases or wrinkles, even corner wear, ideal 3. 1191909 T206 Shaughnessy PSA 1 (Brown Hindu back)........... 150 Very popular card with a desirable back. Creasing keeps this at a 1, there are no technical flaws. The back displays quite well. 1201910 Diamond Gum Pins Mathewson PSA 6....... 500 Rare pinback, this is the first one we have ever seen or handled. A cousin to the Sweet Caporals, this is special as it has a distinct blue border that reads Free With Diamond Gum on the rim. Strong condition, this is a very solid Ex-Mt 6 with no chipping issues and a clean look. The back has the original paper and is still fairly bright. Very undervalued given the player and issue, do not assume one of these will come around again anytime soon! 1211910 E125 American Caramel Heinie Wagner SGC 5........... 600 Such a neat issue, these are so hard to find fully intact with no missing body parts. A very strong Ex, there are no creases, the surfaces are clean, the back looks terrific. I like the quality of this piece, it gives a great feel for his throwing style. Great issue, these are so undervalued compared to some oddball T206 front and back combination given the E125 issue’s extreme scarcity, especially in condition. 1221910 E98 Hal Chase SGC 5........... 250 Extremely attractive card has a superb image, exceptional color, perfect centering and bright white borders. Mild corner wear keeps this at an awfully nice Ex. The back is clean as well. 1231911 D359 Rochester Baking Home Run Baker SGC 2........... 900 Great card from a revered subset, you have to love the color and design here. Solid 2 is well centered with bright, white borders, perfect color and a flawless image. The back has some minor wear, not bad at all. Ideal as a type, this is also one of HOFer Home Run Baker’s toughest cards; do not 34 count on this coming around again anytime soon! February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 1241911 M116 Christy Mathewson (blue bknd) PSA 3.5........ 600 Beautiful card from an underrated issue, this clean card has no creases or wrinkles. Well centered, this has bright white borders, a perfect image and a flawless back. Corner wear is the only issue. Somewhat undervalued card given the player and set. 1251911 M116 Eddie Plank PSA 3........... 300 Extremely attractive card of Eddie Plank, notable as it uses the same image as his legendary T206 card. Underrated in this market, the offered card is well centered with a perfect image, clean borders and a fine back. Corner wear appears to be the only real issue here. Fine card for the grade, a great card to put in a draw for a few years. 1261911 T201 9 Bresnahan/Huggins SGC 7.5........ 250 Well centered with four sharp corners, this looks like a real blazer to us. The edges are perfectly crisp, the color is terrific and the surfaces appear to be immaculate. Very underrated issue when they can be found in this quality. 1271911 T3 Turkey Red 35 Joe Tinker SGC 7 (highest graded any company)....... 2500 Stunning card, this happens to be one of the most difficult of all T3 Turkey Red HOFers to find in top quality. There are no PSA 7s (two 6s are the top examples of the PSA population report) and this is the only SGC 7. As for the card itself, it is in truly beautiful condition. The corners all come to square points and are sharp, the borders could not be any clearer, nor the image any nice. The back looks great, the surfaces are pristine. Very recently graded, we did not attempt to cross this into a PSA 7. A special card, a great chance to own the finest known example of a HOFer from one of the greatest sets of baseball cards ever produced. 1281912 Oldfield Postcard Joe Tinker SGC Authentic............. 125 Super fun postcard, you have to love this great image of HOFer Joe Tinker riding in a period automobile. Unmailed, a small closed tear and tape at one spot on the back led to the Authentic grade. Card offers excelletn eye appeal, with only moderate creasing and reasonable corner wear. Extremely evocative image is naturally scarce. 1291912 T227 Ty Cobb SGC 1.5........ 750 Beautiful issue, one of the most attractive of all Ty Cobb cards, this is also quite scarce and undervalued in our opinion. The offered card has striking pastel imagery, a wonderful image of Cobb and clean surfaces. Well centered, this has no back damage, clean borders and a very nice look. Corner wear, minute creasing and general wear along with a possible minute closed tear at the top border keep this at a 1.5; it has the eye appeal however of a VG card. We have not had one of these in years. 1321915 Cracker Jack 58 Wally Schang SGC 4............. 50 Sharp looking card has four square corners and no visible creasing, even under magnification. Centered mildly to the right border, an ideal type-card. 35 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 130 1914 Cracker Jack 30 Ty Cobb. SGC 4.5.........................5000 Truly iconic issue and card, the 1914 Cracker Jack issue has been white-hot in recent years, and given the extremely relative scarcity of 1914 to 1915 Cracker Jacks, it is not hard to see. The offered card is one of the most recognizable of all Ty Cobb cards, always a marquis card that is the centerpiece of many a collection. An ideal card for the grade, we could not see any creases or wrinkles, even under magnification. The card has an absolutely flawless and well defined image, clean surfaces and is very well centered as well. The back is fairly clean with no issues. The corners show mild and consistent wear, the borders are off-white as is always the case with the 1914 Cracker Jack issue. No real issues here, some subtle general wear, and some corner wear, overall a very nice card for the grade. While this is certainly not going to be an inexpensive card, these really do seem like bargains when you look at what 52 Topps Mantles now trade at. An important and ultra-desirable card, especially as a scarce 1914 Cracker Jack, who wants to add a truly great card to their collection? 36 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 131 1914 Cracker Jack 103.Joe Jackson PSA 1.............................5000 Truly iconic issue and card, the 1914 Cracker Jack issue has been white-hot in recent years, and given the extremely relative scarcity of 1914 to 1915 Cracker Jacks, it is not hard to see. The offered card is one of the most important and desirable of all Joe Jackson cards, easily his most recognizable and attractive. This is the kind of 1 that everyone loves (it might well have been called VG years ago!). The offered card has a flawless image, attractive original color, clean surfaces (with note to some moderate creasing) and corners that are far from terrible (only the lower right shows extensive wear). There is a very fine closed tear at the very top border, the only real flaw here. The back, with note to some slight creasing, is quite clean overall. In short, this is a very, very attractive card despite its grade and has no technical defects or other classic 1 flaws. This card is an important card of a beyond legendary player and would be an outstanding addition to any vintage card collection. 37 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 1331915 E106 Mathewson SGC 3........... 750 Classic Matty card, you have to love the pastel horizontal image. Well centered, this has a fine image, even corner wear and only mild creasing. The back is fairly clean. Acceptable VG card, this is another card that hardly ever comes to market. 1341916 Boston Stores 86 Hugh Jennings SGC 5.5..... 200 Extremely difficult issue, this happens to be a very nice card. An ideal Ex Plus, this is well centered with reasonably nice corners, perfectly clean borders, a fine image and a clean back. These do not come around very often in this quality. 1351917 H801-8 Boston Store 139 Eppa Rixey (pop 1/2, highest graded) PSA 7........... 300 A phenomenal card, this is centered nearly 50/50 all around with four very sharp corners, immaculate surfaces, a fantastic image and a spotless reverse. A true condition gem, this issue hardly ever turns up in anything approaching this quality. The other 7 last traded publicly ten years ago for the almost comical price of $766 on ebay, it will be interesting to see where this gorgeous card ends up. 1361928 PCL Exhibits 9 Truck Hannah PSA 4.......... 200 Rare and underrated Exhibit issue, we hardly ever see these. The offered card looks like an ideal VG-Ex, with one extremely faint corner crease by the lower right corner, even corner wear, a clean back and a very nice front. Absolutely perfect card for the grade, and also perfect for a type-card collection. 1371928 W502 6 Babe Ruth SGC 4........... 500 Tough and undervalued Babe Ruth card, we do not see these very often at all. Black-backed card offers a fairly unique b/w image of Ruth. The edges are crisp and the back is clean. The card has a slight diamond cut; corner wear is only really noticeable at the lower left corner, this appears to be a very conservative 4 to us. 1381929 Leader Novelty Frank Hogan SGC 3.5........ 150 Extremely scarce issue, these hardly ever come around. Nicely cut, this has crisp edges, solid corners and a fine image. There is a fine crease on the otherwise clean blank back. 1391930 Blue Ribbon Malt Rogers Hornsby SGC 3.... 100 Very elusive issue, many do not even know what it is. Oddball oversize issue has a photo on a mount, this is the key to the set. We are not sure why this only graded a 3. 1401933 Goudey 144 Babe Ruth BVG 2.5........ 900 Classic Babe Ruth card, offered is a highly collectible GVG 2.5 grade. Well centered, which is unusual. The card has perfectly clean surfaces, good color and a perfectly focused image, which is also unusual. The back has some fine creasing but it otherwise clean. Very attractive lower grade Babe Ruth card has excellent eye appeal. 1421939 R303-B Dickey (+ extra) PSA 7.5........ 100 Tough issue to find in high grade, PSA is so brutal with these. This lot contains a superb PSA 7.5 Bill Dickey and a crisp Lefty Gomez PSA 4 with a slight crease. Underrated issue. 38 February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 1411939 Play Ball 92 Ted Williams RC PSA 5.5........ 500 A vital card, the Rookie Card of perhaps the best hitter in baseball history. Ideal card for the grade, this is very, very well centered with a flawless image, clean borders and very clean surfaces. The desirable sample back looks great. Corner wear at the upper right corner keeps this at a very pleasing 5.5. A hot card of late, this one has extraordinary eye appeal owing to the centering and image quality. We have not had a clean sample back in years, it will be interesting to see where this ends up. 1431940 Cincinnati Reds Team Issue Hutchings PSA 9............. 45 Mint card from this small b/w Reds team issue set. Corners are dead perfect, the card could not be any nicer. 1441941 Play Ball 14 Ted Williams PSA 2........... 150 Harshly graded, this is very well centered with no visible creases or wrinkles, even under magnification. The card has a nice image and a clean back. Stray surface wear is the only really issue here; this is some card for the grade. 1451941 Play Ball 54 Pee Wee Reese RC PSA 5........... 150 Solid Ex example of this classic card, one of my personal favorites. A high number, we feel this is a very undervalued card. Centered to the right border, corners exhibit mild and consistent wear. The image and color are terrific, providing for outstanding eye appeal. 1461941 Play Ball 71 Joe DiMaggio PSA 2........... 150 Another very rough grade, this is well centered with a superb image that looks great. No creases or wrinkles, the back is clean, the image quality terrific. A nick on the left border led PSA to grade this an awfully harsh 2. The winning bidder will be getting a real bargain here! 1471941 Play Ball Paper Issue 14 Ted Williams PSA 5........... 500 Rare card, this is at least 100x scarcer than the regular issue card. Extremely attractive card from a most historic season, this is nicely cut with square corners, clean borders, rich color and super clean surfaces. We honestly feel this should grade at least a 6, PSA was a bit harsh here. Either way, this is a scarce and great looking card of a truly iconic player. 1481948 Bowman 36 Stan Musial RC PSA 7........... 300 Vital and super undervalued Bowman card, these do not come around very often in 7 holders. Fresh to the market, the offered card has four sharp corners, just about perfect centering, a crystal clear image and pristine surfaces. The back looks great, you really cannot ask more than this out of a 1948 Bowman card. Despite recent appreciation, this card still seems like a veritable bargain to us. Go to www.cleansweepauctions.com for many additional images. The offered card was purchased decades ago and was sitting in a Yankee binder until now. Completely fresh, this has not been seen until now. This happens to also be very nice: this has less creasing than 95% of the cards from this extremely condition sensitive issue, the back has no damage, the image of Mickey is terrific, the borders are reasonably well cut, the color and image quality are strong and the surfaces are relatively clean. These were issued on the backs of boxes and are all hand-cut, hence the Authentic grade from PSA. Were it not for the Authentic grade, this should grade VG or VG Plus in our view. As for sales history, an inferior example sold on ebay in June 2015 (this one has a much better cut on the top border) for $7,877. If you are an advanced Mantle collector or a collector of this awfully tough set, this is not an opportunity to let go lightly. A special card, no doubt it will find a special home. We will open this one especially low to make things interesting! 1953 Topps - Stunning Cards 252 22 Howie Fox PSA 8.5........... 250 Big card, this one is a real stunner. Centered a hair to the left, this has brand new color, pristine surfaces, four super sharp corners and no chipping. Amazing condition 53 Topps card, very scarce and pricey in this quality, this is a pop 1/3 with only two higher. Who wants to move up on the registry? 253 27 Roy Campanella PSA 8.............. 175 Remarkable card, this has that signature super high grade feel. This is centered slightly to the right border with four very sharp corners, bright white borders and an outstanding black border by the lower right corner. The image is strikingly nice, the kind of card that makes you want to start a 53 set in high grade! 254 37 Eddie Mathews PSA 7.5........... 100 Great looking card has 55/45 centering, brilliant white borders, great color and a lovely image. A flick of white showing at the lower left corner keeps this at an awfully nice Near Mint Plus 7.5. This is only Eddie’s second-year card, undervalued in high grade in our opinion. 255 42 Gus Zernial PSA 8................ 50 Sharp and super clean, centered a hair to the left border. Very fine 8, these seem so undervalued to us. 257 59 Karl Drews PSA 8................ 50 Perfectly centered with four sharp corners, a classic 8 from this great set. 48 256 56 Gerald Staley (highest graded, pop 1/4) PSA 9.............. 300 Remarkable card, the HIGHEST GRADED example as of December 2015. Brilliant card is well centered with four dead Mint corners, no chips, excellent color, pristine surfaces and bright white borders. The image quality is amazing, this card fully earns its Mint 9 grade. A condition rarity, who wants to move up on the set registry? February 3 Auction: Baseball Cards 1953 Topps - Stunning Cards 258 70 Ed Yuhas PSA 8................ 50 Another card this is very well centered with four sharp corners, solid 8 from this great set. 259 76 Pee Wee Reese PSA 8.............. 200 Stunning card, this is perfectly centered with four sharp corners, pristine surfaces, bright white borders, no chipping and an outstanding image. Extremely high-end 8, I love the subtle natural rough cut on the right border. This is quite simply a superb example of an extremely attractive card. 267 149 Dom DiMaggio PSA 8................ 75 Superb 8, this is just about perfectly centered with four sharp corners. There is no chipping, the image could not be any nicer. Extremely attractive example of a classic card, you have to love the image. 260 77 Johnny Mize PSA 8.............. 100 Laser sharp card, this has four truly extrarordinary corners, a brilliant image, pristine white borders and that signature high grade feel. Slight centering to the left border keeps this amazing card out of contention for a 9. 261 78 Red Schoendienst PSA 8.............. 200 Very tough card to find in quality, this is both a single-print and a card that is notoriously off-center. The offered card is terrific, centered about 50/50 all around with four sharp corners, perfect borders, no chipping of any kind and a crystal clear image. This should be an upgrade for almost all collectors, a special card. 262 80 Jim Hegan PSA 8.5........... 100 Stunning card, this maybe should have been a 9. Card has four laser sharp corners, immaculate borders, brilliant color and that signature Mint look. Amazing condition card, this will no doubt find a happy home. Pop 1/5 with only 4 higher. 263 82 Mickey Mantle PSA 5.............. 600 We all know the power of grading to affect prices but sometimes it can be frustrating. The offered card is a classic example of this. An extraordinary 53 Mantle to our eyes, the offered card has high quality centering, brilliant original color, no chipping at all in the red border, bright white borders, super clean surfaces and a pristine reverse. The corners all come to points, the lower right corner is just not quite as sharp as the other three. We feel very strongly that this should have graded at least an Ex-Mt 6 and it may well end up in that holder in the future. As presented, this card could well be the nicest 53 Mantle 5 in the hobby; it has no technical defects and is simply beautiful to look at. 264 119 Johnny Sain PSA 8.............. 150 Very tough card in quality, this is a pricey 8. Well centered with four very sharp corners, this has terrific color and image quality. The borders are nice and white, this is in short a great looking 53 Topps card. 265 122 Elmer Valo PSA 8................ 75 Extremely well centered with great color and no chipping issues, yet another superb 8. 266 128 Elmer Mizell PSA 8.............. 125 Tougher 8, the image here is amazing. PSA 8.5......... 1000 Stunning card, this is a card remember as it was the best example I had ever seen. The consignor bought this card from me over 20 years ago along with others in the auction, there were from an incredible mini-find of remarkable quality 53 Topps cards. World class card, one of the most attractive images in the set. The offered card has four razor sharp corners, excellent centering, no chips, brilliant color and bright white borders. It would be hard to imagine a nicer example of this card. Pop 1/1, only one collector in the world has a 9, who wants to add this beautiful card to their collection and move up on the set registry? 269 191 Ralph Kiner PSA 8.............. 150 Elusive HOFer in quality, this one is superb. Well centered with four sharp corners, bright white borders and that signature high grade feel. The image could not be any nicer, this is a great looking 8. 270 244 Willie Mays SGC 7............. 800 Outstanding card, this has always been Willie Mays’s most difficult card in condition and this offers a truly classic image. Very hard to find in quality, offered is a terrific Near Mint 7. This superb card boasts four sharp corners, more than acceptable centering, clean white borders, no chipping issues and a perfect image. The back is bright and clean as well. A flick of white at the very tip of the lower right corner keeps this at an awfully nice Near Mint 7. A vital card that seems undervalued to us at current market levels, these are again very tough to find in this quality and this is the second most important card to one of the very best sets ever produced by Topps. 271 255 Dixie Howell PSA 8.............. 200 Fantastic condition Brooklyn Dodger high number, this has four very sharp corners, no chipping issues, amazing color and is reasonably well centered. Pricey 8, these do not come around very often. 2721954 Dan Dee Mickey Mantle PSA 1.5........ 150 A classic regional, one of the most attractive of its era. Bright, well centered card retains vivid original color and perfect image quality. The back has no damage, creasing keeps this at an overly harsh 1.5 (it should be a 2 in our opinion). The winning bidder should really enjoy this classic Mickey Mantle 1950s regional card. 2731954 Red Heart Billy Cox PSA 9........... 100 Popular card of a Brooklyn Dodger, this has four super sharp corners with no wear, perfect surfaces and excellent centering. A whitehot card in recent years, the offered card was purchased over 10 years ago and has been sitting quietly in a collection until now. Well centered, this has brilliant color and image quality, clean white borders and no tilt. This has a truly outstanding image with the deepest color we have ever seen on one of these, setting this apart from almost all others. The corners come to points, but there is the slightest lack of sharpness on the two left corners and some slight wear on the back by the very bottom border, taking this out of consideration for an 8 grade. The back is otherwise bright and clean, this is not a card that will come around very often in this quality. Who wants to add a vital high grade Rookie Card to their collection or make a serious upgrade in their 55 set? 280198 Yogi Berra PSA 8........... 400 Gorgeous card, these are so hard to find well centered and without print defects.
