F. Reshetnev together with Tomsk State University (TSU) and Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) – development of electronic modules based on the system-on-crystal technology that are used in space communication equipment, navigation systems and ERS sensors; – Research Institute of Semiconductor Devices together with TSU and TUSUR – development of high efficient and reliable light sources and light devices and their batch production. Since 2013 together with Energy Aerospace Corporation and Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ISPMS SB RAS) TPU is involved in development and implementation of high-efficient technology to produce casing elements of aerospace equipment of a new generation. Together with KORMZ TPU carries out a megaproject on the development and manufacturing of geokhod – a mining machine for subsurface construction. TPU is one of the founders of Siberian Ceramics, a nonprofit partnership for research and innovation (coordinated by SB RAS), Tomsk Atomic Centre and Tomsknanotekh, a multiagency nanotechnology centre. 19 RESEARCH Annually, TPU executes about one hundred international contracts and grants that worth more than $5 million, which allows the university to take a leading position among other universities of the Russian Federation. Do you know that – TPU has the only educational and research nuclear reactor in the Asian part of Russia. 60 million rubles is allocated to youth science where over 70% comes from programmes and grants. More than 90 TPU students and young researchers implement their innovative projects in the framework of the U.M.N.I.K. programme. Putin as the Prime Minister of the RF Government in 2012, which never happened before in the history of the university. 29 INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION TPU is the only Russian university that is a member of 11 prestigious international organisations, including Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering Education and Research (СESAER) and Consortium of Leading European and Asian Technical Universities (CLUSTER). More than 90% of young specialists are distributed to industrial companies upon their requests. Annually, the demand for TPU Specialists and Masters is 1.5 – 1.7 times higher than the number of its graduates. TPU takes the 1st place among institutions of higher and secondary professional education that provide help in job placement of their graduates Do you know that –more than 500 companies and organisations are regular consumers of TPU additional educational services. 33 UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE On 21 December 2013 the Nobel Prize winner Dan Shekhtman signed the service contract with Tomsk Polytechnic University. He became the head of a new TPU structure – International Research Council. 34 In 2010 by the decision of the Assembly of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University TPU Endowment Foundation was established – a non-profit trust fund intended to finance university educational, scientific and cultural projects. The first people who donated to this foundation in 2010 were the RF President Dmitry Medvedev, political and public leaders of the country and the region. A number of searches in the collection exceeds 537 thousand annually or 15 hundred daily. In the Sochi Winter Olympic Games Anna Mirtova, a TPU graduate, raced for the Russian national team in a slopestyle skiing, one of the youngest and most spectacular winter events. PUBLIC INITIATIVES In 2010 TPU won the competition among Russian universities to become a centre of attraction of volunteers at the 22nd Winter Olympic Games and the 11th Winter Paralympic Games of 2014 in Sochi. IT training center for volunteers organised at TPU is one of the first effective sites in the country providing real opportunities for self-fulfillment and acquiring experience in largescale organisational work for creative youth. JOURNALS AND PRESS •Bulletin of TPU – The journal is included in the list of periodic scientific editions of Russia. Key ideas from Candidate and Doctoral thesis are published in the journal. The journal has been published for more than half of the century. •Siberian Journal of Science –The editorial board of this electronic scientific journal includes 18 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and 4 foreign scientists from Germany, France, Iceland and China. The journal has been published since 2011. •Tomskiy Politehnik – This journal of the TPU Alumni Association contains articles about famous graduates, significant dates and events of the past and the present.
