APRIL 2012 P ARROT H EAD C LUB OF T IDEWATER Volume 18 /Issue 4 he eak n Partying with a purpose since 1996 “View from the Bridge” Board of Directors Lazing on a “Sunday” Afternoon Andy Harrell President [email protected] 757-754-3044 ————— Graham Hallowes Vice President [email protected] 757-619-4875 ————— Scott Pitz Treasurer [email protected] [email protected] 757-646-0021 ————— John Stankiewicz Secretary [email protected] 757-547-9779 ————— Herb Holtzheter Director [email protected] 757-713-3301 While sitting here on a rainy Sunday, I am reminded of that great Kinks song which Jimmy covered, Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon and so yes, I took a little latitude with the lyric, but it seems to fit. It has been a long time since I have just kicked back with little to do so it has been a welcome change. So welcome in fact, that I am actually getting this column done early…well early for me! Upcoming happenings in the club include elections. Yes, it’s that time of year again. If you are considering running for one of the 3 seats up for election, we need your letter of intent no later than 04/15/2012. We will introduce the candidates at the May meeting and voting will take place at the June meeting with terms beginning July 1. I hope you will consider throwing you hat in the ring and help shape the future of PHCOT. Looking down the road, we have a new opportunity for community service this year. We will be participating in the first annual Vision Walk on May 6th in Virginia Beach. This event supports the Foundation Fighting Blindness. For more information on this event, go to www.fightblindness.org and look for information on the Virginia Beach walk. If you search by walker for Jenifer Banks, you can actually make a donation to our member and team lead on this event, Jennifer Banks. ————— Bob Roberts Director [email protected] 757-831-4769 _________ Rick Spink Director [email protected] 252-619-6408 ————— Andy & Bonnie Harrell Club Founders ————— Carissa the Club Commentator Newsletter Editor [email protected] Full color version of newsletter located at www.phcot.com If you didn’t make it out to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ocean View last month, you missed an excellent time! We gave away 2,000 leis to kids along the route and had a ball doing it! Thanks to Win Winslow for providing the excellent music on the float. I will have to say, though, there are a few songs that if I don’t hear for awhile, that will be OK! Well, in the interest of not rambling on and on, I will close here. Be sure to look throughout the newsletter and website for upcoming happenings. Also, stay up to date by making sure we have your correct e-mail info so you can be subscribed to the yahoo group. See you next month… “Captain” Andy The Board of Directors Meeting Minutes, Treasurer's Reports, and Parrot Point list are available for review at the Secretary's table at each general meeting. Jeff was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer; it was discovered during a routine exam, and hopefully very early. DJ Jeff is a fixture in the trop rock world. His award winning radio show, and internet radio station, promote the trop rock genre, the singers and songwriters that bring us all together, and numerous Parrot Head events around the country. BeachFront Radio's friends at Phins To the West have created the "Keep Trockin' For DJ Jeff" fund to help relieve some of the stress over the mounting medical bills. Purple wrist bands with the inscription "Keep Trockin' For DJ Jeff" are available for a $5 donation. Built to Last employees showing their support for DJ Jeff Allen. Please consider making a $5 donation to show your support for Jeff and all he has done for the Parrot Head Nation.
