The recipients will be presented with their awards at a formal ceremony on 26 January, 2014. The recent report “Economic Impact of a Western Sydney Airport”, released by the NSW Business Chamber, found a new airport at Badgerys Creek would bring up to 28,000 jobs and generate more than $9 billion in economic growth for our region. The significant benefits a new airport could bring for Liverpool can’t be ignored – but we also need to consider potential impacts on the environment, housing and traffic. Mayor and Councillor Mobile Offices On Friday 27 September a Mayoral Reception for Liverpool Hospital’s 200 year Anniversary was held at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre. It was an opportunity to pay tribute to the valuable service the hospital has provided to the people of Liverpool and surrounding areas. The hospital is one of Australia’s leading medical education facilities and is allied with several universities and colleges providing exceptional training of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. Council recognises and values the vital contribution the Health and Medical Research sector are making in helping to position Liverpool as the regional city for South Western Sydney. Honouring a firefighting legend After the serious bushfires that have ravaged NSW this Spring, it is appropriate to say a big thank you to the heroic volunteers who make up the Rural Fire Service (RFS). Local legend Bill Wilson spent 36 years working for the Rural Bush Fire Brigade. The Mayor Council resolved to dedicate a significant park to Bill after his passing in 2000. Following a $200,000 face lift, in October the park was officially dedicated by Mayor Ned Ned Manno un with the Wilson fam Mannoun as the Bill Wilson Memorial Park located at Maple Road in Casula. ily.
