Here’s What Others Are Saying About Jimmy D’s….
“Jim, I just got the jigs and am looking forward to fishing them. I must say, I have
ordered jigs from multiple custom tiers throughout the years and mess with some tying
myself and your jigs are the best I have seen. Respectfully,
- Chris S. ~ Oct. 2016
--------------------------------------------------------------“In the weeks since I received the first batch of Riverbugs you sent I've caught more fish
per outing on those feather/hair spinner baits you made than I've ever caught on my
traditional spinner baits. You do great work.”
- Brad from NH ~ Sept 2016
--------------------------------------------------------------“I’ve never fished a “hair jig” made outside of the US
or Canada that was worth a darn. Seems like only
expert North American tiers understand how to select
quality materials and adjust the amount of material to
achieve a properly balanced jig.
I started tying my own jigs 40 years ago, but
eventually got away from it as demands on my spare
time increased. Today, I obtain most of my hand-tied
hair jigs from master-tier Jim DeZurik who does
business as Jimmy D’s River Bugs out of Minnesota
(www.jimmydsriverbugs.com). Jim is a very skilled tier,
offering a wide variety of hand-tied creations. But if
you want something special, send Jim a prototype
sample and he will custom tie the pattern you desire.

accompanying photo.”
- Darl Black
--------------------------------------------------------------“Hey Jim, I just placed another order.
Killed it with the Black Scruffy, 3 smallies in the first 1/2 hour!
Then I hooked a stump and had to cut my line, I almost cried.
Any way I'm back for another! Great product thanks man!
- Rob S. (May 2016)
“Fishing with inferior hair jigs from the major dealers was all I knew. Finding Jimmy
online changed all that!
His hair jigs are beyond my greatest expectations.
His original river bugs are absolute slayers of bass. His hooks never bend in the heat of
battle. The paint holds better than any jig I ever used. And he has a full line of colors
that I can choose from. I live in Connecticut where the fishing pressure is heavy to say
the least. His jigs give me a definite advantage over my fellow fishermen. (Hope nobody
from Ct. reads this!!) Thank you for everything Jimmy. You not only tie an incredible jig
you are a great person.”
- Tom A. (See Tom’s cluster of fish photos in Gallery #6)

“Jimmy that is the best compliment a business can have today. Demand
overtaking supply.
At one time many years ago there were all kinds of US based companies making
hand tied quality jigs. Then it went offshore and duality levels decreased
tremendously. Anglers today are so used to lower quality jigs they don't realize
how a US kitty tied jig can make a huge difference on ones strikes. I have
ordered from you before and your work speaks volumes about your company
and attention to detail. Obviously, others are realizing it as well and this causes
the demand.
Your jigs IMO are the best on the market today.
Good to see a small dedicated entrepreneur having a product where demand
exceeds supply. I have no doubt that there is not a lazy bone in your body!!!”
-Jim F
“Dear Jimmy D,
I've fallen in love with your
jigs. I've been tearing up the smallmouth all summer with river bugs! I
attached a couple pictures of a 3.5
lb. smallie I caught today in a small
local river here in Ohio. I caught
her on an 1/8 oz. watermelon
Bearded River Bug with a SK baby
rage craw trailer. It's my personal
best in the local rivers. I really
appreciate the quality and attention
to detail that you put into your jigs.
When I catch my next PB on a river
bug I'll send you the picture...
Thanks Jimmy D,”
- Matt
--------------------------------------------------------------“Jim, had a friend who had company and they wanted a northern Wisconsin beer batter
fish fry/. Cold front was in and chips were down.
Like I say, not every lake is a jig lake and not every day is a jig day but every day is a
fish fry when you use Jimmy D's baits...”

Jimmy,
Here's a picture my
four fish, total
weight 26 pounds.
There is a fish not

29 inches long.
Thank you buddy
for some great Jigs!

“This is me on the Susquehanna River with a
twenty incher. She bit on a white river bug
3/8 oz thrown onto a shallow ledge we pulled
in 30 plus fish largest being 21 1/2. The
green river bug worked well too marabou
jigs are awesome and a favorite of mine any
time of year.” - Michael P. (Nov. 2014)
“Jim, received the spinner baits I ordered (+ 1 thank you very much) and Jigs. Fine looking
pieces of art they are.
Reading through the Fall issue of the North American Fisherman, I came upon the article
Ageless Hair. I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see you praised and quoted. I had no
idea I was a customer of such a renowned artist. I can tell from your humble attitude and
personal touch that you are truly a Gentle Man
Thank you very much,” – LaMoyne
Max, 14 years old, is on his way to becoming
a GREAT fisherman.
I, as the owner of Jimmy D’s River Bugs have
never even caught a Small Mouth that big.
“Jim over the past couple months this summer I have
been able to throw your black River Bug In both the
Mississippi and the Platte River. Thus far not only have
I caught more small mouth this season, I was also able
to land my new personal best small mouth, a 23 inch
brute! Thanks so much for the quality jigs.”
- Sincerely Max
Jimmy D.,
I caught these Kings on your Black
Marabou Jigs. Great time! Thanks for the
very effective jigs.
- Jeff S. (Alaska) ~ July 15, 2014
Hi Jim,
I just wanted to send you a quick email letting you
know how your pike streamers worked in Canada this
past week. Both the all white and the black/orange
worked great. You really nailed the weight of the
hook/lead to feather ratio. They had a very slight
sinking action when held still yet they still glided
through the water nicely. The added weight over last
year’s model really helped casting them out further.
- Thanks again, Shawn
Walleye Weenie Jigs - They catch fish!!!
(Photo at right) Over the last 3 years, my friends and I started
using Walleye Weenie jigs and have had great success catching
walleye, northern and even some big crappie. They are especially
deadly when tipped with a minnow. My personal favorite colors
are the new silver fox "furry critter", white, green chartreuse and
orange. They are the real deal!
Larry G.
Just wanted to
say how much I
love your spinner baits and show you my 31+ inch
walleye I caught! My good buddy Dan gave me
several of your lures to try out and I'm super
impressed. We were filling the livewell up with
northerns the other day when this monster hit one of
your 1/2 oz pearl/lemon pepper spinner baits. We
certainly didn't expect to see a trophy walleye up in
the flooded timber but she sure did like that spinner
bait. Your lures run true and have excellent action.
I'm also impressed with the heavy thump you get
with the blades on your spinners. Your products are first class!
- Jeffrey, June 9th, 2013
Jim, I hammered the LM and Northern today on this
spinnerbait you made me while my buddy in the back casting a
store bought double bladed white spinnerbait got blanked.. I'm
a believer and really love these baits. Will be ordering plenty
more in the future.
Thanks –Jeremy
Hi jimmy I used a black hair jig to
weed thru a school of 2-3 pounders then switched to a swim jig to catch
this bruiser - thanks for all the great lures, excellent quality!
What I love about your products is the quality of the
hand tied baits. The spinnerbait is my favorite, I get
such a great vibration through my line/pole, I know the fish are getting it too. I just got my
personal best Smallmouth on the Brown/Ginger spinner while walking the banks of a small creek
near days end. So whether I'm in the river wading, kayaking or just walking the banks, I always
have my River Bugs with me, thank you for the great products!
- Jim S.
Our family has competed since 2001 for the biggest LM Bass
caught on the same chain of three lakes. We know these waters
inside and out and have put some decent fish sizes on the trophy.
Since a couple of us started fishing with the Jimmy Ds line of River
Bugs we have been blown away by the quality of fish we are now
putting in the boat. The larger fish have always been there I'm
sure but we are finally putting something in front of them that
works. It's fascinating. In seasons past the rule of thumb was that
the winner for the year had everything locked up by mid-June.
Jimmy Ds River Bugs have broken all of the rules. We have found
our love for LM Bass fishing all over again.
- Greg D.
The Walleye Weenie Jigs are really heating up now though - Here’s a
nice one from Sunday! The fish measure 27”. When I was talking to
Steve this morning, I was tellin’ him how abused that jig was. It’d
been snagged in the rocks, pulled out, hook rebent, and smacked by
fish over and over. Despite all that, it’s still tied on the line right now
and will be put back to the fish catching test tomorrow afternoon!

Jim,
Last weekend my son (Jimmy D's
grandson) and I had the
opportunity to go looking for
some early summer South Dakota
crappies. From previous experiences we brought these jigs
high through the water column and the first few
crappies soon showed up. As the weekend went
on the "Weenie Jigs" produced fish 2 to 1 over
our live bait presentations. These jigs have
proven to be very versatile in the sense that they
can be used as a finesse tactic or like most any
other jig you are accustomed to using.
-Jon
& Nick
Jimmy D.,
You talked with
my dad last week
- he ordered a
bunch of spinner
baits from you. I caught this 46"-er on a 1/2 oz. jig with a black
head, purple skirt and silver accent. I was rigged up for
northern, so my equipment was light and I didn't have a net or cradle to land it; just fought it
until it couldn't move anymore and dragged it over the side of the boat. Pretty cool experience!
Heading back this summer and hope to top this fish on another Jimmy D spinner! Thanks for
your good work,
- Kevin K.
Hi Jim –
I wanted to share a couple of pictures from Canada with you. The two
smallies below were just a few of the 80 plus smallies that I caught one
day on your olive and black jigs! Ed and I had at least 14 doubles that
day. We figure we caught over 130 fish. Ed was slip bobbering with
leeches until I had 21 fish (on your jigs) to his 7 fish on leeches. It was
a VERY good day of fishing... almost surreal. Thanks so much.
Sincerely, -Mike (Photo to the right)
Jim –
Note that the jig is still in its mouth! This
fish was a beauty. I caught my personal
best two days earlier... a tad over 20". Unfortunately, we left the
camera back at camp. However, this little piggie is a wonderful
example of just how good your jigs work. Once again, thanks so
much. Sincerely, (Photo to the left)
-Mike
I rely on the Jimmy D’s River Bugs to
put fish in my boat. Heavilypressured Bass are easily fooled into
eating a River Bug, even under the
toughest of conditions. For me, there's
no better hand-tied hair jig. Jimmy D's hair jigs are truly works of
art for all fishermen, whether they be Bass, Walleye or Pike anglers.
You'll not find a better built or better looking bait on the market.
When the fishing gets tough, tie on a Jimmy D’s River Bug and hang
on. (Photo to the right) –Thomas, In-Depth Outdoors Pro-Staff
Jimmy D's spinner bait came through with a "bailout plan" in a
fall tournament to pull some cash. Heavy rain & overcast
conditions created an ideal opportunity for the spinner bait.
Jimmy D's spinner bait is easy to cast in the wind and it never
misses a beat! It’s become my go to bait when I need to cover
water. (Photo to the right)
-Scott D.
Jimmy D's weenie jigs have accounted for more big river walleyes
for my customers and I in the months of May and June than any
other than any other bait!

Hi Jim,
As promised, one of my priorities upon getting back on the river
was to whack a few river brown bass on River Bugs, and to pass
along a photo. So find one attached from today's outing. The bass
are moving up on the spawning flats, prime for a properly
presented 'bug. Hope you are sore-mouthing a few. Later...

Cody and I were tooling around
through a incredibly large area of
slack water and saw (3) respectable
fish tooling around. They were
incredibly moody, I threw the farm at
them and nothing with what I currently had tied on up in my arsenal
would work. So I re-tied on with a Black River Bug and bang, bang,
bang. Picked up all 3 fish.
Cody had a blast, I would work the fish, set the hook and hand the rod
to him. Thanks, (Photo to the left) - Mike
