Unmistakeable design, innovative technology. With a record-breaking bore of 116 mm, the new Superquadro engine packs a mighty 205 hp / 144.6 Nm punch. All in a dry weight of just 166.5 kg. Cutting-edge electronics maximise safety and control. The Bosch inertial platform constantly adjusts the action of Cornering ABS, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and, on the S version, the Öhlins Smart EC suspension system too. And there’s more: Ducati Traction Control, Engine Braking Control and Ducati Quick Shift for clutchless upshifts and downshifts. 3 MORE POWERFUL THAN EVER The new 1,285 cc Ducati Superquadro, the world’s most advanced, most powerful twin. First class materials. Racingclass engineering solutions. Inimitable Desmodromic timing. Thanks to the new exhaust system, a massive 116 mm bore and 60.8 mm stroke, the new Superquadro pumps out 205 hp at 10,500 rpm. A whole new twin-cylinder power standard, giving you 144.6 Nm of torque at 8,750 rpm. 5 THE ESSENCE OF LIGHTNESS A concentrate of form and function. The aluminium monocoque chassis is revolutionary, essential and ultra-light. It uses the Superquadro engine as a loadbearing element, cutting weight, boosting strength and enhancing handling. A revised rear swingarm pivot position gives the Panigale optimal rear tyre grip and the headstock rake has now been reduced by half a degree for even greater cornering agility. 7 RIDER-CENTRED ELECTRONICS The new 1299 Panigale is innovation personified. The Bosch Inertial Measurement Unit, a system of accelerometers and gyroscopes that measures changes in bike attitude and the rate at which they occur, feeds vital info to the electronic control systems. The outcome? Effective ABS even when cornering. Ducati Wheelie Control that limits front wheel lift for breath-taking acceleration in complete safety. And, on the S version, the event-based Öhlins Smart EC suspension system actually adapts the dampers to the various stages of riding: the result is increased grip and stability, consequently improved braking and turn-in performance, smoother steering and enhanced comfort. 11 TOTAL CONTROL With three Riding Modes, the new 1299 Panigale maximises thrills and safety. Pre-defined yet rider-adjustable settings let you tweak engine power and fluidity just the way you like thanks to Full Ride-by-Wire. That means you control the sensitivity of Ducati Traction Control, Ducati Wheelie Control, ABS Cornering, Engine Brake Control, Ducati Quick Shift and, on the S version, the Öhlins Smart EC suspension too. Easily letting you squeeze every last drop of potential from the awesome Ducati Superquadro, whatever the ride conditions. 13 OUT-OF-THIS WORLD DESIGN Unmistakeably modern, aerodynamic design. A masterful blend of panache and performance. Born out of a tradition that has seen Ducati win major design awards, such as the prestigious Compasso d’Oro, the new 1299 Panigale is the essence of style. A wider nose fairing with oversized air intakes lets you enjoy greater aerodynamic protection and boosts airflow to the engine. At the rear, a two-part tail makes the styling razor sharp. 15 THE QUEST FOR PERFECTION The new 1299 Panigale comes with Brembo evo M50 monobloc calipers and Pirelli tyres. The “S” version features Öhlins Smart EC electronic suspension, ultra-light Marchesini forged wheels and full LED headlamps. And the Panigale R, designed to be unleashed on the track, sports the stunning Akrapovič titanium exhaust and other top-notch engine components. Superb equipment, conscientious attention to detail, outstandingly precise construction. 17 19 EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE Built to handle both track and road. The 1299 Panigale S features the exclusive semi-active Öhlins Smart EC suspension system, which includes an electronic steering damper. Event Based mode ensures realtime adaptation of hydraulic suspension dampers to different stages of riding: making the switch from extreme on-track performance to safe, comfortable road riding instantaneous. Racing-type switchgear controls allow DTC, DWC and EBC system adjustment at the flick of a switch, letting you personalise the entire track experience. 21 R FOR RACING Panigale R. Off-the-scale riding thrills. 205 hp from a twin-cylinder engine within the confines of the 1,200 cc displacement imposed by Superbike regulations is impressive. Even more impressive is the speed with which the Superquadro ramps up the revs in this configuration. Road-legal, the R version sports Akrapovič titanium exhausts, Öhlins mechanical suspension, a Lithium-ion battery and an ultra-light headlamp to slash weight even further. Optimised geometry, a track-dedicated suspension set-up and Ducati Data Acquisition (DDA + GPS) with lean angle sensor complete the package: perfect for even the most demanding riders, who want a real racing bike, but with lights and number plate. 23 25 Technical data and gear 27 Dimensions Engine Transmission Superquadro: L-Twin cylinder, 4 valves per cylinder, Desmodromic, liquid cooled Clutch Displacement 1,285 cc Bore X stroke 116 x 60.8 mm Compression ratio 12.6:1 Power 150.8 kW (205 hp) @ 10,500 rpm Torque 144.6 Nm (106.7 lb-ft) @ 8,750 rpm Fuel injection Power and torque Power 205 hp Exhaust Torque 14,7 kgm Mitsubishi electronic fuel injection system. A big focus on even the tiniest details. Design and construction according to the highest quality standards. All factors that have produced an engine that is equally surprising when it comes to maintenance. On the new Ducati Superquadro, in fact, valve play only needs adjusting every 24,000 km. Quite an interval for such a high performance twin – but just what you expect from an engine that also keeps its promises in terms of reliability. 59 INDEX 91750060E Ducati Apparel Collection designed by Numbers that count 3 Key to symbols More powerful than ever 5 This product is intended for racing vehicles used only in closed-course The essence of lightness 7 competition.
