Door County 2014 - Prairie Coach Trailways
PO Box 125 Dell Rapids, SD 57022 (605) 428-4777 Door County Day 1: You’ll meet new friends today as you board the bus headed to Wisconsin. We’ll stop along the way before reaching our overnight destination in Rothschild, WI. Day 2: We’ll depart Rothschild and head directly to Sturgeon Bay, WI, to meet our step-on guide. We shall continue North “off the beaten path” as we learn the history of the quaint little villages that make up this “Cape Cod of the Midwest.” Stops to include the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, Koepesel’s Farm Market, Quarry Park , Bjorklunden on Lake Michigan and much more! We’ll have dinner at an authentic Swedish restaurant (dinner is on Prairie Coach tonight, so enjoy!). Overnight Sturgeon Bay. Day 3: We will start today with a brief tour of the Door County Maritime Museum on Sturgeon Bay’s Waterfront to better understand the Peninsula’s rich maritime heritage and enhance our visit. Then we are off aboard the Ferry for a guided tour of Washington Island. Enjoy a bakery treat at the Danish Mill. View one of the most spectacular surface features in eastern Wisconsin, the Niagara Escarpment or “The Ledge” as it is called locally. It is a steep, westward-facing cliff that rises out of the glacial drift. Also, a tour of the beautiful Norwegian Stave Chapel to highlight the day. Enjoy lunch at a quaint island café - on us! We will also explore the sod-roofed Norwegian buildings in the downtown area and skip a stone at the School House Beach in historic Washington Harbor. On our way back to Sturgeon Bay, we’ll stop to savor an authentic “fish boil” dinner at the Old Post Office restaurant, an experience found only in Door County, and certain to be one of your favorite memories of the tour. You’ll savor the “experience” as well as this worldfamous dish! And it’s all on us! Overnight Sturgeon Bay. Day 4: As we leave Sturgeon Bay and travel toward Wisconsin Dells, we’ll stop to see the famous Larson Clydesdales and the behind-thescene action and work involved in caring for the champion giants! Enjoy a stop at the Rippin Good Cookie outlet store to stock up on goodies. Once in Wisconsin Dells, it’s off to the Tommy Bartlett Water Ski-Sky-Stage Show for an evening full of thrills & water antics. Overnight Wisconsin Dells. Day 5: This morning we will board one of the WWII “Ducks” for a boat tour of the Upper Dells. Spend a little time at the Tanger Outlet Mall in the Dells. This evening dinner will be on Prairie Coach before heading to the Rick Wilcox Magic Theatre. The Grand Illusion Show features original fast-paced illusions that keep this aweinspiring show fresh and fun. Overnight Wisconsin Dells. Day 6: It’s hard to believe, but our tour of scenic Wisconsin is almost over. We’re homeward bound today, taking with us memories of delightful times. Happy Trails!
