A Message from Your GM
Dear Members,
On behalf of Concert Golf Partners Chairman Peter Nanula, I want to announce that MacGregor Downs Country Club is
now a part of Pacific Links International worldwide network of clubs. This membership benefit gives you exclusive
playing privileges at TPC Clubs in the United States and at many other championship courses around the world.
Founded in 2009 in Canada, Pacific Links International is focused on implementing a plan whose main feature is reciprocal
access to multiple clubs around the world that have strong design and deliver a memorable golf experience. Pacific Links
owns or operates five courses in Hawaii, Las Vegas, California, and West Virginia and the reciprocal agreement includes
over 150 Clubs worldwide. Pacific Links is proud to have Ernie Els and Annika Sorenstam serve as International Brand
Ambassadors.
Members of Pacific Links Reciprocal Clubs are able to book tee times between 14 and 60 days in advance through
Cricket Russell in our membership office. MacGregor Downs members may play up to 4 times in a 30 day period per
club if traveling to those areas with preferred greens fee rates. Cart and/or caddie fees apply at all clubs. All tee time
reservations must be booked through the MacGregor Downs membership office, not directly with the destination club.
We will also periodically accommodate Pacific Links members traveling here to play golf at non-peak times.
Some of the Reciprocal Access golf courses include:
. TPC Clubs - Sawgrass, Piper Glen, Boston, River Highlands, San Antonio, Sugarloaf, Summerlin, etc.
. South Shore Golf Club - Las Vegas
. Dove Canyon - Los Angeles
. Royal Hawaiian GC - Oahu, HI
. Pete Dye GC - Bridgeport, WV
. Riverside Golf Club - Jakarta
. Laguna National G & CC - Singapore
. Twin Doves GC - Ho Chi Minh City
. Nirwana Bali Golf Club - Bali
. Riverdale Golf Club - Bangkok
. Bear Mountain - Kelwona, BC
This is just a partial list of available Affiliate and Reciprocal Clubs. More information about Pacific Links International and
a full list of clubs can be found at www.pacificlinks.com
The Pacific Links team and our Membership department are pleased to help you with this benefit when you travel to these
locations and have the opportunity to play golf at some fine courses around the globe.
Best Regards,

Congratulations to the Simpson family who have been members for 15 years! Their boys,

FROM THE
FAIRWAY
A Note From John Kauzlarich
What beautiful weather we had for the 2016 Clan Clash!
This year we had 96 participants, an increase of 16 over the
year before that came out to celebrate one of the most
popular events at MDCC. After day one, the MacGregor
Clan held a one point lead, but on day two the Downey
Clan came roaring back to defend their 2015 title, winning
by three points. The Downey Clan was captained by LPGA
Professional Joellyn Crooks. I reccommend for members old
and new to mark this on their calendar as it’s a mustparticipate event in 2017.
While you’re marking your calendar, go ahead and mark
down June 22-25 for the 2017 Tartan.
As we reach the dog days of summer, I look forward to
seeing you, if not on the links, at the swimming pool or at the
19th hole.
Cheers,
John Kauzlarich, PGA
LADIES GOLF
LPGA Professional Joellyn Crooks will be teaching a Women’s
Clinic Saturday, July 9th from 3 to 5 p.m. She will cover all
aspects of the game from putting to full swing and the cost is

will be held August 21st. The cost to participate is $100 per team and
includes a tee gift. There will be both 9 and 18 hole divisions. Carts
will not be available for this tournament.

golf. We will offer different formats to keep it interesting. Entry fee
includes food and prizes. $35 per team.
Junior Club Championship
August 6; $25 per participant.
This event is divided into six divisions:
18 hole boys and girls, 9 hole boys and girls, 4 hole boys and girls.

doubles teams and each doubles team will consist of players of two different ratings. August 6th
is the target date for the start of the USTA fall combo season. Please contact Director of Tennis
Shaun Romisher for additional details!
Home Pro League Match
We are excited to once again to host a Pro League match here at MDCC. We hope you will
join us on July 8th at 7 p.m. to cheer on team Mosquito Authority. MacGregor players include
Shaun Romisher, Kaitlyn Flaherty and Fiona Degnan. The pro league match will consist of 8
courts of Men’s, Women’s and Mixed doubles action. Other competitors include former Davis
Cup players, top D1 athletes and junior national champs. This event is free of charge.
The pool snack bar will be serving food and drinks.
The MacLobbers have been busy over the last couple of months. We
enjoyed one of our favorite events, Mixed Doubles on Saturday, May 21st,
and a little rain did not dampen our fun!
We had a full house for our MacLobbers Play Day on Wednesday, June 1st.
Prizes were awarded to the top two scorers on each court, and the ladies
enjoyed lunch in the 19th Hole after play.
Mark your calendars for these upcoming events!

The Bootleggers Daughter by Margaret Marron
Meeting July 7th, 6:30 p.m.
Attorney Deborah Knott is North Carolina's answer to V.I. Warshawski, a legal sleuth with a knack for sniffing out the most baffling
crimes. Deborah has just done the unthinkable-entered the heated race for judge of old-boy-ruled Colleton County. The only female
candidate, she's busy reeling in voters and giving campaign speeches. There couldn't be a worse time for Gayle Whitehead to beg
Deborah to investigate the 18-year-old, unsolved murder of Gayle's mother, Janie. Gayle wants the busy attorney to poke around
for any new clues the police may have missed all these years. Unlikely, thinks Deborah; until she discovers that not all the details of
Janie's case made it out of confidential police files. Filled with the patter of Southern voices and populated with a cast of colorful characters, Bootlegger's Daughter expertly unwinds a funny, cunningly-crafted tale of mystery and deceit in North Carolina's backwoods.
Circling the Sun by Paula McLain
Meeting August 11th, 6:30 p.m.
Circling the Sun brings to life a fearless and captivating woman- Beryl Markham,
a record-setting aviator, caught up in a passionate love triangle with safari hunter
Denys Finch Hatton and Karen Blixen.
Check out the website for information on other upcoming meetings.

3. The Pool Hours are located on the Pool/Fitness calendar on the full

4. Aerification will be held July 5-10. Aerification may seem inconvenient
initially, but it is a critical practice for turf health and having one aerification
with our new greens is far less disruptive than the three aerifications we had to
do with the old Bentgrass greens.
5. The Youth Room is equipped with chalkboard paint on the walls! Along
with using their creativity and drawing on the walls, member children and
guests can enjoy countless other activities at Kid’s Club.
