WORKSHOP OFFERINGS
Engage in the art of recycling and upcycling through our Spring 2015
workshop offerings.
The Eileen Fisher Community Foundation invites you to join us for our Spring 2015 workshop offerings. Explore the
beauty found in turning the old new again and support sustainability with every stitch.
Using third-life garments provided by the GREEN EILEEN recycling initiative and taught by trained artisans, our
workshops provide you with all of the tools needed to create beautiful products for yourself or your home.
During this Spring 2015 season, we also invite you to explore the EILEEN FISHER Makers Space, a new initiative
that will deepen our connection to upcycled crafting and provide a space to further explore the possibilities of
sustainable arts.

FABRIC-COVERED BUTTON JEWELRY
Learn how to create one-of-a-kind textile
jewelry pieces using covered buttons
and upcycled materials. Participants will
be shown how to cover button forms and
assemble into a necklace using a variety
of recycled EILEEN FISHER fabrics
and yarns, as well as buttons, snaps,
zippers, etc. Each participant will leave
with at least one necklace of their own
design. For all skill levels, basic sewing
skills helpful but not required. Instructor:

RUG MAKING CRISPINA METHOD
Applying Crispina Ffrench’s potholder
rug method, learn the process of
upcycling EILEEN FISHER garments to
create a simple yet beautiful hand-woven
rug. Instructor: Carolina Bedoya.

SWEATER REPAIR WORKSHOP
Learn how to bring your old sweaters
back to life! Participants will learn how to
repair pulls, snags, and holes in knitted
garments. Recycled EILEEN FISHER
sweaters will be provided for learning
repair techniques or bring your own
well-loved sweater for help with specific
problems. For all skill levels, basic
sewing skills helpful but not required.
Instructor: Kristin Eksuzian.
SHIBORI DYEING
Learn the centuries-old Japanese
method of dyeing cloth by binding,
stitching, folding, twisting, and
compressing through demonstration and
hands-on application. Utilizing recycled
materials, participants will create their
own shibori piece. Participants may also
bring their own (light colored) washable
silk garment to refresh with a shibori
design. Instructor: Jean Wasil.

YARN-WRAPPED CUFF BRACELETS
Participants will be shown how to make
one- of-a-kind bracelets using a simple
wrapping technique with recycled
EILEEN FISHER yarns. Each participant
will leave with at least one bracelet of
their own design. For all skill levels, basic
sewing skills helpful but not required.
Instructor: Kristin Eksuzian.
TABLE RUNNERS AND TOPPERS
Setting a stylish table is easy with
colorful handmade runners and toppers.
Learn how to upcycle EILEEN FISHER
garments to create a unique decorative
piece for the table. Participants will be
encourage to apply and explore their
own decorative style while repurposing
silk, linen, wool and alpaca. For all skill
levels, basic sewing skills helpful but not
required. Instructor: Carolina Bedoya.

TOTE BAGS
Learn how to make a simple tote bag
from recycled fabrics. All you need
is some EILEEN FISHER recycled
fabric and thread. In this workshop,
participants will mix and match linens
and cottons to make a fun bag.
Instructor: Tina Doyle.
POUFS
Learn how to create a Moroccan-style
pouf from recycled materials. A pouf is
part seat, part ottoman, part table. It’s
so easy to make and makes a great
accent piece for kids room, den or office.
Participants will select from a variety of
our recycled fabrics and “patch” them
together using either a sewing machine
or a decorative hand stitch. Once the
fabric has been created it can then be
stitched into a “pouf” and filled with
shredded fabrics. Instructor: Tina Doyle.

MEET OUR ARTISANS
CAROLINA BEDOYA is an artisan
educated at SUNY Purchase with a
degree in Arts. Since 2010, he has
facilitated upcycled craft workshops
for the Eileen Fisher Leadership
Institute for the past four years and
currently coordinates the third-life
program at GREEN EILEEN.
KRISTIN EKSUZIAN is a textile
designer educated at the Rhode
Island School of Design and the
Fashion Institute of Technology. She
has expertise in machine knitting
and hand knitting, crocheting, and
fabric manipulation techniques and
combines them with her endless
well of creativity to produce unique
and beautiful wearable art. She
currently resides in Brooklyn, NY.
TINA DOYLE is a certified
member of the National Guild,
UK, for couture pattern making,
fitting, draping, and tailoring, and
holds degree in 3-D Design from
Manchester University, UK. She
specializes in draping, fitting,
sewing, and pattern making, and
has done extensive work in fashion
and interior design in the UK and
US. She teaches sewing, draping,
and pattern-making methods and
techniques in New York City and
Westchester County, New York, for
novice- to advanced-level students.
JEAN WASIL is a graduate of the
Rhode Island School of Design with
a degree in Textile Design. Her
career in fashion print has included
positions as both designer and art
director, producing textile designs
for Anthropologie, Armani, BCBG,
Billabong, Calvin Klein, Diane Von
Furstenberg, Target, and Gap, to
name a few.
