YOURSELF
w
e recently ran a story on weddingbells.ca
tackling the subject of wedding splurges.
When to save and when to spend is probably
the number one query we receive and there is no right or
wrong answer—it comes down to what’s important to you
personally and which elements you really want to shine.
Each of the Weddingbells editors has a very different
take on where they think it is important to spend the big
wedding bucks. Associate Editor Roseanne Dela Rosa picks
food and drink. “Every amazing wedding I’ve attended and
written about highlights food and drink as a top priority,”
she shares. Online Executive Editor Jen O’Brien says great
photography is a must. “Your wedding day is going to go by
in a flash and the images will become priceless mementos
of the time you spent with all of your favourite people.”
I’m a proponent of OTT flowers and an otherworldly
dress. Flowers totally make a wedding by creating a mood
and adding luxurious drama to your decor. As for the dress,
your wedding day is your Cinderella, red-carpet moment—
and you don’t want to feel anything less than incredible
going to the ball, right?
On the subject of gowns, this issue we are showcasing
some dazzling dresses shot on location at two amazing and
vastly different bucket-list destinations. For “White Haute”
(p.125), the vibe is tropical-luxe, featuring statement dresses
shot against the lush and palm-filled backdrop of the
spectacular Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney
World Resort. We then travelled to the heart of the Irish
midlands for “Far & Away” (p.152), where we found the
perfect location to photograph grand, glorious gowns in
the exclusive Ballyfin Demesne—one of the most opulent
Regency mansions in Ireland. I guarantee both stories will
not only inspire your choice of wedding dress, but your
honeymoon destination, too!
Also in this issue: the freshest, most fabulous reception
themes (the prettiness starts on p.100); a couture-inspired
wedding cake (“Take a Bow” p.97); the best wedding makeup
(“Au Naturel” p. 84); and a stellar roundup of romantic travel
destinations, including Switzerland, the Bahamas and the
South Pacific (p.163).
Follow us on social @weddingbellsmag so you don’t

where we’re going and what ideas are inspiring us. As always,
we love to hear from you and how you’re planning your day,
so please get in touch!
