This year the New Bedford Folk Festival celebrates 21 years of bringing the
finest traditional, contemporary, Americana, Celtic, British Isles, Blues and
Bluegrass folk musicians from around the U. S. and the world to New Bedford.
The seven festival stages range from the historic 1200 seat Zeiterion Performing Arts Center to an intimate “Meet the Performer” stage. In addition
to concerts, the festival features two dozen music workshops which bring
together multiple performers and groups on stage to create music shows and
extravaganzas. Along with the music, enjoy the more than 90 national and
international artisan crafts and food offerings including New Bedford landed

New Bedford’s holiday season kicks off with countless activities including
shopping, crafts, performances and fire truck rides. Families, couples
and friends fill the streets, shops and restaurants enjoying the unique

Catch the holiday spirit on the New Bedford Preservation Society’s 25th
Annual Holiday House Tour December 10 (4-8 PM) and 11 (1-5 PM). Starting
point for both tours will be the Wamsutta Club, 427 County Street, where a
pre-tour brunch will be held on Sunday, December 11 (11 to 1 PM) and where
the Holiday Raffle and Silent Auction will be held during tour hours. Feel the
presence of the past as you visit private historic residences, all beautifully

Arthur Moniz Gallery
22 William St. For over 40 years internationally noted artist, Arthur Moniz, has
created the largest collection of Whaling paintings and prints of this scenic
historic area. He is a signature member of American Society of Marine
Artists. Arthur was invited by the New Bedford Whaling Museum in 2014 and
2015 to create two commemorative paintings of the Charles W. Morgan. The
gallery contains paintings of whaling scenes, our fishing fleet and landscapes.
The gallery contains unique gifts, scrimshaw, sailor’s valentines, antiques,

133 William St. Originally built in 1857 as the library, it was reconstructed between 1906-1912. It is home to one of the oldest continually operating public
elevators in the United States. The Otis elevator is a unique elaborate cast

Nathan And Mary (Polly) Johnson House
21 Seventh St. Among the city’s best known black abolitionists of the 1800s,
the Johnson’s sheltered Frederick Douglass and his wife, Anna, when they
fled north from slavery in 1838. Constructed circa 1800, the house is an
Underground Railroad site and a National Historic Landmark. The Johnson
House is home to the New Bedford Historical Society, Inc. Learn about the

15 Johnny Cake Hill. Built in 1830, the Bethel was the setting for the famous
chapter in Moby-Dick in which Father Mapple preaches his sermon on
