Anniversary
The Emmett Kelly Museum and
the Sedan area community have
embarked on a mission to sponsor
and hold the Emmett Kelly
Museum’s 40th Anniversary and
Largest Clown Gathering. We
intend to break the Guinness
World Record. (Based on the record
of largest gathering of clowns in 1991,
at Bognor Regis, West Sussex, UK,
where 850 clowns, including 430 from
North America.)
During the week of June 18 - 23,
2007, will be a Clown School, a
Circus and other Clown related
activities. On June 23, the Largest
Clown Gathering Parade will take
place and a Guinness
representative will announce the
results.

and the good ‘ol U.S.A.!

The Emmett Kelly Museum and the
Sedan area community have
embarked on a mission to Restore and
Update the historic Sedan Opera
House in which the Emmett Kelly
Museum resides.

Featured on the Kansas Preservation
Alliances - Most Endangered List, the
historical building’s roof, windows,
doors and structure are in much need
of repair or replacement.
Programs have been adopted to
restore and maintain the upstairs
theater for use as a dinner theater,
meeting hall, and convention room. To
accomplish this, we seek to purchase
the adjacent vacant lot to build an
access facility which will contain
entrance, elevators, office & training
rooms, restrooms and a full chef’s
kitchen on the upper floor.
The Update program is designed to
bring the museum into the new
century and expand educational value
and access.
