Figure Poster
Open the AvatarGirl image in Photoshop.
File > Save As > Photoshop Folder
2. FINISH Figure Poster
1) Find a LARGE image of an influential figure from past or present.
a. Select the person off of the background of the photo (Ctrl+J)
b. Increase the contrast of the figure. Image > Adjustments > Levels.
c. Convert the layer of the person to a Smart Object.
d. Place an Artistic > Cutout Filter on the figure. Adjust the Cutout settings until your figure
looks like the examples on the left.
e. Use a Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer to chance the colors of the person. Creating a
clipping mask of the adjustment layer onto the person layer.
f. Create a layer group using the adjustment layer & person layer.
2) Find LARGE, interesting Pattern images from Google.
a. Use the Polygonal Lasso tool to make geometric selections of the patterns.
b. Crtl+C, Ctrl+V the pattern selections into the background of the Figure Poster.
c. Convert the 4 pattern layers into Smart Objects.
d. Place a different Filter of each of the patterns.
e. Use Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer (Clipping Mask) to match the colors of the
patterns to the figure in the foreground. (See Example #2)
3) TEXT
a. Place a word that describes your person beneath their face.
b. Place Layer Styles, Drop Shadow, Bevel & Emboss… on the text.
3. GOLD
1) Follow the steps in this tutorial to create GOLDEN TEXT using Your Name
2) File > Save As > Golden Text

b. Create a desktop design for our school that uses all the complex skills we’ve
learned so far, and uses a School Spirit Theme.

Photoshop Certification Test Practice:
1. Go to START menu > Programs > Certiprep ACA.
2. Enter Last Name, First Name
 Choose: Practice Test
 Choose: Visual Communication using Photoshop
3. Read instructions and click “PROCEED”
4. Complete the practice activity.
5. View your score as a Screen Display.
6. When you receive a 90%, use the Snipping Tool ( ) in the Start
Menu ( ) to take a picture of your score, and SAVE in your
Photoshop folder.
Name: Photoshop Pass 1 (2,3)
7. 3 Scores of 90% or higher = you’re ready to take the Official
Certification Test. 
