Effective Performance Management and Personnel Do’s & Don’ts
with Richard Davis, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, Founder of McClain Group
What would your business look like if 100 percent of your employees came to work every day with the
goal of reaching their full potential and helping their teammates reach their full potential? What would
your business look like if 100 percent of your employees were fully engaged in their jobs? (Employee
engagement is when employees are committed to their organization’s goals and values, motivated to
contribute to organizational success, and are able at the same time to enhance their own sense of wellbeing.) Seem like a dream? The result of effective performance management is having highly productive
employees, effective teams, and talent management strategies in place to maximize the performance
of each employee. This session will provide easy to implement talent management strategies to create
opportunities for effective performance management. The session will also cover potential changes to
wage and hour and employment laws that could impact your business. The session will also cover the
challenges of managing a multi-generational workforce and Do’s and Don’ts in personnel management.

Patient Outcomes: Surviving & Thriving in the Era of the Affordable Care Act
with Bob Messenger BS, RRT, FAARC, Manager, Respiratory Clinical Education, Invacare Corporation
(sponsored by Invacare Corporation)
Provisions within the Affordable Care Act are forcing hospitals to reform many aspects of patient care.
Many of these reforms are visible today in the form of an improved patient experience, better patient
education and expanded follow-up efforts. There are also efforts that are less visible, yet they will be
the driving force behind how hospitals will manage patient care in the not too distant future. Anything
and anyone that can affect readmission will be measured, including providers of durable medical
equipment. This presentation looks at some of the provisions driving hospitals to reinvent how they
manage care and offers some insight into how this will impact future DME referrals.
Objectives:
• Be able to explain the dynamics of Quality Based Purchasing
• Identify the actions hospitals are taking in response to ACA mandates
• Explain the potential consequences of hospital data mining on future DME referrals
• Identify actions that can be taken to best position your company for future growth in the face of these
change
