29 Annual Spring Concert
th
April 17 , 2016
Tickets for the 1:30 Grand Concert go on sale at the Jefferson Center on
th
March 7 at 8:30a.m. Ticket are: $21, $18, $15
Please purchase your tickets early. This concert sells out.
Tickets for the 4:30 abbreviated community-focused Highlights Concert will go on sale
at the Jefferson Center on March 21st at 8:30a.m. Tickets are: $15, $13, $10
For the Spring Concerts we have a full “Grand” concert and an abbreviated “Highlights” concert.
As a new non-profit organization, we’ve encountered too many people who don’t know who we are!
Instead of being the Valley’s best kept secret, we would like to be the Valley’s best asset. We
would like to fill the seats of the second concert with your business and community friends who
are unfamiliar with the choir. With a reduced ticket price and a shorter concert, the Highlights
concert is an “easy sell”! Please plan to invite lots of friends to the Highlights concert!
All choir families should plan to attend the 1:30 concert. This is the only full concert of the day.
1:30
Full Grand Concert
This is our traditional RVCC Spring Concert including all of the prepared
songs by all choirs, the Siblings, Awards and Special Senior Recognition
honoring our seniors and their parents. The concert length of the Traditional
Grand Concert is 2’15”. All choir parents and chorister families should plan to
attend this full concert.
4:30
Abbreviated Highlights Concert
This concert is especially geared for Community and Business Contacts to be
introduced to the choir. Each choir will only sing half of their prepared
repertoire. The Siblings will not sing in this concert. The Broadway selection
will not be performed. This is a very abbreviated version of our concert.
All Choir families should plan to attend the full Grand Concert at 1:30.

Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir
Whistle Choir of Moms, Dads and relatives!
Spring Concert April 17, 2016
Shaftman Hall
Colonel Bogey’s Grand Old Flag!
We need LOTS of whistlers!!! Do you whistle? Here is your chance to shine!!! It’s going to be a
“surprise” to have a whistling choir stand up in their seats (anywhere in the audience) and whistle back
and forth with the A/B choirs who will be playing kazoos.
It’s going to be fun and I hope you can join us! I would like to have at least 60 whistlers. (I hope we get
100+ whistlers!!!!)
Kirsti has written out music especially for the whistlers that is easy to read and understand. We’ll
also have a practice example online on our RVCC website and it will also be sent to everyone as an email.
Whistlers can sit in any seat in the auditorium. It would be great if you could pair up with some
other whistlers when you buy your tickets and get seats close to each other. All whistlers will whistle from
their seat in the auditorium and need to buy a ticket to the performance. We’ll have whistlers spread out
through Shaftman, but hopefully in some clusters.
The Whistling Choir participates in both concerts. All parents attend the first concert (The Grand
Concert) and the second concert is the Highlights Concert. If you don’t plan to attend the second concert,
you can wait in the lobby and after the C Choir finishes their last song, come into the auditorium and stand
in the back.
Colonel Bogey’s Grand Old Flag!
During the song, all Whistlers will stand with an American Flag and start whistling at their solo part. The
tune is familiar and patriotic! Whistlers will remain standing from their solo part until the end of the song
and keep whistling! J
Sign-ups will be on March 7 and 14. Your chorister signs your name at rehearsal and picks up the
music for you. Your name will be listed in the concert program.
I would love to have 100+ whistlers in the audience! It will be a patriotic moment to remember.
Please practice your whistling skills and join in on the fun!!!
Important dates and information:
March 7 and 14
Have your chorister sign your name to be listed in the concert program and also pick
up the Whistlers Music.

$$ Wendy Bucks $$
Did you know that Wendy Bucks are a great way to earn money for your chorister’s
personal account? For every $1.00 worth of Wendy Bucks that you purchase, 25 cents goes
into your chorister’s personal account. Wendy Bucks can be sold to anyone that likes to
eat at Wendy’s, and they can be used like cash at all area Wendy’s! This is an easy
fundraiser and personal account funds can be used to pay for trips, the Fall Retreat, and
Tuition. If you would like to purchase Wendy Bucks, please send a check or cash in an
envelope marked “Wendy Bucks” with your chorister to rehearsal. Please make sure to
include your chorister’s name, as well as what choir they are in. Your request will be filled
and given to your chorister at their next rehearsal.
