Manhiri.
Emmanuel “E-Monie” Manhiri is what they
would call a musical genius. At 24 years old,
he already has over 10 years of experience
writing and producing No.1 hits.
He grew up with a strong passion for music
while singing in the school choir in primary
school. He found myself listening to Michael
Jackson vinyl records at the tender age of 6
and trying to write down all the lyrics so he
could memorise them and sing along to the
records.
His weekends consisted of church choir,
school choir and watching music videos on
MTV, music was clearly all he ate and drank.
While traveling with his parents he picked up
Piano and Saxophone as his main
instruments and began writing songs.
This led to him being headhunter by the
legendary Robert Plant and traveling from
Hidden Hills in California to London, where he
worked for MAS Records.
Already at the age of 13, E-Monie had
established himself as a leading producer in
R&B, Pop and Indie. Under MAS Records, he
worked with major artists among which
Boyz II Men, Blink-182, Ray J and City High.
He wrote and produced the sensational hit
“One Wish” by Ray J. He also wrote and
produced the album version of the US No.1
hit “What Would You Do” by City High, which
also featured in the film “Life”, starring Eddy
Murphy and Martin Laurence. E-Monie wrote
and produced a couple of tracks on the 2003
album of Blink-182, “Feeling This” and “I Miss
You”, which was a No.1 hit in the US.
As a virtuoso instrumentalist, he performed at
a number of keynote events and venues
including the Millennium Dome and Royal
Albert Hall in London where he played
classical piano with Tony Blair, Prince Charles
and Her Majesty the Queen in attendance. He
plays 17 instruments with piano, drums and
saxophone as his favourites.
Emmanuel has a first class degree in
Music with Media & Communication from
the University of Manchester, where he
was the head of his year. He occasionally
speaks as a guest lecturer at Colleges and
Universities in the UK a topics around
music technology and the music industry.
