BES featured the Humane Society of the Ozarks the
second quarter of 2016. HSO was founded in 1946 to
promote the humane treatment of animals through
education and advocacy. Dr. Nate, Dr. Katherine
and the twins participated in the 24th annual
Dogwood Walk on May 7 at Gulley Park.

This quarter BES is featuring the Northwest Arkansas Women’s
Shelter. More than 136,000 people in Northwest Arkansas are
affected by violence. We wanted to take part in bringing
awareness and any donations that could help our community.
We were very glad to hear that the shelter will remain open
due to the community’s financial help.
The shelter’s website offers resources in three different categories:

1. Current victims, potential clients, friends/family looking for
information for someone they suspect or know is in an
abusive relationship.
2. For research about domestic abuse and sexual assault
statistics.
3. General public resources; resource for previous clients.
