Instructor-Led On-Line Training and Webinars
No time to take off for classes? No travel budget?
Go to www.tcworkshop.com and check our current Instructor-Led
On-Line (ILO) classes and/or Webinars. You can also call one of our
Education Coordinators for more information.
Benefits of Instructor-Led On-Line classes:
► No Traveling Required - save time and money!
► You can take care of emergencies that come up at the office!
► You will use a computer you are familiar with!
► May have more options by registering for classes that are out of the Columbus area.
► Unlike on-line classes, you will be able to talk to the instructor and if you have the correct
equipment, you will be able to see the instructor. You will be able to see the demonstrations
that are shown to the class.
What is included in Instructor-Led On-Line classes?
► Class workbook (courseware) in PDF format or we can mail you a hard copy!
► Handouts from the instructor in PDF format!
► Course Data Files sent to you via e-mail!
► Unlimited phone and e-mail support!
► Retake of the class up to 1 year (for most courses) from the date of your class. This can be in
an Instructor-Led On-Line class, an Instructor Assistant class at The Computer Workshop
(TCW), Video Training (some topics may not be available) or an Instructor Led class at TCW.
What is the difference between and Instructor-Led On-Line (ILO) class
and a Webinar?
► ILO classes are exactly the same as those taught in our physical
classrooms!
►Webinars are selected topics that may or may not be in our regular
classes!
► Webinars are normally 1 to 2 hours in length per day. ILO classes
are 7-8 hours per day.
► ILO classes have all the support documentation as regular classes.
► Webinars will most likely have a ‘Quick Reference Handout’. Some
Webinars won’t have any documentation.
► In ILO classes, students do the exercises using their own computer.
► In Webinars, students listen to the instructions and may take notes, but won’t have the
class files to do the exercises with the instructor.
► ILO classes are the same price as our regular classroom courses. Webinars are at a
reduced price.

This workshop aims to provide a realistic and interactive overview of what business analysis is,
and what a business analyst does in the framework of defining system solutions. This workshop
will use a case study approach to allow participants to perform a current state analysis to identify
the “as is” situation, interview users to elicit requirements about the “future state”, and write
requirements for the solution. In order to perform these exercises, the workshop will cover such
topics as procedure analysis and activity (swim lane) diagrams, interviewing techniques, and
the attributes of quality requirements. Participants will work in teams to complete the exercises
and receive peer review of their work. Content endorsed by IIBA®. PDUs = 8.
From enterprise analysis and scope definition to requirements determination and conceptual
design, the Fast Start® in Business Analysis workshop gives analysts a thorough understanding
of the entire Systems Development Life Cycle. Replete with both “hard” and “soft” skills, this
three-day course builds a sound strategy for analyzing business processes and demonstrates
how to apply concepts and practical techniques within the context of an experiential learning
environment. Students emerge from this workshop with a solid foundation of business analysis
thinking as well as a greater understanding that doing the right things is just as important as
doing things right. Content endorsed by IIBA®. PDUs = 24.
This workshop uses a case study to help you explore two standard approaches to conceptual
modeling: the Unified Modeling Language and Information Engineering. It is designed to be
prescriptive as well as descriptive. This means that best practice will be emphasized through
explanation and application. You will discover what should be done as well as how to do it,
and why. Content endorsed by IIBA®. PDUs = 21.
This comprehensive workshop helps business analysts complement their practical systems
thinking with a thorough understanding of effective people skills. A few of the many important
topics covered in Survival Skills for Analysts include understanding team dynamics and
resolving interpersonal conflicts; improving communication skills; planning and managing
meetings more effectively and achieving greater consensus and commitment. To help ensure
students continue to cultivate these critical skills after completion of the workshop, an action
plan is developed for ongoing personal development in the workplace environment. Content

By mastering the project requirements process, business analysts and project managers can better
manage customers’ expectations and satisfy their needs. Requirements discovery is the first
step to a successful project. This workshop focuses on the skills necessary to thoroughly gather
requirements from users, procedures, system components, and various business documents.
Quality requirements statements are the next step in a successful project. So, participants will
learn best practice techniques to write specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and traceable,
requirements statements. Finally, requirements must be properly communicated, validated and
signed off to achieve a successful project outcome. By the end of this course, participants will
have accomplished all three. Overall the workshop is designed to give participants the skills,
hands-on application and confidence they need to tackle any project by producing and gaining
approval for a quality requirements document. Content endorsed by IIBA®. PDUs = 21.

Bringing Business Solutions to Life focuses on the following key themes of the implementation
process from a business analyst perspective: what to implement, how to implement and the
process of implementing the solution. “What to implement” includes verifying the business case,
scope and requirements, and selecting a technical design. The “how to implement the solution”
covers managing requirements, remembering the critical success factors, and validating that the
requirements are met. And “implementing the solution” focuses on planning and implementation
activities based on the 3 components of the solution: systems, process, and organization. Content
endorsed by IIBA®. PDUs = 16.
This course is a 2-day, interactive curriculum that focuses on the role of the Business Analyst
within the technical process of software development. Through numerous examples, it enables
BAs to work more effectively with the IT team by teaching how to express business requirements
in forms that IT can directly use. In the course exercises, the BAs learn to identify the business
entities in the business domain, how to express these concepts in both visually and textually, and
how to specify the semantic relationships among those entities. This course has been endorsed
by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) as compliant with the Business
Analyst Book of Knowledge (BABOK).
This course is designed to provide students with intensive, practical training in the concepts of
requirements specification through use cases. During the course, the students write at least three
non-trivial use cases. At course completion, students will have a comprehensive understanding
of use cases, how to write useful and effective use cases, and both their value and limitations in
either procedural or object-oriented development life cycles. This course has been endorsed by
the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®) as compliant with the Business Analyst
Book of Knowledge (BABOK).

ITIL Service Capability: Service Offerings
and Agreement (SOA)
The primary goal of IT Service Management is to deliver quality IT services that enable
desired business outcomes. To do this, service providers often face a precarious balancing act of managing customer relationships and requirements, understanding and
managing demand and patterns of business activities, aligning internal and external
suppliers and maintaining fiscal responsibility and sound IT investments. The ITIL®
Version 3 (V3) Capability Course - Service Offerings and Agreements (SOA) - provides the best practice process knowledge required to navigate these waters towards
the safe harbor of customer satisfaction and continual service improvement.
ITIL Life cycle: Service Strategy
Service Strategy is the axis upon which the other stages of the IT life cycle are based.
It is in this stage that the high level strategic, investment and business value(s) of each
service is considered and weighed against other existing and proposed services. Based
on the Service Strategy publication of the ITIL® V3 library, ITSM Academy’s course
focuses on the planning, implementing and optimizing of Service Strategy concepts
and processes. The course culminates with the ITIL® V3 Intermediate Service Strategy certification examination.

Business Intelligence technology has the potential to greatly simplify the process
by which business users access and analyze corporate information. Designing and
building these systems, however, is not a simple undertaking. The success of these
systems is due in large part to the skill of the individuals who build them. No matter
how good the tools you use, if the person using them is not sufficiently skilled, the
results will be less than optimal.

SharePoint 2010 - Power End User
This class combines Mindsharp’s ‘Site Member’ and ‘Site Owner’ courses, to provide comprehensive training that will present
students with a ground-up understanding for how to use, operate and build sites in a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server environment.
Students first learn about site navigation, data storage and retrieval through instructor-led modules covering navigation, search and
effective use of lists and libraries. Building on this information, students then take a deeper dive into site administration, learning
how to create and manage sites, lists, libraries, views and work flows. Security and rights administration are also covered. Functional
concepts and best practices are interwoven into the material, providing a framework for the topics discussed.
SharePoint 2010 - Site Collection Administration
This course trains students on the use and function of administration tools available to a site collection administrator using Microsoft
Office SharePoint Server technologies. Effective application of site collection Administrative Tools can increase efficiency and
improve operation of a site collection. Maintenance of Search, Features, Policies, and Site Directory are among the topics covered
in this course. Instructor-led demonstrations and hand-on labs give students a practical understanding of how these tools work.

Security Courses
Organizations must secure their IT infrastructure and networks. Just as corporations employ auditors to routinely examine financial records, so should
corporations audit security policy. Without security audits and compliance
controls, no real security exists. That is why the US Department of Defense
issued “Directive 8570” in 2004 to mandate baseline certifications for all
Information Assurance “IA” positions. In February of 2010, this directive was enhanced to include the Certified Ethical Hacker across the
Computer Network Defense Categories “CND”. Ask about the other
EC-Council Certifications Available!
TCW was one of the first five training facilities in the US to offer Certified Ethical Hacking Courses!

Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures
Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator
Certified Security Analyst
Disaster Recovery Professional
Secure Programmer
Certified Ethical Hacking & Countermeasures
The goal of the ethical hacker is to help the organization take preemptive measures
against malicious attacks by attacking the system himself; all the while staying
within legal limits. This philosophy stems from the proven practice of trying to
catch a thief, by thinking like a thief. As technology advances and organizations
increasingly depend on technology, information assets have evolved into critical
components of survival.
Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator
Computer hacking forensic investigation is the process of detecting hacking attacks
and properly extracting evidence to report the crime and conduct audits to prevent
future attacks. Computer forensics is simply the application of computer investigation
and analysis techniques in the interests of determining potential legal evidence. CHFI
investigators can draw on an array of methods for discovering data that resides in a
computer system, or recovering deleted, encrypted, or damaged file info.
Certified Security Analyst
EC-Council Certified Security Analyst complements the Certified Ethical Hacker
(CEH) certification by exploring the analytical phase of ethical hacking. While CEH
exposes the learner to hacking tools and technologies, ECSA takes it a step further
by exploring how to analyze the outcome from these tools and technologies. Through
ground-breaking penetration testing methods and techniques, the ECSA class helps
students perform the intensive assessments required to effectively identify and
mitigate risks to the security of the infrastructure.
Disaster Recovery Professional
This course teaches you the methods in identifying vulnerabilities and takes
appropriate countermeasures to prevent and mitigate failure risks for an organization.
It also provides the networking professional with a foundation in disaster recovery
principles, including preparation of a disaster recovery plan, assessment of risks in
the enterprise, development of policies, and procedures, and understanding of the
roles and relationships of various members of an organization, implementation of the
plan, and recovering from a disaster.
Secure Programmer
The Certified Secure Programmer program helps expose programmers to the inherent
security drawbacks in various programming languages or architectures. Participants
will be trained to exercise secure programming practices to overcome these inherent
drawbacks in order to preempt bugs from the code. Certified Secure Programmer
lays the basic foundation required by all application developers and development
organizations to produce applications with greater stability and posing lesser security
risks to the consumer.

Microsoft’s Silverlight is a client-side Web technology that enables the implementation of
visually stunning Web applications that depend only on a small, easy-to-install plug-in that
works in browsers for both Windows and Macintosh. Silverlight provides a cross-platform
and cross-browser implementation of the .NET Framework. Out-of-browser support enables
Silverlight applications to run disconnected from the Internet. Silverlight applications can
be implemented in .NET languages such as C# and Visual Basic as well as in JavaScript.
This course provides the C# programmer with a thorough foundation. The course shows
how to use Silverlight to draw shapes, lines, text and images. Layout is discussed in detail,
including sizing and positioning of controls, the use of panels and event handling. There is
an introduction to Silverlight animation and the use of video and audio. Networking issues
are covered, including caching, asynchronous data transfers, and downloading assemblies
and resources on demand. The use of both SOAP and REST based Web services is discussed.
