Super Chevy 2016
Super Chevy 2016 is in the books! We had a HUGE turn out. There were over 300 cars
registered for the car show alone! And that doesn’t include the cars racing, the car corral, or the
swap meet participants. It was covered up!
MCCC was well represented! We even won ‘Best Car Club’! Numerous members won awards
and Super Chevy jackets. You’re sure to see one at the next meeting or car cruise!
Here are a few pictures of some of the winners…..

Super Chevy Show 2016
Memphis International Raceway and TEN: The Enthusiast Network
celebrated the 30th running of the Super Chevy Show over the weekend and the
fans showed up in record numbers for the three-day event. The world's largest Chevy
automotive event featured drag racing action, a premiere car and truck show, sold out swap
meet, car corral, vendor midway and much more.
In addition to the on-track action, hundreds of people came out to compete in the car and
truck show on Saturday and Sunday. Participants from all over the country brought out their
pristine vehicles to be judged in class awards, Super Chevy Magazine editors picks, specialty
awards as well as best in class awards from nationally acclaimed judges. Select participants
were even chosen to be featured in Super Chevy Magazine throughout the remainder of the
year.
In an interview with Pam Hendrick, Vice President and General Manager of MIR, she stated
how much she appreciated the Memphis Classic Chevy Club and its volunteers for all they do
at MIR events. She sends out “a huge thank you” to its members and volunteers.
As a result, Super Chevy Show is donating $500 to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home.
This is exactly why MCCC volunteers step up!

We Love Our New Cruise-In Location!!!!
Our MCCC Officers have worked hard to secure a new cruise-in location.
OUR NEW CRUISE-IN LOCATION IS AT
Café 4210 at 4210 ALTURIA at Egypt Central. Barry Holbrook, the owner, former club member, and a car
guy, is so excited to have us and is bending over backward to make it a great experience! He owns the
entire shopping center, including Café 4210. Café 4210 is open for us on Thursday nights. The food is
delicious and Barry, Christina, and Heather do a fabulous job!
The new location offers:
1) Limited access points
2) Bartlett Reserve police officers to monitor activity and address any issues that might come up
3) Large parking area to accommodate large numbers of cars
4) Most of the businesses are closed in the evenings, except Café 4210 (and Southern Vintage Co.,
ladies!), which will be open for us!
5) Café 4210 -Great menu, great prices, great food!
6) Gas station/convenience store next door
7) Lots of shade trees scattered throughout the lot
8) Beautiful setting, calm atmosphere, great gathering place!
We want to encourage you to support Mr. Holbrook’s business on other days, as well. They are open
Tuesday-Saturday, 7a-2p. He will be working hard to accommodate us…
It is only right that we support his efforts!
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone there!
Cruise-In Rules & Guidelines
We’re all here to have fun and enjoy our vehicles! Just a few reminders to keep it safe, enjoyable, and family friendly:
No Cones, Please!
Pick up after yourself! There will be receptacles located around the parking lot.
No smoky burnouts, speeding, or other unsafe activities.
Keep your words sweet– You may have to eat them! (No foul language)
Cruise in Times are from 5pm until 9pm - BPD will have 2 officers there from 5p-9p and
will clear the lot at 9.
No Alcohol - Don’t really need to explain this one, do we? :-)
See You On Thursday!!!

We really want to encourage you to support Café 4210 for all they are doing for Memphis Classic
Chevy Club. They are welcoming us with open arms and are bending over backwards to make our
Cruise-Ins positive, family oriented experiences.
We each can reciprocate by dining there each at Thursday at the Cruise In. We keep saying this, but the

They are open Tuesday—Saturday for breakfast and lunch. Go to www.Cafe4210.com and check out
their menu! They’ve got sliders and paninis and tacos and omelets and more!
In Our Thoughts & Prayers
Please keep Greg Friend’s family in your prayers. Greg passed away last month. He was been a member and
supporter of MCCC for many years.
Also, Teri Hodnett’s brother, Gary Young, has cancer and will be having more surgery. He is having financial
problems and has a GoFundMe page if anyone feels led to donate. Your prayers and donations will be very
much appreciated.
Teri Hodnett has been hospitalized due to swelling in her face and neck areas. Please pray the doctors will
be able to determine why this has happened more than once.

BowtieBuzz Members of the Month
Tom & Betty Wright
Tom & Betty bought their ‘55 Bel-Air in 1975 while living in Colorado. They
are the 2nd owners. They drove it for 10 years. In ‘76 they moved back to
New Jersey where they are from. They started their frame-off restoration in
‘88. They were transferred to Memphis in ‘89, so they put the parts in the car,
taped the windows in, and put it on a hauler! They both did all the work from
the mechanical to the interior to the paint. They completed it in ‘94.
They also own a ‘65 Chevelle SS. Tom had owned a brand new one in ‘65,
which he sold after being drafted. It took 40 years to find another one that
was almost identical!
When they first moved to Memphis, they came across the Memphis Classic
Chevy Club displaying their cars at the new Serra Chevrolet car lot. They
stopped in and talked to several club members. At the next club meeting,
they joined MCCC!
Beautiful, aren’t they?
