DIRECTORY of MEMBERSHIP 2007-2008 THE PRESIDENT ’S COUNCIL COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES FROM the PRESIDENT I am proud to introduce the new online format of the 2007-2008 Colorado School of Mines President’s Council Directory of Membership. Council members provided nearly $7 million in funding this year to help us fulfill our unique mission in earth, energy and environment. The generous alumni and friends listed here are an important part of the broad community of support that helps to move Mines forward as we pursue our strategic goals for the future. Charlie NcNeil ’71 deserves a special thanks for excellent work in his second year as national President’s Council chair, as do the dedicated volunteers listed here; with their time, talent and resources, we propelled the Council to unprecedented success in 2007-2008. You helped set an all-time record for President’s Council membership this year – 762 of you joined the Council with an investment in Colorado School of Mines. Along with growth in the number of overall Council members, 2007-2008 saw an increase in young alumni participation as well. Almost 80 Mines graduates from the class years of 1999-2007 joined the Randall Society of the President’s Council through our special young alumni giving program, helping to build a solid foundation of support for the future. As we enter our 135th year here at Mines, private support is more important than ever. Your support is truly an essential piece of the school’s success, enabling us to continue to attract the best faculty and the brightest students to this institution. Your commitment to Mines demonstrates the power of philanthropy and helps to enrich our cuttingedge education and research programs. Scoggins INTRODUCTION The President’s Council is founded on the principle that Mines’ vital mission is best served when a dedicated community of alumni and friends remains intellectually and financially invested in the institution. OBJECTIVES Through exceptional commitment to annual giving, active networking and regular information sharing, the President’s Council works to fundamentally strengthen Colorado School of Mines. GUIDELINES Donors who make annual gifts of $1,000 or more through the Colorado School of Mines Foundation by June 30 each year are recognized with President’s Council Membership. Gifts may be made in many forms, and matching gift contributions are applied toward membership in the Council. Hill introduced a smelting process that has been credited with saving the Colorado economy during the difficult years of 1873-1876.
